Irish President Michael Higgins has called for Israel and countries supplying it with weapons to be excluded from the United Nations.

His remarks followed a UN Human Rights Council report by independent experts concluding that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

Speaking to reporters, Higgins emphasized the gravity of the findings, noting that the report confirms Israel has carried out “four of the five” acts defined under the 1948 Genocide Convention, including incitement to genocide by high-ranking officials.
