Romania and COVID, a case of mistrust perhaps.

Romania and COVID, a case of mistrust perhaps.

Romania has a small population, at some 20 or so million humans. Some 30% are fully vaccinated against COVID 19. Today they reported 574 deaths. 528 of them were unvaccinated. 46 vaccinated but 43 of them were already very sick with other diseases. (source)

At this moment Romania has the second mortality rate in the world. (source)

Romania was one of the first tribes to start the vaccination campaign, and has more than enough vaccines for all of its population. Also, the vaccines are free for everyone.

Romania is also one of the most corrupted tribes in Europe, despite being one of the most religious tribes in Europe.

All of this may tell us two important facts:

1. Religion clearly doesn't make you a better or a smarter human.
2. Despite having access to free solutions (like a free vaccine), and a lot of information (data) to showcase that vaccines are safe, the mistrust in companies and governments is going to trump over there.

We cannot simply create a better society by enforcing rules and laws, and force people to do this or that. We cannot rely on laws the same way we cannot rely on religion to make a population more trustworthy and honest. And we can't simply explain to people how safe vaccines are (for example) when we know very well that companies and governments lie all the time.

Romanians are not less educated than Spaniards. At least we cannot say that when it comes to how vaccines work and how safe they are. And yet in Spain the vaccination rate is at about 80% and deaths at about 20 per day, with a population 2-3 times the one of Romania. In other words we can clearly see that the death rate is in direct relation to vaccines administration. "Fake news" works the best with a population of people who mistrust official sources of information such as governments.

It is a sad truth, but comes from a fucked up society. It is easy to accuse these people and call them primitive and uneducated, but very likely their hesitancy comes from mistrust not miseducation. #tromimg

On 14th at 21:00 Madrid time we will have a very interesting live:

In this TROM-Cast we will discuss The Internet. What is the Internet and what does it do to our lives? Is it just merely a reflection of our trade-based society, but this time we trade more with our data and attention rather than our currencies?

We are thrilled to have Cory Doctorow. From his Wikipedia page: Cory is a "blogger, journalist, and science fiction author who served as co-editor of the blog Boing Boing. He is an activist in favour of liberalising copyright laws and a proponent of the Creative Commons organization, using some of their licences for his books. Some common themes of his work include digital rights management, file sharing, and post-scarcity economics."

Visit his websites at craphound.com/ and pluralistic.net/

The live will be available here tromsite.com/live/ - and now we have a livechat!

Look at these ones, so much "biodiversity". Females, males, different colors....

All corrupted aljazeera.com/news/2021/10/4/p…

We don't need more women in politics, or people of different "races", as if there is more than one human race. We need no politics at all. We need to understand what creates bad behaviors and try to prevent that. And it is quite simple: treat people like you treat dogs in more developed countries. Take care of them. Make sure they are fed, have enough free time, access to at least their basic needs. All trade-free. And then they will become better humans and we can change our society for the better. #tromimg

This is what Lidl, perhaps the biggest supermarket chain in Europe, gives to their customers for free, for their kids:

A plastic model of a plastic bottle and a plastic packaged chicken. But hey, they do not sell plastic bags anymore because that's bad for the environment. They have "eco" paper bags. This is, friends, the exact reason we are fucked. As long as we trade this for that, then we will replace a poop with a turd, and call it a stick, and move on. There is no sustainable business. There is no getting out of this mess with renewable energies. There is no "lets apply logic and reason". There is no "lets seek for political will".

We have to get our heads out of our trade-based asses and look at what this society is made of. Maybe we will realize that underneath all of these fancy words, laws, customs and traditions, beneath all of the social stratification, ideas of ownership, multiple currencies, beneath all that it is a simple society of trade that emerged some 10 or so thousands of years ago, and we drag that into the present almost like dragging a dead and decaying pet, that smells bad and spreads diseases.

We have to leave this dead society behind. Trade is unnecessary. But it all starts with getting the fuck out this message to the masses. We try and try and try....but you have to also try. And if we see no result then at least we tried and we are not the zombie-ones that look at the Lidl retarded and boring plastic toys and this society overall, and have no reaction. Their lives are sucked into the void of it all. Don't be a zombie!

On 14th of October we are happy to have Cory Doctorow on TROMcast. We will discuss the online trades: data, attention, views, likes, and so forth. And the monopolies and consequences that revolve around it all.

We are releasing TROMjaro XFCE Aplha 2 for testing, if anyone is interested.

We did a bunch of improvements for workspaces, global menus + maximized windows, backups, the default apps and how they work, sessions and more. If you think MacOS or Windows are cool, check out TROMjaro XFCE hehe :). And it is trade-free!

