I think one of the reasons I tend to enjoy "retro-styled" games (eg. pixel art and possibly chiptune music) isn't really about nostalgia at all - there were no games like Eastward, Animal Well, Kingdom: Two Crowns, Stardew Valley or even Undertale when I was a kid with an Amiga. Playing them feels nothing like what playing games felt like when I was a kid with an Amiga either.

Rather, I think it's because pixel art and that sort of gameplay feels much more like a piece of artistic craftsmanship someone cared about. I get the same feeling from hand-drawn vector art (ranging from the simplistic-looking art in eg. Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included to the "cartoon you can play" style of eg. Spiritfarer). I only very rarely get this feeling out of modern 3D-rendered game art - for lack of a better term, that often feels a lot more "alienated", even when it's technically much better.

(Possibly I'm just better at judging pixel art than 3D rendering, which would be because I'm old. 😀 )

One 3-d rendered game that stands out for me is The Long Dark. Its art style borders on cartoony: it's 3-d, but highly stylized and not hyperrealistic. This video gives a sense of it. It's one of the few games I've played as an adult where I felt like I had an experience. I remember and still think about it from time to time.

Hyperrealistic 3-d game art tends to trigger unpleasant feelings in me. Usually either it's the uncanny valley, where everything feels creepy, or it's one I can't easily describe where I feel like I'm smelling cellophane the whole time (everything's too shiny) and just want to leave before I'm sick from it. It's disorienting, almost dizzying, and I can't suspend disbelief enough to enjoy the game a lot of the time (while also acknowledging some of these games are visually very impressive). I've had this reaction to modern digital television shows too. I'll admit that maybe I'm unusual, but anyway I have a kind of "alienated" response to this kind of game art too.

IMO FSF's role is to be a steward and promoter of Free Software values and definition. For example, by giving well argumented opinions on which licenses satisfy the Free Software Definition, but also which software and hardware best fulfills the spirit of Free Software and which doesn't.

I agree it does a poor job at that, but that doesn't mean it should be doing something else.

The nation state system, Western conceptions of property rights, and the theater we call "rule of law" are all reaching their logical ends.

This might sound unhinged to many; after all, imagination around other systems, other ways of being, and other types of civilizations, other ways of doing trade and sustaining life, those are all things we are taught not to think about or take seriously, and communities who practice alternatives are have always been ignored when possible, or met with violence.

Lors de la deuxième session du sommet des BRICS, le ministre russe des Affaires étrangères a affirmé que la grande majorité des pays souhaitaient mettre en œuvre des mécanismes de développement indépendants de l’Occident.

Les pays BRICS sont engagés dans une transformation sans précédent, s'efforçant de bâtir une architecture économique plus stable, fondée sur les principes de transparence et de non-discrimination, garantissant l'égalité d'accès aux opportunités pour tous.

« Il est inacceptable de continuer à utiliser le Fonds monétaire mondial ( #FMI) et la Banque mondiale pour perpétuer des pratiques néocoloniales », a déclaré M. #Lavrov, remettant en question la présence de situations similaires au sein de l'Organisation mondiale du commerce ( #OMC) et appelant à une réforme des institutions de #BrettonWoods.

Il s'est dit convaincu que les institutions émergentes reflètent le véritable équilibre des pouvoirs dans l'économie mondiale. Lors des délibérations du deuxième jour du sommet, la Russie a dénoncé le fait que les pays à faible revenu et à revenu intermédiaire dépensent davantage pour le remboursement de leur dette extérieure que pour leur propre développement, et a averti que cette situation échappait à tout contrôle, même dans certains pays développés.

Il a dénoncé le fait que l’ #Occident subordonne l’octroi de son aide financière à des considérations politiques. À titre d’exemple, il a cité l’octroi de fonds d’« aide militaire » équivalant à 500 % du PIB de l’Ukraine, alors que de nombreux pays africains n’ont pas pu accéder aux recettes nécessaires pour soutenir leurs prévisions de développement.

Contrairement à ces pratiques, il propose que la nouvelle Banque de développement des BRICS se distingue par son innovation et s'attache à tirer parti des efforts des pays membres du groupe pour renforcer leurs économies et améliorer leur bien-être.

Les BRICS contribuent à 48,5 % de la population mondiale, représentent 39 % du PIB, 24 % du commerce extérieur total, 43,6 % de la production de pétrole et des réserves mondiales, et 78,2 % du charbon. Ils excellent également dans la création de technologies alternatives, l'utilisation des nouvelles technologies et la transition numérique.
