Personally, I doubt he'll release them (unless he rebrands them as the "Maxwell Files").
He's a businessman. He had something he wanted to see made law and an amazing leverage tool. His law passed, the files disappear (during a holiday weekend on which a natural disaster occurred).
Doesn't matter if he destroys his own base, while he jokes about a third term he would never actually go for it. He managed to get his legacy bill passed.
