COVID Concerns

If you don't read this post on Friendica (why!?) then make sure you read it in full here. So you see the images, links, and all that.

This is a chart with COVID vaccines vs mortality due to COVID per million people. Left side is how much of the population is fully vaccinated. Right side the mortality rate.

(source)

It is quite clear that the more people are vaccinated, the less are dying of COVID. Now there is a new variant of concern - read the WHO statement about it news.un.org/en/story/2021/11/1…

Of course, it comes from Africa where the vaccination rate is very low. What are the tribes of the world thinking? This was very predictable. Delta came from India from the same reasons, and now Omicron is thought to be even more dangerous. If we have global problems but we only act locally, this is going to always happen.

When people doubt the institutions and companies, and in many cases for good reasons, then trust is eroded. The trade game that we play creates this situation, since companies and governments seek profits that are induced by the game of trade itself, so they cut corners, lie, are corrupted, and overall care more about profiting than they do about humans and the planet.

So the trust is eroded, and people are skeptical about the vaccines, and thus the vaccination rate will be lower even when there are vaccines available. This is why, even the new variant, is discovered mostly among unvaccinated people (source). Also the mortality rate that is seen in the world, due to COVID, is mostly among those who are not vaccinated. Therefore, even where the vaccine is available, people's mistrust in this society, couple with the bullshit of social (ad) platforms like facebook, twitter, youtube and the like that spread any nonsense that gets clicks, creates a disastrous situation.

SECOND.
Poor tribes do not get access to vaccines, so they become a breeding ground for new mutations of the virus. The vaccines should be open source and free for all. There are 0 excuses for this!

The moral of the story is that we are a global society that has global problems, from crime to climate change, from pandemics to starvation or waste and pollution. And yet humans act as if the imaginary borders they built, are going to protect them from such global threats.

Unless we wake up, and also give up to this primitive idea of trade that creates so many barriers, nothing will ever ever change.

Such a situation would be so different in a sane society:
- most people would have at least their basic needs met as trade-free, so they will have time to be more informed, relaxed, and cooperative in case of such an emergency
- more people could focus on solving the issue (doctors, researchers, citizen scientists)
- once a solution is found, will be distributed to those in most need, not in most rich tribes, thus preventing deaths and future mutations of such a virus

We act like retarded children. But this behavior comes from the environment that we are exposed to. Never forger that.

Fedilab is currently trying to rewrite some of their code to improve UI and stuff - toot.fedilab.app/@apps/1073283…

I'll just ping @apps here so maybe they would look into fixing these issues. Fedilab is actually the only app I could find on fdroid that explicitly said it supports friendica. But the friendica support on it is pretty bad right now, and there's definitely room for improvement.

Friendica is so underrated right now, and part of the reason is that it don't have a good mobile app

in reply to Rokosun

Yes, we have an issue where fixes will be brought to the new app.

The 200 Euros a year campaign to back all of our stuff to the cloud. Help here if you can tromsite.com/donations/trombkp…

The story:
We have around 7TB of this data. Some 40 websites – like tromsite.com, trom.tf with some 20 services (video hosting, social network, file sharing, etc.); tromjaro.com and the ISOs, all of our videos that we made, books, and so on. On top of this there is the next TROM II documentary we work on, that’s around 2TB in size (we filmed in 4k and have over 20h of recorded footage).

We have a ton of files and one shoe box where they are backed-up. Locally at the place I (Tio) live. On cheap Hard Drives.

But if the house burns down then we lose not only our backups, but most of our files. And we won’t be able to recover them, ever.

Our budget is very low, so we decided to make this campaign to pay for 1 year of cloud backup storage to make sure that all of our files are in a different location, not only locally.

If we get the funds, we will sleep very relaxed at night knowing that our files are in at least 2 different locations. Safe.

200 Euros to backup everything without extensive file versioning, and also no VideoNeat.com and its wonderful materials.

300 Euros to backup everything, plus extensive file versioning, plus VideoNeat.com and its wonderful materials.

I did try that via Syncthing. But now I do not have "another building" available. The only solution is to ask a friend to store some 8TB of data for me, which is a lot. We need very good speeds, I have to encrypt all data so whatever it reaches my friend's computer is encrypted so even he cannot access it. We need 20h uptime. It is too complicated and I did try.

Chewing the same gum

All of these official meetings to address climate change have no meaning, unless they look at what makes human beings consume that much and pollute so much. Unless they understand that it is the structure of our society (trade) that creates these bad behaviors, which in turn create such problems, nothing has any chance of getting better.

With all of these talks and chewing the same gum, no one looks at the human animal in a scientific way, and no one looks at our society from a scientific way. They are trapped in keeping the same religion of trade (economy) alive by any means.

