L’ #UE l’a abandonné.

Opposing The Gaza Holocaust Is Just The Basic, Bare Minimum Requirement To Not Suck As A Person
C. #Johnstone

Opposing the Gaza holocaust doesn’t make you a good person. Failing to oppose the Gaza holocaust makes you a bad person.
It’s not something you do so you can feel good about yourself, it’s something you do so you can live with yourself. Because the alternative is unacceptable to anyone with even the most elementary building blocks of a conscience.
I sometimes see people describing opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza as “virtue signaling”, but there is nothing virtuous about opposing Israel’s actions in Gaza. “Virtue” is defined as “behavior which demonstrates high moral standards.” That’s not what this is. Opposing an active genocide is just the bare minimum requirement for not being a shitty human being. It’s no more “virtuous” than pulling a drowning toddler out of your pool; it’s just what one does when one is not a complete psychopath.
Those who call it “virtue signaling”, or accuse anti-genocide demonstrators of participating in some kind of fashionable social media trend, are confessing something very revealing about who they are as individuals. They are admitting that they cannot imagine any reason why anyone might take a forceful stand against an ongoing genocide unless it brought them social clout. They are admitting that they are bad people.

Those of us who have dedicated our time to opposing the #genocide in #Gaza are not doing anything special, noble, or exemplary. We won’t look back on our action with pride, we’ll just have the ability to look back on our lives at this point in history without shame. When our grandchildren ask us what we did about the Gaza holocaust, we won’t feel the need to lie or hang our heads. That’s it.
The fact that those of us who are aggressively opposing this genocide make up such a small percentage of our society does not say wonderful things about us, it says terrible things about our society. How pervasively our hearts and minds have been poisoned by propaganda and the self-centeredness of capitalism. How warped and twisted our consciences have been made. How many of us have failed to mature as individuals during our time on this planet.
It says dark, dark things about our civilization that this nightmare has been allowed to continue. That our rulers are able to facilitate this relentless mass atrocity month after month while still remaining in power. That today children will be murdered in some of the most horrific ways imaginable with the assistance of the western power structure we live under, and yet so few will stand against this because it’s unpleasant to think about, or because we’d rather watch TV, or because we support one of the western political parties who have helped make this possible, or because we’re worried what publicly opposing Israel might mean for our career prospects or our social standing, or because we fear that the cognitive dissonance we’d experience by letting the reality of this thing truly hit home for us might crush us to death under its weight.
And all we can do is refuse to participate in that insanity. Not because we are righteous, but because we want to be able to sleep at night. Because we don’t want to become the kind of person who can remain peripherally aware that they are witnessing history’s first live-streamed genocide without doing everything they can to try and stop it. Because we want to be able to look back and know we did everything we could.

Before he self-immolated outside the Israeli embassy last year in protest of the #Gaza holocaust, an active duty member of the US Air Force named Aaron #Bushnell wrote the following on Facebook:
Many of us like to ask ourselves, ‘What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?’ The answer is, you’re doing it. Right now.
Bushnell wasn’t passing judgement on anyone in particular when he said this. He was just handing us a mirror. What we see when we look into that mirror is nobody’s fault but our own.

As soon as I turned on my #monitor, my #keyboard and #mouse lit up (they're plugged-in to my monitor) but neither of them were recognized. Couldn't even press [Caps Lock] to toggle the LED on the keyboard.

Lights were on, but nobody was home.

Ended up having to #SSH into my workstation and kill my entire #Cinnamon session just so I could #login.

Extremely frustrating because it also meant I lost any of my unsaved work. Gah!

Update on Casey Goonan’s Case

Update from the Casey Support Committee as of 4/8/25

Sentencing hearing postponed and more evidence entered into discovery

Casey’s sentencing has been rescheduled to June 10th, 1 pm, at the Oakland federal courthouse. We will be mobilizing court support again for this hearing so stay tuned for confirmation and guidelines a few weeks before that date. We hope it won’t be rescheduled yet again but know that is a possibility. Also of note is that since the plea deal the US Attorney has entered substantial new material into evidence consisting of a large amount of phone call audio and copies of correspondence between Casey and supporters obtained via the jail’s monitoring of communications. This is concerning, but let it serve as a reminder that all comms into jails and prisons are actively monitored and that it is incumbent upon everyone to maintain responsible communication habits.

Rescheduling the sentencing hearing also means there is more time to people who know Casey personally to send the lawyers letters of character to file with the judge. If you want the guidelines and details, hit us up at cscommittee@proton.me.

Health and well being

As you probably know Casey has had a very difficult year health wise, but has been doing better physically in the last month even though they have repeatedly gotten sick from their food. As a result they have been spending a lot of time in bed, and haven’t been up for doing much letter writing lately. Letters are always appreciated but correspondence is also challenging due to 2-4 week delays in receiving mail. The emotional toll of the sentencing date being moved and continuing to be in the limbo of Santa Rita is taking a toll on their sleep and mental health. But they are doing their best to stay on top of their program and keep their energy and spirits up.

