Public Enemy’s Chuck D: ‘Bob Vylan ain’t got no tanks... You can’t really kill nobody with a guitar or a microphone’

the-independent.com/arts-enter…

in reply to 🌲🧿 "Max"t💽d🏵️n 🔎🍄

“When people say death to a country, they’re not saying death to a people,” Chuck D says, “they’re saying death to imperialism, death to colonialism. Bob Vylan ain’t got no tanks. They’re using words to say something must end. You can’t really kill nobody with a guitar or a microphone, but you could kill somebody with a drone and a f***ing tank. We have to be able to fight for peace and love by any means necessary.”

Took the Botanist ending. Your review reflects my thoughts on it. Though I give them a pass for the localization and subtitle issues considering English is not the team's first language.

You do not need a REAL ID driver license or identification card to do any of the following:

Drive
Vote
Apply for or receive federal benefits (e.g., Veterans Affairs, Social Security Administration, etc.)
Enter a federal facility that does not require an ID (e.g., a post office)
Access a hospital or receive life-saving services
Participate in law enforcement proceedings or investigations (e.g., serve on a federal jury, testify in federal court, etc.)

in reply to Sir Mike44 JRnotBS ☠🦈🦛🐊🇺🇸

A REAL ID, however, might be helpful for anyone who frequently:

Boards a commercial airplane
Visits nuclear sites
Visits military bases
Visits federal courthouses, federal prisons or other federal facilities
An individual without a REAL ID or U.S. passport may still be able to board flights or make visits to the facilities mentioned above, but they may have to provide additional documentation with their traditional license or ID.

Back in February, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi told Fox News that Jeffrey Epstein's "client list" was sitting on her desk. Now, a Justice Department and FBI review says there was no "client list" or evidence of blackmail, and that the disgraced financier died by suicide while in custody in Manhattan. Here's more from @CBSNews.

Ted Cruz ensured Trump spending bill slashed weather forecasting funding | Texas floods 2025 | The Guardian

Ted Cruz has had quite a week. On Tuesday, the Texas senator ensured the Republican spending bill slashed funding for weather forecasting, only to then go on vacation to Greece while his state was hit by deadly flooding, a disaster critics say was worsened by cuts to forecasting. Cruz, who infamously fled Texas for Cancun when a crippling winter storm ravaged his…

Scratch the surface of any anti-vaxx, anti-masking or anti-lockdown organisation, and you’ll find weird cults of christians, climate change deniers, neo-nazis and eugenics buffs thinking they’re hippies. Keep digging and you’ll find Koch brothers, fossil fuel lobby and eventually Peter Thiel. But most of all you’ll find anti-liberalism, which is the irony of it all. It’s like an Ouroboros chasing it’s tail.

Elon Musk just unveiled a mind blowing photo of SpaceX’s latest creation: the “Deep Thrust” is a towering, shaft-like marvel that's penetrating far beyond the boundaries of conventional aerospace engineering.

But critics have expressed some serious performance doubts - pointing out that Musk's most recent projects have a strong tendency to end in premature expiration.

To anyone still wondering if New York Times can disgrace itself even more than it already has in recent years, Dan Froomkin has an answer:

"The sad fact is that there is nothing terribly out of character about the New York Times’s decision to publish a deceptive hit piece about New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, based on hacked data supplied by a noted eugenicist to whom they granted anonymity."

"But its coverage of anything remotely political is poisoned by its obsession to prove its neutrality by taking cheap shots at the left, no matter the cost to its obligation to accuracy and fairness."

Froomkin is absolutely right. This ugly hit piece which raises major ethical questions about how NYT does journalism is exactly what I'd have expected from NYT — and why I read it only when other sources I respect cite some of its few worthwhile reports.

"When Times columnist Jamelle Bouie had the temerity to post 'i think you should tell readers if your source is a nazi,' he was apparently forced to delete it for violating the paper's social media guidelines. Think about that for a moment. The Times will protect the anonymity of a white supremacist, but will silence their own Black columnist for accurately identifying him."

"[The Zohran Mamdani story] came to the Times due to a widespread hack into Columbia’s databases, transmitted to the paper through an intermediary who was given anonymity by the paper. That source turns out to be Jordan Lasker, who – as the Guardian has reported – is a well-known and much criticized ''eugenicist', AKA white supremacist."
