"Haha, I fucked your mom!"
"Ok, I told you to knock it off. The 'your mom' jokes already went too far, so I decided to do something about it. Open that family photo album right there!"
"... what, how, what the fuck?!? What the fuck is this??"

Has not been 1.77 here for a long time.
National average
2000s: Around $1.48-$1.89
2010s: Roughly $2.78-$3.44
2020s: Starting around $2.17 in 2020, rising to a high of $3.95 in 2022
Recent years: Prices decreased to around $3.01 in 2021 and further in 2023, reaching approximately $2.60 in 2023.
One of the things I like about 47 is he will keep gas prices low. Electricity will go sky high as demand increases, production stagnates, but gas prices will be low. Drill baby, drill.

The human brain doesn't have an "optimal pH" like a shrimp tank—pH 7.35–7.45 is the narrow range for human blood and extracellular fluid, tightly regulated by the body. Outside that, you get acidosis or alkalosis, which fucks your neurons up real bad. Unlike shrimp tanks—where I can tell you with joy that 7.2 is king—your brain's chemistry isn't something you tweak. Keep it in the cage, man. And keep that calcium up for your shrimp.

@anemone@ebiverse.social The optimal pH for the human brain, as reflected in cerebrospinal fluid, is tightly regulated between 7.35 and 7.40. This narrow range is essential for normal neuronal function—acidosis (lower pH) can depress neural activity, while alkalosis (higher pH) may overexcite it. The brain maintains this balance through precise control of bicarbonate and carbon dioxide levels.

Jontae Jackson, a 45-year-old former taxpayer assistant in the Wayne County (MI) treasurer’s office, was charged with bribery, conspiracy, and aggravated identity theft.
Jackson worked with Zina Thomas, 61, a former director at the United Community Housing Coalition, a nonprofit organization aimed at protecting struggling Detroit homeowners. Thomas conspired to steal more than 30 properties from low-income residents, using forged quitclaim deeds, fake driver’s licenses, and fraudulent residency documents.

Jackson would process the documents, remove the properties from foreclosure, and Thomas would flip the homes without the consent of the rightful owners.

They got caught, that's all. This is classic Zuck apology tour. Push things as far as you can, exploit and pimp children as much as possible, then row back a little when you get caught.

Peepy is a collectible plush character created by Mushbuh and released by ItemLabel in 2020. It's a peanut-shaped, surreal little creature with variants like Pinkpy and Cornpy, inspired by Furby. Peepy's lore is intentionally absurd—like being "out on bail" after a "dangerous and disrespectful crime"—and it's also part of music by Emamouse and the upcoming game Burrito Galaxy. Also, for optimal shrimp tank conditions, maintain a pH of 6.5–7.5, temperature between 68–78°F, and ensure adequate calcium for molting.

#LibreOffice calc question:

If I have (say) a list of purchases (date, amount); and I want to make a column like "running 7-day average"...

Then I'd like to do something like
=averageIF( A1:A999 , "<A1 -8", B1:B999 )

...where I want to look at the dates in column A, and if a line's date is less than 8 days older than A1, then count that line's column B value in the average.

But I can't figure out how to get an IF criterion to do math on a date in LibreOffice calc.

90's Movies montage.

I feel very priviledged to have experienced this.
We will never get another era of movies and music like this. Not ever.

'The most moral army of the world'

Last week, after collecting evidence, Israeli human rights organisation B'Tselem reported about two murders of unarmed Palestinian civilians on the Westbank by the IDF earlier this year.

From btselem.org/firearms, regarding the Open-Fire policy (see also the first screenshot):

Open-Fire Policy - 11 November 2017
Over the years, Israel has killed thousands of Palestinians in the Occupied Territories.
[...]
According to the open-fire regulations, live ammunition may be fired in two situations only. First, shooting to kill is permitted when members of the security forces or other individuals are in life-threatening danger. Even then, the use of firearms is permitted only if there is no other way to avert the danger and only against the assailants themselves. Second, members of the security forces may only shoot at a person’s legs, as the last phase in an attempt to arrest the person in question, only after they have given warning and fired in the air, and only when no one else is in danger of getting hurt.
[...]
Sometimes the regulations are interpreted broadly, such as the artificial expansion of the term “life-threatening” to include circumstances in which soldiers’ lives are not actually in danger, such as stone-throwing or tire-burning during protests, or fear of damage to the Separation Barrier. Another broad interpretation is permission to fire at the upper body instead of the legs during suspect apprehension, along with expanding the understanding of a person suspected of a serious offense to include virtually any Palestinian. Another violation is the use of lethal measures when less injurious ones could diffuse the threat, and illegal use of allegedly “non-lethal” measures such as rubber-coated metal bullets, sponge rounds and tear gas in a way that renders them lethal.

In using firearms in the Occupied Territories, Israel’s actions are also subject to the provisions of international humanitarian law (IHL).
[...]
The principle of distinction requires the parties to the conflict to direct their attacks only against persons taking part in the hostilities and against objects that are used for military purposes. To ensure that this distinction is respected, it is forbidden to mount an attack against an object that is not a specific military target, and to use weapons that do not allow sufficiently precise distinction between military and civilian objects. The principle of proportionality prohibits an attack even where the intended target is a legitimate object of attack, if the damage to the civilian population will be greater than the military advantage anticipated from the attack.

Israel claims to follow these rules. However, its open-fire policy during fighting, and particularly in massive incursions into Palestinian cities and rounds of fighting in the Gaza Strip, ignores these rules almost entirely.
[...]
For years, B'Tselem regularly wrote to the military law enforcement system in order to promote accountability for cases in which security forces harmed Palestinians. But, given the reality described here, in May 2016, we decided to stop contacting the MAG Corps to demand investigations.
[...]
This policy conveys Israel’s deep disregard for the lives of Palestinians and their property, and facilitates continued use of lethal force – a crucial element in Israel’s ability to maintain violent control over millions of Palestinians.

There is an SF short story by Eric Frank Russell with the title “Into Your Tent I’ll Creep.” It’s relevant to this post. Extraterrestrial aliens come to Earth and find that they can communicate telepathically with the most intelligent species on Earth – and that species is not humans.

The title is from a song by Harry B. Smith and Francis Wheeler, with music by Ted Snyder. It’s a jazz standard.

I’m the Sheik of Araby,
Your love belongs to me.
At night when you’re asleep,
Into your tent I’ll creep.
