#Haaretz is adding that #IDF arrested this morning (Monday) the chief editor of the Palestinian news agency Ma'an. Al-Laham is also the manager of the West Bank offices of the Lebanese channel Al-Mayadeen, which is affiliated with Hezbollah. According to Maan, last night IDF forces arrested him at his home in the village of al-Doha in the Bethlehem area, and during the arrest the forces caused destruction in his house. It was also reported that al-Laham is expected to be brought to the Ofer court this coming Thursday for a hearing on extending his detention. The IDF has not yet provided a response on the matter.
One of the reporters of this item is Jack Khoury. AFAIK, he was one of the first Israeli journalists working in mainstream media to publish evidence of the genocide in Gaza on his social media account.

Το πενταετές «Σχέδιο Δράσης 2025-2030» της Γενικής Γραμματείας Αντεγκληματικής Πολιτικής, προβλέπει την κατασκευή οκτώ νέων φυλακών, τη δημιουργία 6.800 νέων θέσεων κράτησης και την κατάργηση πέντε παλιών καταστημάτων. Με προϋπολογισμό 268 εκατομμυρίων ευρώ, η στρατηγική αυτή επενδύει σε υποδομές χωρίς να θίγει τις βασικές παθογένειες του σωφρονιστικού συστήματος και επιλέγει, αντί της αποσυμφόρησης, περισσότερα κάγκελα.

Το σχέδιο ήρθε να παρουσιαστεί από την κυβέρνηση ως απάντηση στον αυξανόμενο αριθμό εγκλείστων, οι οποίοι τον περασμένο Απρίλιο έφτασαν τους 12.351 πρώτη φορά μετά το 2013 (υπερπληθυσμός ύψους 115%), ενώ η χωρητικότητα των ελληνικών φυλακών φτάνει τις 10.760 θέσεις. Με μια συντηρητική εκτίμηση, ο αριθμός αυτός αναμένεται να φτάσει έως και τους 14.500 την επόμενη πενταετία.

Ja, es IST ein Rückschritt.
Aber zu sagen, dass es nur um eine Handvoll Populismus geht, geht an der eigentlichen Problematik vorbei. Der folgende Artikel ist nur einer von sehr vielen, der das Problem dort behandelt, wo es letztlich entsteht.
Das ist in meinen Augen dann auch Populismus - nur von der anderen Seite.

Für unsinnige Symbolpolitik. Eine Bekannte stand 14 Stunden an der polnischen Grenze im Stau. Die Leute werden unter Generalverdacht gestellt und Freiheiten Stück für Stück beschnitten.
