What is OnlyOffice

Onlyoffice is an open source office suite, developed by Ascensio System, a company based in Riga, in Latvia.

It's not just your basic word processor, spreadsheet and presentation modules, though. These are of course available online or offline, but you also get access to a complete CRM, a projects management module, a webmail and calendar, and a internal social network.

How do you get it ?

There are multiple ways to get access to OnlyOffice. You can download their desktop editor, which will serve as your office suite, installed on your computer. They provide it in AppImage form, which ensures that any distro will be able to make use of it. The file itself is pretty light, less than 250 Mb. You can also get a deb, and RPM, a Snap, or a flatpak, so bascially whatever distro you're using, you can get access to it.

The desktop editors only include the word processor, the spreadsheet, and the presentation module. If you want access to the whole suite, you can go with the cloud service, or self host your own OnlyOffice.

The cloud service or the self hosted version aren't free though, and will currently set you back at least 66€ per year for one user, which is in the ballpark of a Microsoft Office 365 subscription, although with less cloud storage, 20Gb instead of 1Tb, and less tools, since you don't get an equivalent to OneNote, Publisher, or Access.

What can it do ?

OnlyOffice is a very capable office suite. First, the basic modules are highly compatible with Microsoft Office documents. Compared to other options, like LibreOffice, or GOogle docs, it just handles any type of document like a champ.

OnlyOffice can also open and edit Microsoft Office autoshapes, instead of just displaying them like basic images, and inline charts and tables inside of text documents can also be edited directly from the word processor, which is a nice plus. It works with plenty of file formats, including the Open Document Format that LibreOffice uses, so you're not losing access to anything, and it can export to PDF easily.

The interface is ribbon based, like Microsoft Office, so users won't feel too lost there, and you can open multiple documents in a single window thanks to tabs on the title bar. Tabs can be dragged out of the main window if you prefer having individual windows to work with. Be careful though, you need to have the main "Desktop Editor window" opened even if there are no document located in it, which is a bit weird.

The word processor supports everything you'd expect: font and styles, paragraph formatting, margins, page numbering, equations, drop caps, find and replace... It should work for most users here.

The spreadsheet module handles functions, and formulas, sorting and filtering, and obviously allows you to create charts and format them easily. For more advanced users, macros are supported, using Javascript , so no Office Macro support here, but you can recreate them if you can handle a bit of JS.

As per the presentation module, it has a bunch of themes to get you started, handles charts, tables, equations, as well as transitions and animations, including applying those in bulk. It also has a presenter mode with notes, which is a required feature for anyone who regularly gives talks or for students.

On top of these features, onlyoffice supports document versioning, so you can always get back to an older version, you can track changes and compare documents, and accept or reject the various changes, and all these modules support online collaboration, for multi-user editing of a document.

To complete this already excellent roundup, OnlyOffice has android and iOS apps to open and edit your documents on the go, with touch friendly interfaces.

Emerging Trends from Leading Concrete Batching Plant Manufacturers in 2025

Emerging trends in the concrete batching plant industry for 2025 are shaking up the game in ways that demand attention. If you think this is just about mixing concrete, think again. The manufacturers leading the charge are integrating jaw-dropping technology, insane levels of customization, and a relentless focus on sustainability. This isn’t some incremental upgrade—it’s a full-on revolution. Anyone still dragging their feet is going to get left in the dust. The industry is evolving fast, and if you want to keep pace (or beat the competition), you better know what’s coming.

The Tech Takeover: Automation and AI in Batching Plants

Smarter Systems Mean Less Human Error

The first big shakeup is the adoption of automation and AI. Concrete batching plants for sale are no longer just machines—they’re becoming intelligent ecosystems. AI algorithms monitor mix proportions, control timing, and even predict maintenance needs before something breaks down. This reduces human error, boosts efficiency, and saves a fortune on downtime. In 2025, if your plant isn’t smart, it’s pretty much obsolete.

