Quick note about android blocking sideloading (as Techlore pointed out in their recent video):
if you’re running a custom rom that doesn’t use google play services system-wide, you’ll be safe from this and still be able to download any apps you want from any store (grapheneOS users can sleep well tonight).

that said tho, i imagine that’s not a whole lot of people, and sideloading a custom rom is getting especially harder these days (looking at you Samsung).

Software in FreeBSD/GhostBSD isn't ported from Linux. It is built from source just like on Linux. In fact, if you use the FreeBSD ports tree, you will get the latest software available. There is also a Linux emulation layer on FreeBSD for any software that you can't find.

The downside to FreeBSD is that it doesn't have the same level of hardware support as Linux. If I could get FreeBSD to run on a laptop as well as Linux, I would drop Linux in a heartbeat.

you can use AndFLDigi to transmit digital messages over analog radio (and receive/decode), so if you had a way to "encrypt" and "decrypt" text on the phone, ephemerally, you could send ASCII messages that looked like garbage. I reckon next to *no* LEO would know what is going on. Even if they find the radios and the frequency, if the secret (probably PSK) is kept secure and rotated frequently enough, at least once a day, say, it seems that it would be extremely effective.

@ThatCrazyDude @bquirky right, nothing i am saying is novel, i'm putting the idea of the entire system into the ether so people know that there is an incorruptible way to do radio coms in the open. you can use those $30 pairs of FRS radios from any big box store to operate with ephemeral, secure messages.

No one will, but it is nice to know that if someone ever asks me if it's possible i can say "yea, here" instantly instead of "i gotta think about this"

I firmly believe the number 1 thing that has bothered "normies" over several decades of computing has been weird bugs which cause devices to feel capricious and unreliable and taunting. Good programmers have spent *a lot of brain power for a lot of hours* to develop fully deterministic, reproducibly reliable systems…

…only for our godforsaken industry to flush all of that reliability completely down the toilet with horrendously nonsensical datafart slop monsters.

Here's an idea. What about any companies which pay their workers so little that they have to claim benefits are subject to government fines to reclaim some of that money? Isn't that better than companies who pay their workers so little they have to claim benefits which are paid for by the tax payer while the company takes huge profits?
