Popular sovereignty ceased to exist in the so -called democracies of the capitalist west, by ceasing to exist the free formation of opinion and popular will, which are prefabricated by media machinery, owned by financial capital agencies.
The popular political will to determine the lines of development of the economy and society, replace it with the interests imposed from the force of economic power. So what is the use of the people win elections and reach the government? Neoliberal globalization as an international hegemonic regime subordinated to the nation-states, through the World Bank (BM) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), imposing them to domain policies of the United States, which keeps them in chronic deficit of balance and commercial balance, until they convert them into unfeasible countries, due to the crushing weight of the external debt; forcing them to deliver to foreign investors their natural assets and public infrastructure; exacerbating social inequality and strengthening oligarchies as agents of the Empire, replacing democratic control and representation.
So where did national sovereignty go? When the neoliberal order is exhausted, capitalism enters a crisis of domination, so they try to consolidate an empire in which the vassals have to consume their products and where the accumulation of capital makes it with the war. This is why Trump sends from the metropolis, so that the other countries meet him as colonies.
National self -determination is a democratic claim, dignity and national sovereignty are rights that will be conquered with the mobilization and struggle of the majority of society, facing the retrograde vision of the plutocracy of the empire, which seeks to return us to the colonial state, therefore, it is imperative to fight for the second and definitive independence.