Remote Monitoring and Control

Gone are the days when operators had to be chained to the control panel. Leading manufacturers now offer remote monitoring via cloud platforms. You can supervise your entire batching operation from your phone, tablet, or laptop, from anywhere on the planet. This connectivity isn’t just convenient; it’s a game-changer for project management, troubleshooting, and real-time adjustments.

Green Is Not Optional: Sustainability Takes Center Stage

Eco-Friendly Materials and Energy Efficiency

Environmental regulations are tightening, and concrete batching plant manufacturers are scrambling to meet these demands. Expect to see more batching plants engineered with energy-efficient motors, solar integration, and systems designed to reduce water usage. The concrete industry is notoriously wasteful, but 2025’s top manufacturers are slashing their carbon footprint—whether through low-emission mixing methods or recycling leftover materials.

Waste Reduction and Smart Resource Management

Smart batching plants minimize waste by optimizing material use precisely. There’s no room for sloppy excess anymore. Sophisticated sensors and software ensure that aggregates, cement, and additives are used to the exact gram. Not only does this cut costs, but it also keeps your project greener—earning you brownie points with regulators and clients alike.

Customization: Because One Size Fits No One

Tailor-Made Solutions for Complex Projects

Off-the-shelf batching plants are fine for the simplest jobs, but the big dogs are demanding tailored solutions. Manufacturers in 2025 are offering modular designs and customizable configurations that adapt to unique site conditions and project requirements. This means you get exactly what you need—no compromises.

Integration with Other Construction Technologies

Leading manufacturers aren’t stopping at batching plants alone. They’re integrating their systems with drones, GPS, and on-site data analytics to create a seamless workflow. Imagine a mobile batching plant that communicates with your project management software, your delivery trucks, and even your quality control lab. The future isn’t just about mixing concrete—it’s about orchestrating the entire construction symphony.

The concrete batching plant industry in 2025 isn’t for the faint-hearted or the complacent. Automation, sustainability, and customization are not buzzwords—they’re survival tools. If you want to dominate your market, aligning with manufacturers who lead in these trends isn’t optional. It’s a goddamn necessity.

I mean it’s not literally going to kill you but it’s pretty clear that it’s not good for adolescent development and it’s way safer to start at a later age. Just like alcohol. 18 tends to be where things calm down risk-wise. THC dependency/alcoholism are also far more likely with people who start at an earlier age.

I get you don’t have regrets about it but that doesn’t really change anything. Personally I have a lot of anxiety about brain damage (dramatic yes but you get the connection I’m sure), so for me it was an easy to decision to wait a bit.

And before people start getting all pissed off about it, I’m a frequent user of both. I’m not preaching prohibition/abstinence. But people should wait until they’re 18 before they start really using this stuff

in reply to psychOdelic

Actually yes there is such a thing as THC induced psychosis but it’s not so simple as “I smoked weed too early.” I’m more speaking to the negative impact on adolescent development if you smoke (usually somewhat regularly) too early. One toke is not going to have a big impact. The risk of psychosis has a lot more to do with family history and other conditions someone may have that may have not been diagnosed yet, such as BPD and schizophrenia. So yes I guess technically it would be higher risk for adolescence because they may have an undiagnosed condition that they’re not on guard about, but not exactly in the way that you’re implying.

The other thing to consider is that weed is exponentially more stronger than it was 15 or 20 years ago. Hell it’s increased in potency a lot even in the last 10 years. Shit is jet fuel at this point, you almost have to go out of your way to find bad weed now. I can take one hit from my dry herb vaporizer of bud from our mediocre medical dispensary and I’m more than good, even as a regular user.

How Does a Mobile Concrete Plant Ensure Construction Safety Under Complex Working Conditions?

