The reason that a bunch of evangelicals went all in on calling empathy a sin is that people like me spent years crying out for justice for victims of abuse: religious and spiritual abuse, sexual abuse (esp. child sexual abuse), domestic abuse, racist, and all the other ugly types of abuse perpetuated and protected by churches and Christian organizations.

The only possible answer you can give to that is to tell everyone to cover their ears, close their eyes, and shout "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

The book "The Sin of Empathy" was published by Canon Press. Canon Press is the vanity publishing house for a certain Mr. Douglas Wilson and his friends and associates (like whoever the fuck this guy that wrote the book is).

Mr. Wilson is a long-time white supremacist (used to be semi-covert) and slavery apologist (not so covert) who also happens to be a "pastor" of a cult-like church in Idaho.

in reply to Artemis

I've met the man, Doug Wilson, and he presents as very jovial and intellectual. He's a piece of shit.

Me and some other folks really got under his skin about 10 years ago when we got our hands on 2 separate stories of severe child sexual abuse that occurred at his church which he covered up and even seemed to sort of tacitly endorse. We made a huge stink and wouldn't shut up, and it was fucking unpleasant for him for a while.

in reply to Artemis

Before "empathy" was his favorite sin to condemn it was "bitterness". He and his whole crowd loved to talk about it. Bitterness is when you refuse to forgive and forget about the abuse which people have done and continue to do to you.

Empathy is the perfect companion "sin" for bitterness because you commit the sin of empathy when you *listen* to a (bitter) victim of abuse and seek justice and healing for them.

President Donald J. Trump puts AMERICA FIRST. FINALLY, a POTUS who loves our country and is unafraid to let the world know. Glory hallelujah!

Nothing in the second Trump administration has divided Washington more sharply than the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. The frenetic effort has featured foibles, but it has also uncovered shocking wastes of taxpayer dollars — discoveries which may have earned DOGE more detractors than its faults.

@Suzu @poopernova I'd argue you can say that nintendo might win on battery life. In all honestly we haven't had decent battery life for handheld gaming since the 3ds.
I think I'm basically checked out of nintendo gaming anyways if games are going to be 80 usd. It's reaching the point where I'd get more value off of a waifu gacha game at that point.
Cad pricing would be 110 bucks + tax. I don't know about you but spending 110 + 13% tax doesn't sound appealing to me.

1/4 People are celebrating #Booker &the great #filibuster caper. That's fine. They're desperate for a hero w Schumer asleep at the wheel or rather driving drunk under the influence of #Zionist #fascism.

Did the record deserve to be broken and held by anyone other than a segregationist? Sure.

Please understand that ICE disappearing legal residents is directly related to #Zionism, to which Booker & many in Congress pledge allegiance with every vote & dollar every day.

I really wish, though, politicians could be bothered to care when there wasn't something big to gain for themselves. Clout is more important to them than universal healthcare, the environment, stopping this current disaster cannibalizing the government, and opposing genocide/Zionism/fascism.

I wish that this moment was going to raise the bar, raise our expectations for politicians and they'd meet the moment and fight for progressive values that help everyone.

Instead, Booker will get popular and new slogans will be born and we'll still get dragged further right toward the thing that they claim to be fighting. (Business as usual.) Lesser of two evils. Civility and pragmatism. Gotta compromise with fascism and throw trans people, legal residents, disabled people under the bus to oppose fascism, right?

Is blaming people who speak up all you know how to do? Michigan went for Trump, yes? And PA, where the Hatians were supposedly eating pets? That’s what Americans voted for.

I live in a blue state, with a Dem Gov and state assembly. So, none of this is my fault. Not one scintilla of blame belongs to me personally.

Making it personal is the method of the weak.

It would benefit all of us if Michigan would explain themselves.

This is the same #Booker who complained about the tiny auction signs some Dems held at the SOTU instead of walking out en masse or all going up to him and singing or chanting in his face till he left. He didn't fight cloture votes and did vote for Republican nominees. He's #AIPAC through and through.

If you're looking for a hero, go somewhere else.

He doesn't mind #fascism.

And that's a problem.

And reject #Zionism. Be loud about it.

Good that he broke the record, though. I guess.
