And, if psychopathy is bad because it cares nothing for the group - then why is the group supposed to be more important than the individual? (And which group is the most important, and why - of all the many groups of which we are members?)

My point is that the concept of psychopathy cannot replace the need for an understanding of evil; and when it is used for that purpose, then the concept has serious problems - and is itself being used in the mainstream discourse to advance the totalitarian/ globalist agenda.

Hare reports that about 1 percent of the general population meets the clinical criteria for psychopathy. Hare further claims that the prevalence of psychopaths is higher in the business world than in the general population. Figures of around 3–4% have been cited for more senior positions in business. A 2011 study of Australian white-collar managers found that 5.76 percent could be classed as psychopathic and another 10.42 percent dysfunctional with psychopathic characteristics.

Tack on to this the approximate estimate that 1 in 25 are sociopaths, and the timeless idiom that "s**t always floats to the top" [see example of the business world cited above], you have the perfect recipe for the totally f****d up world we have.

Помимо отражения атаки, будет также отработана контратака. Это, по словам немецкого вице-адмирала Яна Кристиана Каака, должно продемонстрировать РФ готовность сил Североатлантического альянса постоять за себя в этом регионе.

Учения получили название «Северное побережье». В них принимают участие более 30 кораблей и около трех тысяч военных из всех стран альянса, которые, помимо прочего, проведут десантные операции и будут тренироваться наносить удары с моря по суше. От США на учениях будет представлен 200-метровый корабль Mesa Verde, который способен транспортировать и обеспечивать высадку примерно 800 морпехов.

tried to buy horse paste last week from a trusted supplier - nope - they said my address wasn't valid. which might have been true, since I moved, and it's new construction, and the address hasn't been all-the-way verified in the county records.

tried again today, and my card got declined. big banner on their website to call my credit union.

called the credit union, and they said there is unusual fraud activity for that vendor. They issued a temporary pass so I tried it again.

Got rejected again. I called and they manually tried to run it - nope. So I had to cancel my order.

was it really #fraud, or was it the #banksters? remember: they are the ones who lied about horsepaste. but no one's in jail, right? so they got away with (and are still getting away with) their little lie.....

Южный окружной военный суд рассмотрит уголовное дело в отношении граждан Украины Алексея Макаренко, Дамиана Омельяненко и Артура Шашенока. Их обвиняют в теракте за убийство полицейского, Омельяненко уже попадал к силовикам и после освобождения рассказывал о пытках.

По версии следствия, осенью 2022 года обвиняемые устроили взрыв, в результате которого был ранен замначальника отдела ГИБДД в оккупированном Бердянске Александр Колесников. Позже он умер полученных травм, кроме того, двое его спутников получили тяжелые ранения. Ими, по сообщению кремлевских СМИ, были комендант оккупированного Бердянска полковник Артем Бардин и первый замглавы оккупационной администрации Павел Ищук.

Макаренко, Омельяненко и Шашенока судят по статьям о совершении теракте, участии в террористическом сообществе и незаконном обороте оружия, информация о деле размещена в картотеке суда. 7 сентября материалы передали судье Южного окружного суда Сергею Ярошу, данные об этом есть в судебной картотеке. Дата заседания пока не назначена.

Дамиан Омельяненко ранее задерживали в мае 2022 года из-за его татуировок – двух скрещенных топоров на груди, рассказывала украинским СМИ его мать Татьяна Омельяненко. Его обвиняли в членстве в националистической организации, после освобождения Омельяненко рассказал матери, что подвергся пыткам током и избиениям со стороны сотрудников ФСБ и "второго такого раза не переживет". В ноябре 2022 года он был повторно арестован с другими обвиняемыми.

As I read up on Deno’s plan for a package registry I realise that whereas “node but better and more webby” is 👍🏻, “npm but better and more webby” isn’t necessarily a good idea.

I guess I don’t want a registry, I want something more like debian’s package archive for web modules with maintainers and managers whose priority is making sure that the package is safe and usable and aren’t necessarily involved in the making of the code that’s being packaged.