Visits

Visits are very appreciated by Casey! They can be in person at the jail or by video.
For all the details for scheduling in person or video visits:

Support the Casey Goonan Legal Defense Fund

Casey is still in need of ongoing support to cover legal costs, restitution and fines. Though they’ve had some great support, we have a ways to go. In addition to the cost of legal defense, sentencing will definitely mandate substantial restitution and fines. Thank you so much to all those who have already contributed and organized support!

Some ways to support:
– Throw fundraising events and raffles
– Spread the word, share posts, and directly contact large donors.
– Print up a QR code for the Chuffed account, share the details of the case and the legal defense fund while tabling at events
– Send funds directly to the Chuffed account at https://chuffed.org/project/SupportCasey

You can reach out to us at cscommittee@proton.me or the freecaseynow Instagram for any questions about collaboration, promotion, or guidance on fundraising.

Love and struggle,

A mother of two was left to stew in a police custody cell for more than seven hours after she confiscated two iPads belonging to her children - and was accused of theft.

Vanessa Brown, a 50-year-old history teacher, revealed the 'unspeakable devastation and trauma' she suffered after being taken to Staines police station.

in reply to YoungBlood

Ms Brown was searched and had custody photographs and fingerprints taken after taking away her daughters' devices in an attempt to ensure they were not distracted from their studies.

article image
'A tracking device on the iPads showed that they were at the address and a 50-year-old woman from Cobham was arrested on suspicion of theft,' said the spokesperson.

'A search was then carried out using post-arrest powers and the iPads were located.

in reply to YoungBlood

'The woman was subsequently released on conditional bail while further enquiries were carried out.

'The police bail conditions included not speaking to her daughters, who were connected to the investigation, while officers carried out their enquiries.

‘Following these enquiries, officers discovered that the iPads belonged to the woman's children and that she was entitled to confiscate items from her own children.'

china can revalue their currency and boost domestic consumption of products, and improve their quality of life.

the USA is heavily dependent on china for critical resources and products across virtually all markets. doubling prices on all this stuff is going to hurt in ways we can't even imagine yet. we can't simply turn on domestic capacity- this will take decades to ramp up, and the rest of the world probably can't make up for china's capacity either

so either we'll have to capitulate, drop the china tariffs, and hang our heads in shame, or most products will be more than 2x more expensive for a long time. it's hard to overstate the economic impact of this on poor people. you can't make up for this with a tax cut, because those people don't pay much tax anyway.

As the crowds were appalled on seeing him – so disfigured did he look that he seemed no longer human – so will the crowds be astonished at him, and kings stand speechless before him; for they shall see something never told and witness something never heard before.

Dramatic Video From Widow of Slain Candidate Rocks Presidential Race in Ecuador, Confirms Drop Site Investigation

A stunning allegation has rocked the Ecuadorian presidential election, with the widow of a slain presidential candidate confirming the accuracy of an explosive investigation published last year by Drop Site News.

The article published evidence that the nation’s attorney general, a close ally of the United States, had withheld accurate information about the assassination, and pushed forward disinformation, in an effort to frame the political party of former president Rafael Correa for the murder.

This is an interview with a "Palestinian" woman who proclaims proudly that she ENJOYED the videos Hamas posted on Oct 7, 2023, cf. below.

She also LIES about them and denies what everyone can verify for themselves.

Then she claims that she should still have a "refugee" statues, although she lives a totally normal life and was never a "refugee" and that they will never accept a "2 state solution" - which is off the table, at this point.

She claims that Jews should "go back to where they came from, the dumb bitch.

Jews were ALWAYS the majority population of Israel - even under various occupations. Arabs are the ones who arrived very recently.

At least 850'000 Jews were expelled from Muslim majority countries in Northern Africa and the Middle East after 1948. Where are they supposed to go "back to"?

The stupidity of these imbeciles is unbelievable. She claims to be an "engineer", yet she clearly cannot think rationally.

The next time they want to toss the "But the polio vaccine saved many lives" let them know that from 1929 to 1952 the rate of Polio was in the decline because personal hygiene and better sewage and water safety practices were taking place in major cities. Yes there were many flair ups but they were becoming increasingly less and less each year. The vaccine only helped stabilize the populace but in reality better food and sanitation practices were being implemented which is the REAL REASON we no longer have polio in this country. Don't believe me? Afghanistan and Pakistan have been vaccinating their people for over 40 years and polio is still the #1 killer of children in these 2 countries. Why would this be? Because their health and sanitation infrastructure sucks to high heaven maybe? You can't vaccinate your way out of this problem until your people can drink clean water and human/animal poop isn't everywhere. Basically it's proof positive that the polio vaccine doesn't work but a proper diet, good hygiene and working sanitation does.