Here's how you have some real chances to change these problems. Ready?

1. Understand the problem. Trade pushes people to chase...trades. And that's pretty much it. As simple and as dumb as that. Makes us all robotic merchants and consumers. So it is not the rich people's fault, not companies, not governments, not individuals. It is the environment. You can't simply punish anyone, you have to change this environment.

2. Now that you know what the problem is, tackle it. Trade is the problem, so lets move away from it. We have more stuff and food on this planet that it has become a problem we call waste. Lets start by giving trade-free access to all humans, for at least their basic needs as a first aid. This way you will decouple humans from this robotic state of trading, of being merchants and consumers. Humans will then have more free time to volunteer and create more trade-free goods and services.

This all has real chances to phase out the damaging practices that we see today, since no one will be incentivized to (for example) use coal over renewable energies, to lie about what they offer, to produce bad quality products and so forth. Because we won't try to save the "economy" in such a scenario, but to save us and the environment, and create a better life for ourselves.

In short, if you want to fix climate change alongside the billions of problems we see in the world today, a sane start is to move away from this trade-based society and one way you can do that is to first provide the needs of all humans as trade-free. Technology exist, stuff exist for the job. DO IT!

52 minutes done for TROM II:

Well there might be slight improvements but the bulk of it is done. Notice in the photo how massive the work is, and on the other side how well TROMjaro XFCE copes with it. Maximized window + global menus + HUD, makes it so much better and easier to edit videos.

Kdenlive had a few major bugs but using the Appimage seems to be fine, considering TROM II is such a massive project.

Maybe we will finish the first part in a month or so. That will be a total of some 1h 20 minutes. Then we have to work a lot more for the next parts that are even more important. It will take many months to finish the documentary, maybe more than a year who knows.

We have a new cool tool thanks to @Alexio ! status.trom.tf/

This page shows in almost real time the status of all of our websites. And it is hosted and managed by Alexio so that if our servers are down, this page won't be affected.

Big thanks to Alexio for this!

Such a page is important especially for trom.tf services, so that you can see what services are more reliable. And for us to keep track of what websites may not work properly, so that we can fix them. #tromimg

Romania and COVID, a case of mistrust perhaps.

Romania and COVID, a case of mistrust perhaps.

Romania has a small population, at some 20 or so million humans. Some 30% are fully vaccinated against COVID 19. Today they reported 574 deaths. 528 of them were unvaccinated. 46 vaccinated but 43 of them were already very sick with other diseases. (source)

At this moment Romania has the second mortality rate in the world. (source)

Romania was one of the first tribes to start the vaccination campaign, and has more than enough vaccines for all of its population. Also, the vaccines are free for everyone.

Romania is also one of the most corrupted tribes in Europe, despite being one of the most religious tribes in Europe.

All of this may tell us two important facts:

1. Religion clearly doesn't make you a better or a smarter human.
2. Despite having access to free solutions (like a free vaccine), and a lot of information (data) to showcase that vaccines are safe, the mistrust in companies and governments is going to trump over there.

We cannot simply create a better society by enforcing rules and laws, and force people to do this or that. We cannot rely on laws the same way we cannot rely on religion to make a population more trustworthy and honest. And we can't simply explain to people how safe vaccines are (for example) when we know very well that companies and governments lie all the time.

Romanians are not less educated than Spaniards. At least we cannot say that when it comes to how vaccines work and how safe they are. And yet in Spain the vaccination rate is at about 80% and deaths at about 20 per day, with a population 2-3 times the one of Romania. In other words we can clearly see that the death rate is in direct relation to vaccines administration. "Fake news" works the best with a population of people who mistrust official sources of information such as governments.

It is a sad truth, but comes from a fucked up society. It is easy to accuse these people and call them primitive and uneducated, but very likely their hesitancy comes from mistrust not miseducation. #tromimg

On 14th at 21:00 Madrid time we will have a very interesting live:

In this TROM-Cast we will discuss The Internet. What is the Internet and what does it do to our lives? Is it just merely a reflection of our trade-based society, but this time we trade more with our data and attention rather than our currencies?

We are thrilled to have Cory Doctorow. From his Wikipedia page: Cory is a "blogger, journalist, and science fiction author who served as co-editor of the blog Boing Boing. He is an activist in favour of liberalising copyright laws and a proponent of the Creative Commons organization, using some of their licences for his books. Some common themes of his work include digital rights management, file sharing, and post-scarcity economics."

Look at these ones, so much "biodiversity". Females, males, different colors....