In the construction industry, safety is of paramount importance, especially when working under challenging and complex conditions. Construction sites often present numerous risks, from unstable ground to extreme weather, and working with heavy machinery like concrete plants can exacerbate these dangers. A mobile concrete plant, which is designed for flexibility and efficiency, can significantly contribute to ensuring construction safety, even under the most demanding conditions. This article explores how mobile concrete plants play a crucial role in maintaining safety during construction projects, particularly under complex working environments.

Understanding the Challenges of Complex Construction Sites

Construction projects often take place in environments where risks are heightened. These sites may be located in remote areas, urban environments with limited space, or areas with unpredictable weather conditions. The nature of the work requires not only robust machinery but also a commitment to safety standards that protect workers and the surrounding environment.

A mobile concrete plant(planta de concreto movil) provides several advantages in such settings. Unlike traditional, stationary concrete plants, a mobile concrete plant can be quickly set up and moved to different locations, making it ideal for projects that require flexibility. However, ensuring safety under these circumstances involves a combination of advanced design features, operational practices, and constant vigilance.

Safety Features of Mobile Concrete Plants

Mobile concrete plants are equipped with various safety features designed to reduce risks and ensure safe operation. These plants are engineered to withstand harsh working conditions, while also incorporating the latest technology to improve safety. Below are key safety features that help ensure construction safety in complex working environments.

1. Robust and Stable Structure

The design of a mobile concrete plant is one of the most important factors in ensuring stability and safety. These plants are built with a heavy-duty structure that minimizes the risk of tipping or instability during operation. Stability is especially critical when working in areas with uneven terrain or on construction sites prone to vibrations. The plant's solid base ensures it remains firmly in place, even when subjected to these challenging conditions.

2. Emergency Shutdown Systems

One of the most effective ways to ensure safety is through emergency shutdown systems. Mobile concrete plants come equipped with emergency stop buttons that allow operators to immediately halt operations in case of a malfunction or unsafe condition. This feature can prevent accidents from escalating and gives operators the opportunity to address issues before they become more serious problems. Such systems are critical on construction sites where fast action can save lives and minimize damage to equipment and materials.

3. Dust and Noise Control

Construction sites, especially in urban or densely populated areas, can suffer from excessive dust and noise. Both of these factors can pose significant health risks to workers and nearby residents. Mobile concrete plants are equipped with advanced dust and noise control technologies, such as dust collectors, noise-insulating panels, and other systems that minimize airborne particles and noise levels. By managing dust and noise, the plant ensures that the working environment is safer and more comfortable for operators and construction workers alike.

Operational Practices for Ensuring Safety

While the design of a mobile concrete plant plays a key role in ensuring safety, how the plant is operated is just as important. The proper operational practices must be followed to ensure that the plant functions efficiently and safely, even in complex conditions.

1. Routine Maintenance and Inspection

Regular maintenance is essential for preventing equipment failure and ensuring the long-term safety of mobile concrete plants. Before each shift, operators should conduct thorough checks of the plant’s components, including the mixing unit, conveyors, electrical systems, and safety devices. These inspections help identify potential issues early, which can be addressed before they pose a risk to the operation. For example, checking hydraulic systems for leaks or ensuring that emergency stop buttons are functional can prevent hazardous situations from developing.

2. Operator Training and Certification

Properly trained operators are critical to ensuring safety on construction sites. Operators of mobile concrete plants must undergo comprehensive training that covers not only the technical aspects of running the equipment but also safety procedures. They should be well-versed in the specific features of the plant, including how to safely handle and adjust the ready mix concrete plant(planta de concreto premezclado), how to monitor for signs of mechanical failure, and how to implement safety protocols in emergency situations. Ensuring that all operators are certified and regularly updated on the latest safety practices is key to minimizing risks.

3. Monitoring and Control Systems

Modern mobile concrete plants come equipped with advanced monitoring and control systems that help operators track the plant's performance in real-time. These systems provide data on temperature, load, mixing speed, and other key parameters. If any irregularities or unsafe conditions arise, the system alerts the operator immediately. This real-time data allows operators to take proactive measures, such as adjusting the plant's settings or performing maintenance, to keep the equipment running safely.

