Is plainly not true in my experience, I was thrown out of fosstodon with no chance to appeal, getting three strikes on one weekend that I was not online, had no chances to speak with people, no warnings. The only thing was the moderators calling me a "difficult person".
Weirdly enough I've been just as active if not more now on two other instances and haven't had any warnings really..
@sotolf I think you might be misremembering some details. During the ~17 months you were on Fosstodon you were reported 5 times for personal attacks. The second to last report was filed against you on the 14th of April 2022. It resulted in the removal of a couple posts and a warning. The last report was filed on the 17th, which resulted in a temporary suspension of less than 24 hours. The current status of the account is "Deleted", which means you did it yourself, not us.
@lo__ You're asking for the removal of one of our moderation staff based on that moderators interactions with you and others on Reddit. Your descriptions of that behavior seems more than a little hyperbolic, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much "meeting half way" in your demands of us.
Every action taken by our moderation staff is auditable, and they can all be reversed with the exception of post deletions. He's done that 23 times during his time
@lo__ as a member of our moderation staff, 22 of those removals being for non-Fosstodon accounts. The last time he removed a post for ANY reason was in February of 2024. That account had also had moderation actions taken against it by 4 other members of our staff.
Moderation actions that aren't of a cut and dry nature are subject for discussion by the team. No one is running rampant across the instance censoring content or people.
@lo__ To be quite frank, his opinions on CNN and Foxnews aren't particularly relevant. We have a code of conduct, and his job as a moderator is to determine if a post follows that code of conduct. It's obvious you can agree with the spirit of a post and still know it violates the instance rules. I've seen no indications that Carrotcypher is doing anything other than what we've asked him to do.
