You can't just arrive as a strike team out of the blue, eviscerate current officials and take their place â that is unlikely to work.
Legitimacy is the most important thing! People not only have to hate their government â they have to like what you stand for. If you're assassinating officials, attacking law enforcement and setting the city on fire and people like you â you're brave revolutionaries, but otherwise you're just terrorists and they might even start flocking to their current government. Besides, authorities aren't in the capital only â even if you manage to take the capital over, what if regional governments tell you to "literally fuck your own face"? To you have enough fighters to cover that? Every regional government and their law enforcement? Without legitimacy it's just civil war. Then there are international matters â who recognises that your bunch of fanatics represents the country? Case in point: Taliban taking over Afghanistan, they are de-facto controlling the country, now what? Selling opiates to Russia which itself is still considered somewhat legitimate and recognises you is the best you can hope for. I think legitimacy is the cornerstone of any revolution.

@picofarad I'm 3 months post surgery and spent the first 6 weeks in a neck brace limited to lifting 8lbs, then the brace came off and I was allowed 15lbs, and after today weight restrictions have been removed (within reason). I can now replace the 10lb resistance bands with 30+ and get back to working out, and setting up my massage table so that I can stretch and not have to deal with getting up off the floor.
Playing around with adding little owls to my tree mugs. I have a feeling these will warp pretty badly because I wasn't patient enough to wait for the slabs to set up, but sometimes that's how it goes. Trees aren't perfectly symmetrical, right?

It all went well (slow, but hey) but one thing that I still can't get around (that I didn't experience so much last time I tried it) is the console. Control chars get printed instead of arrow and home/end keys, no colors, etc. Hate to say it, but all in all, it feels backwards compared to a modern, full-fledged console environment of #FreeBSD or Linux. And it's starting to wear me out.
But I have a feeling that this is somehow my fault for not configuring the console properly or using the right output or something. I never had to deal with this before, so anybody knows how I can configure this so I can have a modern env in NetBSD?

I don't want a counter for notifications. It bothers me and it's a pain in the arse to get rid of constantly. I can't find a way to get rid of it - it should be on a setting, in my opinion.

Every interface should have a 'turn off annoying little counters' option! I hate notifications like this - they just sit there nagging you to click on them like annoying little yappy dogs yapping for attention. Bog off, yappy notification!

Anyone know of a guide for generating an SSH key file (.pem or .ppk) for allowing FileZilla (file transfer program) to access a remote server with a key file instead of a password?
So far, what I have tried has not worked. I am likely missing a step, but not sure what it is.
Generate your key and make sure you save the private (to use by you on the client) and the public (to be used in the server)
I use a private ppk in my sftp client (prefer winscp over filezilla), (I save the private key without password for my servers)
I am assuming you have access (ssh) to the remote server. I copy the public key as ssh-rsa must be copied into <home>/.ssh/authorized_keys The authorized_keys file must be something like this: ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAABJQAAAQEAhJz1HtW+s2po/vcPIpcQJKj5rMHCC0v0zagfZ8XlrvpoRn2FK (putty keygen gives you the option of copy pasting, I prefer to save both public and private to text just in case, but make sure you don't mix EOL).
So it works very similar to how password-less ssh entry works in that you copy the public key to the authorized_files on the remote server in the user you want to login as.

sftp is transferring files using ssh envelope. The only difference is in the client (if I were copying from another linux/unix server I would have to put the private key in ~/.ssh/id_rsa 700 ) but using a windows client is some click on the connection to configure it.
Yeah, the Windows client is throwing a wrench in my approach and understanding. I'll give what you suggested a try.

Since I don't have password enabled for this user on the remote system, I can't do the equivalent of "ssh-copy-id" on Windows (if that is even something that can be done).
I used windows puttygen to generate. In windows it should be just specifying what file contains the private key. If you don't have a password for the remote system, how are you going to update authorized_keys file ?
I think you've pointed me in the right direction. Just need to try a few things out and make sure it works from Windows (FileZilla, though I should also try WinSCP).
Debian server on DigitalOcean Cloud. A default is to use a private key to login to root. No passwords for remote entry. No other users, besides root, set up with the default Debian on DigitalOcean.
I set up the additional user with "adduser" with the "--disabled-password" option.
I kind of like it, but do not have a whole lot of experience with "cloud" yet. The default of not using any passwords does seem more secure. Not even the possibility of a brute force password login attack.
Thank you for your help and guidance. As a result, I now understand this better and was able to connect from FileZilla on Windows to a Debian server.
Understanding the authorized_keys part was "key".
I had never used PuttyGen on Windows, but it makes sense now that I've done that. Very helpful that it shows the text to put in the remote server account's "authorized_keys" file.