All corrupted aljazeera.com/news/2021/10/4/p…

We don't need more women in politics, or people of different "races", as if there is more than one human race. We need no politics at all. We need to understand what creates bad behaviors and try to prevent that. And it is quite simple: treat people like you treat dogs in more developed countries. Take care of them. Make sure they are fed, have enough free time, access to at least their basic needs. All trade-free. And then they will become better humans and we can change our society for the better. #tromimg

This is what Lidl, perhaps the biggest supermarket chain in Europe, gives to their customers for free, for their kids:

A plastic model of a plastic bottle and a plastic packaged chicken. But hey, they do not sell plastic bags anymore because that's bad for the environment. They have "eco" paper bags. This is, friends, the exact reason we are fucked. As long as we trade this for that, then we will replace a poop with a turd, and call it a stick, and move on. There is no sustainable business. There is no getting out of this mess with renewable energies. There is no "lets apply logic and reason". There is no "lets seek for political will".

We have to get our heads out of our trade-based asses and look at what this society is made of. Maybe we will realize that underneath all of these fancy words, laws, customs and traditions, beneath all of the social stratification, ideas of ownership, multiple currencies, beneath all that it is a simple society of trade that emerged some 10 or so thousands of years ago, and we drag that into the present almost like dragging a dead and decaying pet, that smells bad and spreads diseases.

We have to leave this dead society behind. Trade is unnecessary. But it all starts with getting the fuck out this message to the masses. We try and try and try....but you have to also try. And if we see no result then at least we tried and we are not the zombie-ones that look at the Lidl retarded and boring plastic toys and this society overall, and have no reaction. Their lives are sucked into the void of it all. Don't be a zombie!

We are releasing TROMjaro XFCE Aplha 2 for testing, if anyone is interested.

We did a bunch of improvements for workspaces, global menus + maximized windows, backups, the default apps and how they work, sessions and more. If you think MacOS or Windows are cool, check out TROMjaro XFCE hehe :). And it is trade-free!

See our updates here tromjaro.com/tromjaro-xfce-alp…

You can grab the ISO from there. #tromlive

We are releasing a new and different TROMJaro and we need people to test it. We want to give up Gnome and move to XFCE. Read more about it here tromjaro.com/tromjaro-xfce-alp… where you can also find the test ISO.

Basically it looks similar to the TROMjaro Gnome, but should be much faster, well built, has global menus, HUD, and more awesome stuff. Please give it a try and tell us what you think! #tromlive

Our latest TROM-Cast about Nudity is up link.trom.tf/fE2wF

Unfortunately we got a lot of issues. First that of sound. I forgot that I messed around with OBS these past days and I removed the input sound module for my computer from OBS. So I had to fix it live....then the connection to @Cleo of Topless Topics was not that great via Jitsi. I suspect is because the Jitsi instance we have used was hosted closer to us than to her, so her video quality was not that great + she interrupted a bunch of times. We did lots of tromcasts with people from all around the world but the connection was never as bad.

Lastly our live interrupted 2 times....and I have to investigate why. I have no clue at the moment. Maybe Peertube is too buggy when it comes to lives. I will test the live before our next TROMcast. Luckily I have recorded everything locally so all is saved.

Give it a bit of time to convert so you can stream it properTHank you to @Cleo of Topless Topics for participating! Very interesting discussion!

TROM-Cast 69: Nudity - Live here link.trom.tf/D_9z2_hW (tomorrow at 23:30 Madrid time)

In this episode we will talk about the notion of nudity. Why are the clothesless human bodies seen as being obscene in today's society? Why is youtube, facebook and the like banning content simply because of naked bodies being shown?

We have written three books about the topic:

- Morality and Ethics tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d…
- Offensive and Obscene tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d…
- Perspective: Private Mouths tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d…

Our guest today is Cleo @Cleo of Topless Topics from ToplessTopics. She has been banned from all social media platforms for the past many years, simply because she dared to show her nipples while creating non-pornographic, non-violent videos.

About her:

I'm a veteran "youtuber" and content creator who focuses my content on covering a wide variety of subjects, from progressive politics to parenting, gaming to arts and crafts, and I do it all from the perspective of "normalizing female toplessness through repeat exposure". Basically, providing an example of how a woman can be topless WITHOUT it automatically being considered "pornographic." Sadly, all the mainstream social media and video platforms disagree on the distinction!

-----------

We are also happy to provide a video platform where Cleo can post her videos. You can access it here videos.trom.tf/c/toplesstopics…

Honest question, Why do you use a url shortener on friendica when you don't have any character limit there ?

I personally prefer the full link because it tells me what site I'm visiting. For example, if its a youtube/peertube link, then I can open it with newpipe/mpv etc. There's also some privacy/security issues as well, and some people might think its spam when they see links like this, so they may ignore the post entirely......

COVID 19 killed some 4.6 million people for the past 2 years. Air Pollution kills 7 million people each year. Both are important, but you do not see much attention given to the air pollution as a "killer".
