To watch the Prime Minister say that trans women should use men's toilets broke my heart. To watch Labour MPs celebrating trans genocide made me weep. To watch a Labour government pursuing a trans agenda that would make Donald Trump jealous makes me afraid.
This is genocide against trans people. Noted transphobe Graham Linehan said the Supreme Court ruling means it's time to start sexually assaulting any woman who looks like she might be trans.
But trans people aren't the only ones who will be harmed by this government's actions. Any woman who doesn't look sufficiently feminine will be the target of violent transphobes – and this will predominantly harm women of colour.

I'm based in The Netherlands and converted our home to all-electric (heat pump) over the past two years. Works like a charm, BUT there is such a thing as net congestion which means the power cables couldn't supply enough energy if everyone in my street converted as well. There's a huge amount of cabling infra that needs to be upgraded in the upcoming years / decades. Therefore, more and more people are looking at small heating net cooperatives instead.
Heck, the gas company here in BC is giving out $10,000 rebates for people to install dual heat-pump/gas furnace systems (heat pump runs on electricity above a set outdoor temp, gas furnace kicks in below that temp.)

There is some controversy from growing misinformation in the US as well. It’s becoming a more common refrain to hear that heat pumps will “stop heating and blow cold air when it gets below 40F outside” (4C). I’ve even heard this from an HVAC contractor. Big Oil is on the offensive.
If the so called Labour government cannot arrange a sane BBC, if it indeed is itself sane enough to understand how raging mad this is, then there is no point in Labour and rhe British working class needs to look at different solutions.

Cheap effective, not a DIY job to install but the new models are well within any competent plumber/gas fitter ability to install. Indeed I suspect as the connections on air source ones are entirely water based or electrical, easier than making a gas tight fitting.

Heatpumps are controversial in Germany, too. They are one of the many reasons our previous government failed. Maybe oversimplified, but there were "religious" discussions about gas vs. heat pump two years ago, and the economics minister (green party) became enemy no. 1 for many conservatives and fossile lobyists.

Heat pumps aren't controversial inside the UK, either, except for a govt that's weak, unimaginative, and in thrall to fossil fuels, which wants to avoid at all costs public discussion of that fact.
Heatpumps are used widely here in New Zealand, a climate a bit wetter than UK at times, though sunnier. It dips below 10 degrees a fair bit during winter.
While insulation is important, so is ventilation to minimise mould. A heat pump's output serves an open plan lounge-diner, but is localised. Ventilation systems carry it to bedrooms etc. Air exchange between indoor and outdoor is needed. Block it and you get mould as with GCH.
Anyone who actually thinks a heat pump should be an area of "public controversy" has never taken a physics course covering thermodynamics. Nearly every dwelling in North America and Europe contain heat pumps: we call them "refrigerators". Products sold as heat pumps are refrigerators configured to cool the air or ground outside a building by transferring heat into the building, along with any heat generated by the device.
I'm not sure they're controversial here. They likely need some modification to work with our housing stock and the government need to stop with the petty rules that exclude so many homes.. but all of this is solvable.