So since the polio vaccine has been proven to be a joke, I'm starting to wonder what else doesn't really work.

Filing Annual Returns with ACRA: A Detailed Guide for Compliance

This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the process, highlighting the importance of secretarial services and the role of a company secretary in ensuring seamless compliance.

Ensuring compliance with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) is a fundamental responsibility for businesses operating in Singapore. Filing annual returns is a critical component of this compliance, serving as an official update to ACRA regarding your company’s status. While the task may seem routine, it is essential for maintaining your company’s good standing and avoiding potential penalties. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the process, highlighting the importance of secretarial services and the role of a company secretary in ensuring seamless compliance.

The Significance of Annual Returns

Annual returns serve as a formal communication to ACRA, confirming your company’s ongoing operations and providing updates on key aspects such as directors, shareholders, and financial health. Failure to file these returns can result in fines, late fees, or even the removal of your company from the register.

Conversely, timely filing enhances your company’s credibility, demonstrating to investors, partners, and clients that your business is well-managed and compliant. Additionally, the process offers an opportunity to review and update your company’s records, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Let us explore the steps necessary to achieve a successful filing.

Step 1: Preparation and Documentation

Before accessing ACRA’s BizFile+ portal, it is crucial to organize all necessary documentation. Consider this step akin to assembling the components of a comprehensive report. The following items are required:

  • Company details: Unique Entity Number (UEN), registered address, and key dates such as your financial year-end.
  • Director and shareholder information: Names, identification numbers, and any changes.
  • Financial statements: Most companies require an unaudited financial statement or a solvency statement if exempt.
  • AGM details: If your company holds an Annual General Meeting, note the date.

It is advisable to engage a company secretary to manage this information. They serve as your compliance partner, ensuring that deadlines and details are meticulously tracked. Disorganized records can lead to missed deadlines and potential penalties, underscoring the importance of thorough preparation.

Step 2: Reviewing AGM and Financial Statements

For companies not exempt from holding an AGM, this meeting must occur within six months of the financial year-end. The AGM provides shareholders with updates and approvals for financial matters. If an AGM is not conducted, a declaration of exemption must be filed, a common practice for small companies.

The preparation of financial statements is a critical component of the filing process. Small or exempt private companies (with annual revenue under S$10 million) may only require a basic report. Larger firms, however, must submit detailed accounts. Secretarial services play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of these documents, identifying potential issues before submission to ACRA.

Step 3: Filing Process

The filing process is conducted via BizFile+, ACRA’s online portal. The following steps outline the procedure:

  • Select “File Annual Return” under your company’s profile.
  • Confirm your company details, including directors and shareholders.
  • Upload your financial statements or solvency statement.
  • Declare your AGM date (or exemption).
  • Pay the filing fee (S$60 for most companies, as of now).

Before submission, it is imperative to review all information for accuracy. Errors or outdated information can lead to complications and potential penalties. Company secretarial services can manage the entire filing process, ensuring precision and efficiency.

Step 4: Confirmation and Record-Keeping

Upon successful submission, ACRA will issue a confirmation. Retain this document as proof of timely filing. Additionally, review the updated company profile to ensure that all changes are accurately reflected. This step is crucial for maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance.

Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them

While the filing process is straightforward, several common pitfalls can lead to complications:

  • Missed Deadlines: ACRA enforces strict timelines. Companies have seven months from the financial year-end to file (or one month after the AGM, if applicable). Missing this deadline can result in fines starting at S$300. To avoid this, set reminders or engage a company secretary to manage deadlines.
  • Inaccurate Details: Outdated information regarding directors or addresses can cause issues. Conduct a thorough audit of your records before filing to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Financial Statement Errors: Incomplete or incorrect financials can lead to rejection by ACRA. Even exempt firms require a solvency statement. A company secretary can identify and rectify these gaps before submission.
  • Overconfidence in DIY Filing: While managing the process independently may seem feasible, compliance requires precision and expertise. Secretarial services provide valuable support, ensuring compliance and reducing the risk of errors.

The Role of Secretarial Services

Secretarial services are indispensable for businesses seeking to maintain compliance with ACRA. A company secretary functions as a personal organizer for your business, managing deadlines, verifying forms, and ensuring compliance. These services alleviate the administrative burden, allowing you to focus on core business operations.

In conclusion, filing annual returns with ACRA is a critical responsibility for businesses in Singapore. By preparing thoroughly, utilizing secretarial services, and adhering to compliance requirements, you can ensure a smooth and successful filing process. Embrace the support of a company secretary, and navigate the complexities of compliance with confidence and ease.

Now she has an apartment and job in NYC, but is working from Canada, and the company lawyers say there's nothing they can do.

I really cannot imagine traveling to the US at this point.
