When we still lived in Schöneberg (Berlin district) my woman saw Blixa Bargeld, grocery shopping, when suddenly an eternally long American vintage convertible pulled up alongside and honked loudly, with Nick Cave at the wheel. Once he stepped on my toes in the Metropol Theatre, nearby. He didn't apologise. Or maybe I just didn't hear it over the noise.
Have no photos. I think those where the only occasions we met him while not on stage. But Schöneberg was the in-quarter at that time for this black post-punk scene and I guess he also must have lived somewhere there.

But sound still useless. NowI think I'll buy a little multitracker second hand today. It's another 165 euro, but then it's time to really get going here. I always found it funny the folks who are just busy with equipment but don't actually make music with it. Just like the guys working on their cars or bikes all the time and then leave it in the garage so it won't get scratches.
But I got the impression with all this permanently changing electronics-stuff, even many who think they are pros got their problems too. I have looked at the page of a big music-store and they explained why I need an audio interface:

Thus, an audio interface is the centre of the modern studio. Whether for home recording or a professional studio, you will find the right audio interface in our shop.
But I can have all that on many devices, including most of it on my old 19" rack. If I'm not mistaken, the the main raison d'être of such an "audio interface" in question is to convert analog signal into digital data (ADC). Actually surprising that so many, including the Macbook, claim to do that but actually fail.
I could hear that impressively: Great guitar sound with headphone in preamp. Line output to line input of mac (Twhich they claim it will work properly) -- and the sound is just total crap. A muddy mess of frequencies, deep bass and high harmonics seemingly completely lost. Just the same with the cheap consumer sound card. I haven't thought this is still so much a problem after all these decades of digitalization (first CD in 1979 or something!), that they obviously still can't simply do it but you need to buy specialized expensive devices for that simple step
And I wonder how we did that when we made harddisc-recording in the 90s. There was no such "audio interface". If I'm not wrong, the Atari Falcon simply had audio inputs like a hifi. Probably with Cinch, as I still have tons of various adaptor-plugs to cinch. So there was an ADC in the computer and we never cared about it and didn't notice any loss of sound quality. Actually it should be possible for Apple to still be doing something like that, 30 years later.
Actually, thinking now, my first Mac also had these same ordinary audio inputs with cinch. Now I remember. But I also remember not really trusting these, as the ADC produced noticeable background noise, unlike the Atari.
