A researcher at the University of Michigan, Yunqing Jian, and her boyfriend, Zunyong Liu, were arrested for attempting to smuggle strains of the fungus Fusarium graminearum into the United States. The fungus, which is already prevalent in the U.S. and causes a common crop disease called Fusarium head blight or head scab, is believed to have originated in North America.

Fusarium graminearum is a disease that's common worldwide. Also a very common subject to plant pathology research.
Ignorant idiots, sabotaging their own country's research work by being so painfully illiterate.
This is what we could call "dihydrogene oxide syndrom", IMHO.