Il avait vécu en épicurien ; il s’est donné la mort en stoïcien, le canon de l’arme retourné contre sa bouche. Le bon vivant Allende, ce 11 septembre 1973, eut une fin à la romaine. Cela n’était pas prévu. Qu’il partirait pour la légende. Et resterait dans les mémoires. Il y avait deux hommes en lui, et du dehors on n’avait vu, jusqu’alors, le soussigné comme les autres, que le premier : un rad-soc de bonne humeur, confiant dans la muñeca (1), aimant le pisco, la bonne chère, les blagues et les jolies femmes. Car Allende avait de l’humour, chose rare à gauche, où l’esprit de sérieux est de tradition, et ne posait pas au héros qu’il deviendrait un jour. Il n’avait ni barbe ni béret, el compañero Presidente. De grosses lunettes d’écaille, une petite moustache débonnaire, la voix goguenarde et chaleureuse, de bonne humeur, fraternel et même franc-maçon — comme Pinochet du reste. Tout, dirais-je, pour éloigner les ombres fatidiques — et tromper son monde.

Sortant de prison, en Bolivie, des semaines durant, j’ai été son invité, celui de Neruda aussi, dans sa maison d’Isla Negro, et me repens encore du petit ton prétentieux de donneur de leçons marxiste-léniniste qui fut le mien en conversant avec le président du Chili devant la caméra de Littin. Lui, le « réformiste » ; moi, le « révolutionnaire ». Un cliché. Un jeu de rôles. La boursouflure de l’époque. Ma seule excuse : près de quatre années d’isolement en cellule, de quoi se monter le bourrichon. Et rêver, bêtement, de châteaux en Espagne.

Le Chili d’alors, il est vrai, euphorique et balnéaire (mais le Pacifique est très froid), cachait bien son jeu. Pas punitive et puritaine pour un sou, l’Unité populaire. Optimiste. Pas faite pour la haine ni la hargne, passion noire et visqueuse — et lointain était le suicide du président Balmaceda, au siècle précédent. Le martèlement des casseroles, dans les beaux quartiers, ne faisait pas oublier les huîtres, de merveilleux oursins, et un blanc savoureux. Plus d’aimables créatures, un Congrès très actif, des militaires civilisés. On disait : un parfum d’Europe du bout du monde, une Angleterre en Amérique du Sud. On oubliait celle du Nord, qui en silence préparait et finançait la guerre (10 millions de dollars, pour commencer, en fonds spéciaux). Blocus, financements, sabotages et, quand nécessaire, assassinats. Camionneurs, mines de cuivre, la Maison Blanche et la CIA ne chômaient pas. Mais c’est après qu’on l’apprendra. La presse a parfois du retard, les militants aussi. Au pays de la bonhomie et des compromis de dernière minute, il n’était pas bien de penser à mal. La férocité n’était pas au programme. Allende, qui se laissait tutoyer, sans rancune, me montrait souvent, en souriant, sur son bureau une photo dédicacée du Che : « à Salvador Allende, qui va au même endroit par d’autres chemins ». On peut penser légitimement qu’un autre chemin mène à un autre endroit, mais cela semblait une aimable et très irréaliste métaphore.

« La démocratie est un exercice de modestie », disait Camus. Elle s’apprend avec l’âge et on peut abréger les délais. Je ne nierai pas que le Chili, où je suis souvent revenu jusqu’au coup d’État (attendu mais sous des formes plus ou moins gentilles), a précipité l’apprentissage d’un petit Français trop sûr de lui. L’immolation d’un grand monsieur, qui n’en avait ni l’air ni la prétention, avec, dans la foulée, tant de camarades assassinés, nous rappelle que le tragique peut encore, en Occident et sous des masques paisibles, nous sauter à la figure. Une leçon à garder dans un coin de sa tête, même quand, c’est mon cas, la tête s’est désintéressée du jeu politique. Pourvu que le cœur se souvienne que ce n’est pas toujours ni partout un petit jeu anodin. Compañero Allende, ne disparais pas. On te doit tellement dans l’Europe oublieuse comme ailleurs, un peu partout. S’en souvenir, cinquante ans après, n’est jamais de trop.

The CEO of Warner Bros. is telling his shareholders that they are underutilizing the franchises they own, among them D.C., Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

Leaving D.C. aside, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings have had good to great adaptations already. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by remaking Peter Jackson's adaptations and quite a bit to lose - mostly money.

Harry Potter had near perfect casting, with the only blight being Richard Harris dying and being replaced by a much less charismatic actor. No one will ever equal Alan Rickman as Snape.

Back to LOTR, imagine having to fill Viggo Mortenson or Andy Serkis' shoes. Even that old queen Ian McKellan is perfect as Gandalf. It's hard to think of a role that isn't brilliantly cast, King Theoden, Eomer and Eowyn are absolutely spot on.

Of course the CEO hasn't the slightest idea that franchises aren't all perpetual sliding timeline money machines like The Simpsons or... The Simpsons.

Really, that almost never happens.
