“Computer science isn’t political!”, they said. “I’m just going to develop AI products for startup cash and to draw cute girls”, they said. “You’re over reacting and making everything political”, they said.

"Twenty years ago, on August 29, 2005, a huge hurricane hit the Gulf Coast. New Orleans's levees failed, as had been predicted, and much of the city went underwater. Although the authorities had issued a mandatory evacuation order, they had provided no resources to the many who were too poor to evacuate. They were left behind."

"Authoritarians love to tell stories of crime and depravity, usually about whoever is portrayed as the outsider, the intruder--nonwhite, non-Christian, non-straight, non-native people, stories in which harsh measures, suppression of freedom and dissent, are necessary to institute a kind of order that is in fact repression and forced homogeneity."

Nigga wdym mesoamerica and aztecs had hairless cats??? Theres old documents talking about them, and how in winter they would grow fur on their backs. The last 2 were found in 1902 new mexico, afterwards they were marked as extinct, theyre not related to the modern hairless cats as those are a genetic creation from the 1960s in canada :02_think:

Still, its weird that its never been brought up, its a shame bc they sound like a pretty interesting species to study, maybe itd be a genetic thing like xolo dogs and axolotes, the hairless dogs being a weird genetic mutation, in very few cases are the dogs born with hair as they should, likewise with the axolote since theyre perpetually stuck in their acuatic forms and rarely do they turn into fullly developed salamanders and lose the gills, funny stuff

Also sucks they were able to bring back an ancient dog breed (calupoh) but not the cats

Lemme tell ya, my dear spic in siesta, that in Europe the Auroch (Bos primigenius) was a gigantic prehistoric cow that is the precursor of all modern bovines. It went extinct during the middle ages. And let's not forget the legends of Cockatrices might have been a descendant of the Velocirraptor.

If around there you had hairless cats and all that just imagine how many weird animals you might have had in America. Like old legends being partially true regarding strange animals.

in reply to Morghur the Inkgave

@Morghur yeah ive heard of aurochs. Not too sure on cockatrices, but it couldve well been a type of large bird whos legend stuck around :Akko_Think:

Also theres some prehispanic documents speaking of the Onza, a weird long cat that resembles a lynx or a bobcat, smaller than a jaguar, even spanish documents claim to have seen it in moctezumas zoo, along with bisons and other animals that could only be found way beyond mexicos territory. The onza has become a modern day cryptid lol, some claiming to have hunted it, weird stuff

Well crafted and told to convey the story.

I am very impressed with the research and delivery of this video. I think he hits the nail on the head here.

I think the story is well told to convey the kind of the deeply disturbing way the data for every American citizen and every American business I might add has been hijacked and sucked into the mall of the richest men and arguably the most insane men in the world

August 31, 2025 @ 21:38 Good evening family & friends❣️ Our day is nearly over but it was a good one for sure! #Musicians of the #fediverse ... especially those that play #horns/ #brass/ #trumpets/ #saxophones/ #trombones, etc.

Can you tell me what is going on at the start of this music clip? There's a horn section playing and it's very syncopated with a very fast tempo. I'd love to learn what's it actually called what the musicians are playing. (Not the song, the song is Push On Til The Day by Trey Anastasio. It's a fusion/ funk song.) But what they're doing with the horns really moves me.

I'm just curious.

I just noticed the chassis of my Thinkpad T480 bulging near the screen. this is the rear battery after I removed it! now contained in a horse trough full of dirt outside the house!

I'm fortunate that this happened while I was actively using the laptop! and also that the laptop has 2 batteries, so even without this one it is not confined to being plugged in 100% of the time.

I believe this battery is from @iFixit - gifted to me by a friend - and is the second failed battery from that order! I thought iFixIt sourced good batteries but now I'm not so sure. unknown as of yet if the battery is still under warranty.

cc @matthew - if I can scrape together the money in coming weeks I want to get a T480 keyboard and maybe a battery from you, unless it's really more cost-effective to order direct (but from who?)