See our updates here tromjaro.com/tromjaro-xfce-alp…

You can grab the ISO from there. #tromlive

We are releasing a new and different TROMJaro and we need people to test it. We want to give up Gnome and move to XFCE. Read more about it here tromjaro.com/tromjaro-xfce-alp… where you can also find the test ISO.

Basically it looks similar to the TROMjaro Gnome, but should be much faster, well built, has global menus, HUD, and more awesome stuff. Please give it a try and tell us what you think! #tromlive

Our latest TROM-Cast about Nudity is up link.trom.tf/fE2wF

Unfortunately we got a lot of issues. First that of sound. I forgot that I messed around with OBS these past days and I removed the input sound module for my computer from OBS. So I had to fix it live....then the connection to @Cleo of Topless Topics was not that great via Jitsi. I suspect is because the Jitsi instance we have used was hosted closer to us than to her, so her video quality was not that great + she interrupted a bunch of times. We did lots of tromcasts with people from all around the world but the connection was never as bad.

Lastly our live interrupted 2 times....and I have to investigate why. I have no clue at the moment. Maybe Peertube is too buggy when it comes to lives. I will test the live before our next TROMcast. Luckily I have recorded everything locally so all is saved.

Give it a bit of time to convert so you can stream it properTHank you to @Cleo of Topless Topics for participating! Very interesting discussion!

TROM-Cast 69: Nudity - Live here link.trom.tf/D_9z2_hW (tomorrow at 23:30 Madrid time)

In this episode we will talk about the notion of nudity. Why are the clothesless human bodies seen as being obscene in today's society? Why is youtube, facebook and the like banning content simply because of naked bodies being shown?

We have written three books about the topic:

- Morality and Ethics tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d…
- Offensive and Obscene tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d…
- Perspective: Private Mouths tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d…

Our guest today is Cleo @Cleo of Topless Topics from ToplessTopics. She has been banned from all social media platforms for the past many years, simply because she dared to show her nipples while creating non-pornographic, non-violent videos.

About her:

I'm a veteran "youtuber" and content creator who focuses my content on covering a wide variety of subjects, from progressive politics to parenting, gaming to arts and crafts, and I do it all from the perspective of "normalizing female toplessness through repeat exposure". Basically, providing an example of how a woman can be topless WITHOUT it automatically being considered "pornographic." Sadly, all the mainstream social media and video platforms disagree on the distinction!

We are also happy to provide a video platform where Cleo can post her videos. You can access it here videos.trom.tf/c/toplesstopics…

Honest question, Why do you use a url shortener on friendica when you don't have any character limit there ?

I personally prefer the full link because it tells me what site I'm visiting. For example, if its a youtube/peertube link, then I can open it with newpipe/mpv etc. There's also some privacy/security issues as well, and some people might think its spam when they see links like this, so they may ignore the post entirely......

COVID 19 killed some 4.6 million people for the past 2 years. Air Pollution kills 7 million people each year. Both are important, but you do not see much attention given to the air pollution as a "killer".

The tech prostitutes

"How Tech Companies Manipulate the Media" ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=9V0lXIK9DZ…

A well made video by the "tech youtubers" explaining how big companies bully them into creating positive reviews for their products. And then they go back at doing just that. Rinse and repeat. Nothing learned. These online prostitutes are eager to trade trade trade, at infinitum. They are pursued by the same companies, and same tech prostitutes that talk positively about tech, to buy more of that tech. A way of eating your own poop.

So then they have to pay for their macbookpros and teslas and such, so then they have to make videos that reach more and more people, because that makes them more and more money, to then buy more and more stuff. Endless...

Very little of the new tech nowadays is useful and a real innovation. The rest is LED lights of different colors. Toys.

We need to make people understand the trap of this trade-based society in the hope that they may want to escape from it. First: understand the problem. #tromlive

A new TROMjaro feedback:

I use TROMjaro and love it. It's currently my distro of choice on all 3 of my machines. The Thinkpad T440 (int the center) is my daily driver is an i7 with 12GB ram and an SSD. TROMjaro is blazing fast and beautiful. Especially wit the external monitor attached. I use the Thinkpad for 90% of my daily computer tasks. The other machine (behind the Thinkpad) is called Frankeputer and is an old HP laptop with no screen, an i5, 16GB ram and 1TB HDD. TROMjaro is just as fast and efficient on it as well. Frankenputer is used for hosting my podcast/blog files on the lan so I can edit them on any machine from any room. It also runs the music/sound FX into my mixer for the shows audio. Where I keep an eye on the streams and the audience chats during the show. That audio that feeds into the mixer then goes into the Thinkpad which is running OBS Studio to stream to the live audience as well as record the video versions of the podcasts.

