You're right in general, but there are so many cases where the safest advice is "seek a qualified professional", and I generally assume that if someone is asking online then this is already not a realistic option for them.

Perifractic's resurrected Commodore is selling their new C64 Ultimate for less than 25% of that price. I cannot argue with their design choices or the price tag -- even if I have conflicting feelings about paying it, because I'm cheap.
