A collection of very disturbing things have been happening in US policy recently. It adds up to a new era of threats that we need to take very seriously.
Dangerous language that dehumanizes people, the creation of the first ever list of all US citizens, a recently announced plan to start stripping people of their citizenship.
All of this is happening alongside massive funding for ICE and threats from the president to deport citizens and imprison them abroad.
1. Widespread rhetoric about who is a 'real' American, who deserves to be in the US, for example:
Congressman Gill: "If you refuse to adopt Western customs, go back to the Third World."
Miller: "NYC is the clearest warning yet of what happens to a society when it fails to control migration."
2. The creation of the very first ever list of citizens in the US, accessible by SSN
3. A plan to start stripping as many people of their citizenship as they can based on criteria that are "so vague as to be meaningless."
4. Increased funding for ICE, orders from ICE to limit congressional oversight, and the construction of even more migrant concentration camps.
