On March 30, he uploaded a video where he shared about how he convinced the government to allocate hundreds of millions of shekels to pave a new road called "the fabric of life road" for the Palestinians. The truth is, the plan to pave the road cynically called the "Sovereignty Road" (credit for the creative name idea goes to Naftali Bennett) has been gathering dust in a drawer for about twenty years. No government has dared to implement it due to the potential political consequences it might bring. The planned road is supposed to connect Al Za'ayem and Al Eizariya, but its real purpose is to turn the current access road to the settlement, which Palestinians also use, to a road for Israelis only. This would facilitate the expansion of the settlement of Ma'ale Adumim further towards the west and will push Palestinians even deeper into the already packed Al Eizariya - Abu Dis enclave.
At the same time, over the past decade, a ring of illegal outposts has been built around the settlement of Ma'ale Adumim, all aimed at expelling the Bedouin communities living in the surrounding areas of the settlement. Some of these new outposts are being constructed within the massive jurisdiction of Ma'ale Adumim, which spans over about 46,500 dunams (the largest jurisdiction of any settlement in the West Bank), while others are located within the jurisdiction of the settlement of Kfar Adumim. Together with the "Sovereignty road" the goal is clear: to ethnically cleanse the entire area between Abu Dis and the Dead Sea from Palestinians.
About a month and a half ago, we reported on a new shepherds' outpost that was established above the #Bedouin community of Al Hathroura, within lands that were expropriated in the 1970s for the settlement of Ma'ale Adumim (link to the post in the comments). Even earlier, in mid-2024, another shepherds' outpost - Havat Adumim - was established between Ma'ale Adumim and the Mishor Adumim industrial zone, also within the settlement's jurisdiction. This outpost was established above the Bedouin community of Wadi Al A’waj, and its purpose is clear: to block the grazing areas south of The settlement of Ma'ale Adumim and to promote the expulsion of this community from the area.
This outpost is a project of the Beit Moreshet association which is basically the same body behind the Garin Torani (a group of extreme nationalist religious Zionist individuals and families who settle in communities with low religious population) in Ma'ale Adumim. As one might expect, Beit Moreshet receives millions of shekels every year from public sources. This money funds not only "educational" activities but also the establishment of an illegal outpost - an outpost that would be difficult to imagine coming into existence without the support of the municipality of the settlement of Ma'ale Adumim.

On Friday, thousands of NFTs that had once sold collectively for millions of dollars vanished from the internet and were replaced with the phrase “This content has been restricted. Using Cloudflare’s basic service in this manner is a violation of the Terms of Service.” The pictures eventually returned but their brief loss, as a result of one of the services that served the NFTs being migrated to a free account, is a reminder of the ephemeral nature of digital goods as well as the craze for crypto-backed pictures that dominated the internet for a few years.
The pictures were part of a CloneX RTFKT (pronounced “artifact”) collection, a Nike-backed NFT project done in collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The pictures linked to a URL on Cloudflare’s site that explained a bit more about what was going on. “If you are on a Free, Pro, or Business Plan and your application appears to be serving videos or a disproportionate amount of large files without using the appropriate paid service as described below, Cloudflare may redirect your content or take other actions to protect quality of service,” it said.
One of the original pitches of NFTs is that they would live forever on the internet. The idea is that they were a digital asset, as good as a real world asset like gold or silver, and could never be destroyed or erased. The flicking out of some 19,000 NFTs and the erasure of tens of millions of dollars in Etherium called that into question.
NFTs are non-fungible tokens, which use the blockchain to “prove” the ownership of digital assets. In the speculative frenzy that followed, a lot of people got rich minting grotesque pictures and selling them online. The trend peaked around the start of 2022 when Jimmy Fallon and Paris Hilton talked about the then-popular Bored Ape Yacht Club on the Tonight Show.
Nike bought RTFKT in 2021 when corporations and investors thought NFTs would be the next big thing. No one knows what Nike paid for the company, but earlier that year Andreeseen Horowitz had valued RTFKT at $33 million and RTFKT used that number to raise $8 million in capital.
Three years later, Nike decided to pull the plug and sunset the project. At the time, Samuel Cardillo was RTFKT’s CTO and the man in charge of keeping things running. At its height, Cardillo had a team of 12 people helping him run the project. Now it’s just him. He stayed on as a consultant after Nike said it wouldn’t support the project anymore.
He’s currently in the process of migrating Nike’s NFTs off of a DigitalOcean cloud server and onto AWS. “I, personally, wanted to decentralize the assets instead of moving them just to yet another centralized hosting which would be under someone else’s will,” he said.
But Nike gets the final say, even now.
He was using Cloudflare as a third-party service to secure inbound and outbound connections from the user to DigitalOcean. The plan was and is to use this as a bridge while he decentralized the pictures on ArWeave—a blockchain for data storage.
According to Cardillo, the images vanished because Cloudflare moved RTFKT onto a free plan earlier than he expected. “The reason we're moving to the free plan is that, RTFKT is sunset, there are no plans to do any drops or anything like that so having a paid plan with Cloudflare makes absolutely no sense anymore,” he told 404 Media.
Cardillo posted about the issues on RTFKT’s Discord and fielded questions on X while he got the pictures back online. “I understand the panic,” he said. “It’s my duty to ensure that those people can be reassured, it’s part of my responsibility being in charge of all of this.”
Around the same time that the NFTs vanished, some of the people left holding the RTFKT bag filed a lawsuit against Nike. An Australian resident filed the class action lawsuit in Brooklyn, New York federal court. It said that the shoe company ending support for the NFT company led to significant losses for people who had bought them.
Cardillo declined to comment on the lawsuit, but said he still believed in the technology underlying NFTs. “I hope people see the point of this technology itself and stop using it to fuel the casino that crypto became,” he said.

