"Amnesty #Israel finds itself in the awkward position of being neither a source of legal expertise, nor providing a diverse human rights perspective of Israelis and #Palestians. It is just another place for Israeli Jews to express themselves.

When I became chairman of Amnesty Israel in January 2024, there were no Palestinians on the board of managers or in managerial positions on staff. By way of comparison, this is a lower standard than the one found in Israeli public service and government-owned corporations, which are, according to the attorney general’s guidelines, at least obligated to have a proper representation of Arabs “in all ranks and professions, in every office and auxiliary unit,” including the board of directors.
I insisted on Palestinian representation in managerial roles, but nothing changed. Members of management and the board were reluctant to make the necessary structural adjustments. "

All these plans are built on the assumption that Russia will accept a ceasefire; yet the more they are announced, the more the chances of a ceasefire are cemented at zero. This war started to prevent further NATO presence in Ukraine and, as they're winning, why would the Russians suddenly stop so NATO "peacekeepers" can come in?

Of course the financiers are delighted. They have a new phrase "military Keynesianism" which means corporate welfare for banks & arms firms.

Ich wollte einmal darauf hinweisen das einer der Gründe das viele selbst da wo der ÖPNV via Bus gut verfügbar und gut gemacht ist, die Verbindung via Bus meiden, da eine Fahrt damit nicht so viel angenehmer als auf der Ladefläche eines Pritschenwagens ist. Gerade bei längeren Strecken im ländlichen Bereich schlägt sich auch das massiv nieder.

Moderne Linienbusse sind in Sachen Barrierefreiheit und Transportkapazität den im ländlichen Bereich früher einmal oft eingesetzten Reisebussen in vielen überlegen, aber eben nicht in allem. Den wenn es um den Fahrkomfort geht, verlieren die modernen Linienbusse auf voller Länge. Da fangen die Busse schon bei kleinen Unebenheiten und schlechter Straße an zu rütteln und zu vibrieren wir irre, daran sich vor oder nach der Arbeit noch ein wenig zu erholen ist nicht zu denken. Das Smartphone, Tablet oder gar Laptop zu benutzen ist oft reine Glückssache und auch die Polsterung der Sitze die einiges abfangen könnte, wird seit vielen Jahren immer mieser. Ja das sind im Endeffekt Luxusprobleme und Überfüllung, ausgefallene Klimatisierung und Heizungen sind schlimmer. Aber das ist eben auch ein Punkt der sehr wichtig ist, wenn man Menschen davon überzeugen will von ihrem bequemen Auto auf den ÖPNV zu wechseln.
