It's the birthday of science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein, born in Butler, Missouri, in 1907. He studied physics and mathematics at UCLA and then began writing science fiction, or, as he preferred to call it, "speculative fiction." His novel Stranger in a Strange Land, published in 1961, became a cult classic.

He said, "I think that science fiction, even the corniest of it, even the most outlandish of it, no matter how badly it's written, has a distinct therapeutic value because all of it has as its primary postulate that the world does change."

Yesterday's #sunset started rather humbly with a large amount of clouds and not much sun to be seen. (A typhoon was approaching.)

Waves were quite stronger than usual and I thought that capturing the sun a last time in the gap between clouds and horizon would be it.

But then the sun had disappeared behind the horizon and lit up more and more clouds from below.

That was quite a spectacle and the fiery red clouds spread more and more. Only for a short time, but that was impressive.

DOJ released 11 hours of video outside Epstein's cell. One of the comments I found from someone who watched it:

They may have used the old 'take a picture of the hallway and put it in front of the camera' trick from Mission Impossible. Or more likely the looped camera footage one. If you look closely at the video, you can see the same cockroach take the same path across the upper right hand corner of the frame seven times. 😂
