I like the content on Telegram for the most part, however, I prefer XMPP, Matrix and IRC. Also, Telegram and platforms like it are too intrusive. They require phone numbers and the content therein is locked in. It's just too much trouble to partake in.

We need to stay away from apps and web sites that require phone numbers or anything that is presumed intrusive. We got along fine without all the surveillance and we should always find ways to resist and circumvent the creaping controls being enacted.
@Emmanuel Florac What is most likeable about Telegram, is its varied content. However, many of them are exclusively tied to that platform and we may never get to know them unless we ourselves, are members. Telegram is not unlike Facebook, X and other platforms that wall in their users. I will not and do not interact with such platforms because of this restrictive, exclusionary, tendency.
I've not used signal extensively but as far as being a more secure platform, it seems to be more so than Telegram. Does Signal have the same types of groupings and channels as Telegram or is it just a secure communications app?
The problem when you try to adopt an exotic messaging platform, is that none of your friends or family wanna hear about it. Same goes with social media. When I left Facebook, with hundreds of "friends" including many dozen "real" friends, none of them followed me on diaspora. Zero. It's easier with videoconf, you just give them a link (a jitsi based platform) and chances are they won't even notice it's not zoom 😅
@Emmanuel Florac Yes I know some of the specs of Signal, however I've never had the opportunity to use it, since I don't know anyone else that uses it. I have friends that use Telegram but I don't use use it. The same is true for Facebook and Twitter and a host of other social media platforms. Instead of following the crowd I prefer to lean on the side of control and security. I use XMPP, Matrix, Mumble and IRC but only a few of my friends actually use any of those or all of them.

I have just checked it, with the search query ‘Klimaschindel’ which means that climate change is deliberately hyped, again only pages are displayed that show that all doubts about climate fraud are fake. These are so-called fact-checks, i.e. the Ministry of Truth, there are no other sites.