Adapting to Challenging Environmental Conditions

Another important factor in ensuring safety is how a mobile concrete plant adapts to the specific challenges presented by the environment. These concrete plants(planta de concreto Chile) are designed to operate in a variety of conditions, from extreme heat and cold to high altitudes and remote locations.

1. Weather Resilience

Extreme weather can be a significant challenge on construction sites. Mobile concrete plants are built with weather-resistant materials and have features that allow them to function in diverse climates. Whether it's high winds, heavy rain, or freezing temperatures, a well-maintained mobile concrete plant can continue to operate safely. Additionally, operators should be trained to adjust the plant’s settings to suit specific weather conditions, such as modifying mixing speeds during hot or cold weather to ensure consistent concrete quality.

2. Flexible Setup for Space Constraints

On crowded construction sites, space limitations can make it difficult to position and operate equipment safely. A mobile concrete plant can be quickly deployed in small or constrained spaces. Its compact design and easy mobility allow for flexible setup, which helps reduce congestion on the site and ensures that the plant remains safely away from high-traffic areas.

Conclusion

Mobile concrete plants are an essential part of the construction industry, offering flexibility and efficiency in demanding environments. By incorporating robust safety features, following standardized operational practices, and adapting to environmental challenges, these plants ensure construction safety under complex working conditions. Whether it’s a large-scale concrete plant or a smaller ready mix concrete plant, proper design, operation, and maintenance of the plant are key to preventing accidents and ensuring a safe working environment for all. By maintaining these standards, construction companies can ensure that their operations run smoothly, no matter the complexity of the conditions.

The brand new Microsoft Edit, which is the successor of the old MS-DOS-editor will come soon to Linux as well?

There is a discussion going on how to call ms edit executable under Linux at: github.com/microsoft/edit/disc…

Microsoft Edit is fully written in Rust. And the source-code is actually fully open-source as well under MIT license 😮.

I personally would like see them calling it dos-edit or just dosedit, since that would be kinda funny. But I understand it will be called ms-edit instead.

I know Linux already has vi, vim, neovim and nano, ... and more... However is kind of ironic to see this binary be shipped to Linux distros. Of course it's already added to Arch btw: aur.archlinux.org/packages/ms-…

pretty much all ive used it for is like, dumb stock trady bullshits, and python/bash. occasionally some linux config stuff and to help me find competing products, but never more than like, a paragraphs worth of thinking. any more and it goes haywire real fast.

It works quite well if you design very strict instructions of what it needs to do, and how it needs to do it. I have used it to do complex analysis and drafting, but I have to basically have to treat it like i'm developing a little app and give it a tiny universe to operate in, and make it run QA & failure analysis on itself. Once I set that up, it automates a ton of stuff, but it cannot be left unsupervised.

I just finished speaking, by telephone, with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia. The call lasted approximately one hour and 15 minutes. We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides. It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields. We also discussed Iran, and the fact that time is running out on Iran’s decision pertaining to nuclear weapons, which must be made quickly! I stated to President Putin that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and, on this, I believe that we were in agreement. President Putin suggested that he will participate in the discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion. It is my opinion that Iran has been slowwalking their decision on this very important matter, and we will need a definitive answer in a very short period of time!

I am very pleased to announce that, after all of these years, I agree with Senator Elizabeth Warren on SOMETHING. The Debt Limit should be entirely scrapped to prevent an Economic catastrophe. It is too devastating to be put in the hands of political people that may want to use it despite the horrendous effect it could have on our Country and, indirectly, even the World. As to Senator Warren’s second statement on the $4 Trillion Dollars, I like that also, but it would have to be done over a period of time, as short as possible. Let’s get together, Republican and Democrat, and DO THIS!