We were traveling out of Barcelona when the #SpainBlackout hit. We were actually waiting in line for the train. Power went out and cell service cut around noon. I was able to get wifi from a nearby hotel (I hope room 123 doesn't mind). I found an outage map for the city, but the map was entirely down. I overheard someone say it was national and found an article about that, but there really wasn't any info yet.
After waiting for a while with no info, the train station was evacuated. My partner found a route by bus. So we took our kids and bags and started walking. Finding the right stop was challenging. #OrganicMaps doesn't seem to have bus lines and #CityMapper doesn't do great offline. The kids don't sleep well when traveling, so this was all compounded by several days of sleep deprivation.
Navigatng was difficult. We managed to find a hotel with a generator who let us use their wifi to update our maps.
So we traveled across the city. Trafic lights seemed to be the only things with power, though there were places those didn't work. Metro and tram were down. There seemed to be exra buses, all of them packed. The roads were packed with cars.
It wasn't posible to get a regional bus ticket since the ticket machines were all down. The bus we were looking for didn't seem to actually exist and none of the bus drivers could answer questions. My spanish is not great and I didn't focus a lot on improving it since I'm already overwhelmed with learning dutch.
After not being able to find the bus for a while, we were almost going to head back to the hotel and ask for a room. Then the power came back on. We got a regional bus ticket. After waiting for another hour or so, the bus never came. We went back to the hotel and were able to get a room.
Wifi at the hotel didn't work after power came back, cell service was still down. Duo is mad at me.
I have been off my disaster prep game for a bit, and was especially off while traveling. I have some notes... 1. Always have cash. 2. Download maps in advance (you can do this for google maps also, but you can't route without internet). 3. Download translation languages in advance. 4. Always have extra water and snacks. 5. Pack light so you don't have to haul massive amounts of luggage everywhere. 6. Keep battery packs topped off, where possible.
Traveling with kids is hard under normal conditions. It's funny, I'm actually more calm in a crisis. Our kids did really well despite walking for hours around Barcelona (or perhaps because of it).
It's interesting how the city prioritized cars by prioritizing power to traffic lights, but that just clogged everything with cars and made bus travel harder. The metro is generally better, imho, in Barcelona because it doesn't have the car problem. Barcelona appears to be deeply unprepared for actual emergencies. A lot of cities are.
This is a good reminder that solar power and distributed grids are really important. Dedicated power to mass transit like trains and metro would help evacuate the city. Better bike infrastructure makes it easier to get around when cars clog the streets. I can see how much work is being done in this area, but there's a lot of room to improve. Cars are basically the worst solution for several reasons, including that they caused the problem in the first place.
I hope Europe learns from this and continues to move towards greater resiliency. #ClimateChange is going to make things like this happen more often, and centralization makes small disasters larger and makes disaster response slower. Deploying a bunch of cops is not a solution to anything.

Selon le Berliner Morgenpost, la police berlinoise s’apprêterait à interdire une nouvelle fois les drapeaux russes et soviétiques lors des événements commémoratifs de la victoire sur l'Allemagne nazie, les 8 et 9 mai.
La police berlinoise s’apprêterait à bannir de nouveau les drapeaux russes et soviétiques lors des célébrations du 80e anniversaire de la capitulation allemande de 1945, les 8 et 9 mai prochain, a rapporté ce 25 avril le Berliner Morgenpost. Selon ce quotidien de la capitale allemande, la police reprendrait ainsi le décret de 2024.
En plus du drapeau tricolore russe « les drapeaux de l’ex-URSS, de la Biélorussie et de la république russe de Tchétchénie étaient également interdits » a rappelé la publication allemande. Le port – même partiel – d’uniformes –, d’insignes militaires, du ruban de Saint-Georges ou encore l’affichage «proéminent» des lettres « V » et « Z » étaient également proscrits en 2024.
Une interdiction similaire avait, déjà, été entreprise en 2023. « L’objectif était et est de prévenir la violence et les activités de propagande et de publicité qui y sont associées dans l’espace public » a justifié la police, citée par le Berliner Morgenpost. Les drapeaux – ainsi que les « images du chef de l’État » et les « chants militaires » - ukrainiens, initialement proscrits, avaient finalement été autorisés par le tribunal administratif de Berlin.

I wonder. It seems odd though given the amount of latex I remember being around while growing up, and I would think it's my cohort where latex allergies started being noticed so much and drove the move to other materials, especially in healthcare.