My mixer is a Zoom R16 which also records the audio onto an sd card as a back up in case of a crash of OBS Studio or I spill coffee on the Thinkpad. Speaking of backups. Not seen in the pic is an old Dell Inspirion laptop running TROMjaro to the left of me. It's sporting an i3 with 16GB ram and a 1TB HDD. It's there always at the ready just in case the Thinkpad or Frankenputer fails during a live show. And you guessed it TROMjaro screams along on it as well. This is without a doubt the best and most beautiful experience I've ever had in the Gnome Desktop.

The cult of new-tech

If you want to see the cult of new-tech just watch any "tech-youtuber". Start with this one youtube.com/watch?v=ZSowePnsWX…

A video review about the latest Samsung foldable phone. Edge to edge screen, ability to snap multiple apps side by side, cameras, swipe, skype, hopefully thinner, you can shower with it, and soooo much more. Exactly like the model before it. All for 1800$.

Technology companies are over-hyping useless new features, or non-features, because they have to release new models of their tech every few months or so. They have to, else they cannot continue their endless trade routine.

Every time you watch a video where "tech-tubers" talk about a phone, a car, a laptop and such, imagine if we would do these for say toasters. Each year or a few months, a new Toaster500 Slick is going to be released. Now it toasts the bread 0.04s faster than the previous one at a temperature of 143.4C (0.3 degrees cooler than the previous one).

New features include:
- 4 new toasting modes: light, lit, lift, and lol.
- comes in 3 colors: white, almost yellow, and egg-white
- it can toast 3 more bread brands: Curcy, Snorky, and Muffy
- better phone notifications when your bread is done
- and a lot more

If that would sound ridiculous, then why doesn't it sound ridiculous when people compare phones to the millimeter. How many mm thinner it is; how many nanoseconds faster it is to open apps; how many noise dots a photo has; pixels and subpixels; endless nonsense that in real life conditions are not noticeable or important at all.

Cars are the same: 0.4s faster from 0 to 100KM/s; 4 auto parking modes instead of 3.5; new colors, different logos, and so forth.

This world is a complete insanity. Endless bullshit. Nothing useful.

Who is there making videos about how fast the medical emergency unit is responding in that part of the US vs the other one. Medical quality care? How many people can get access to healthy food? How much cleaner the air is? How much is this drug increasing the survival rate in people with cancer? These are the bloody important progress units, not the fact that your new phone opens an app 0.06s faster than the other one, or that the screen is at such a high resolution that your eyes can't even see.

A bunch of traders and consumers. Liking each other in the butt-hole like an endless loop of eating shit. The language may be too strong, but the idiocy is even stronger.

Stay sane. #tromlive

Unfortunately our last TROMcast recording was lost...it was a personal mistake (me, Tio) in the way I setup the live. See the explanation here social.trom.tf/display/dbc8dc4…

We are very very sorry because it was a great discussion with Dr. Sophia Moskalenko - you can follow her on Twitter via RSS here bird.trom.tf/sophiamoskalen1 . In the next TROMcast I will try to summarize a bit our discussion. Again, very sorry....

Do not move the trash from one place to another

The idea of banning and censoring people online, is as good as that of shipping your country's waste to Thailand, China or other poorer countries. Sure, you'll say: "But look how clean US or Germany are...." Of course! Because you shipped all that waste to poor countries that are full of garbage. That's how pretty much all websites do it nowadays. They ban many people, and these people end up on "alternative" social platforms that have to deal with this garbage and they do not have the resources of doing it.

And guess what happens? Thailand, Indonesia or other countries become a source of pollution: water, air, soil. And they dispose the waste into the oceans. And then US and other rich countries realize that the air is polluted, the water is, and so forth. Same thing happens online where these marginalized (banned) humans grow in numbers in these "alternative" places where they bake all kinds of crazy conspiracies, and these crazy ideas then end up again on the same social platforms that booted them.

The circle of "life". Because much in the same way that waste is not a US or Germany problem, but a global problem that needs a global solution, online conspiracy theories are not a Facebook or Google problem, they are global internet problems. And both cannot be solved if we move the trash from one place to another, just to keep our backyard clean. The same garbage will become worse and bite you in the ass eventually.

So keep these in mind. Humans should take the time to understand these problems and deal with them. But who has time when everyone is busy trading trading trading. That's all they know. More stuff, more stuff, more stuff. We are doomed! #tromimg

I think this image sums up pretty well the current stupidity, where people fear the vaccines without knowing anything about vaccines.

Instead of listening to a world-wide scientific consensus, they think it is more reasonable to listen to some facebook or youtube personalities.

Doubt is necessary. But uneducated and unfounded doubt, is dangerous.

If the primitive minds of the so rich tribes do not want the vaccines, give them to those poor tribes that need them desperately.
