Quick note about android blocking sideloading (as Techlore pointed out in their recent video): if you’re running a custom rom that doesn’t use google play services system-wide, you’ll be safe from this and still be able to download any apps you want from any store (grapheneOS users can sleep well tonight).

Software in FreeBSD/GhostBSD isn't ported from Linux. It is built from source just like on Linux. In fact, if you use the FreeBSD ports tree, you will get the latest software available. There is also a Linux emulation layer on FreeBSD for any software that you can't find.
The downside to FreeBSD is that it doesn't have the same level of hardware support as Linux. If I could get FreeBSD to run on a laptop as well as Linux, I would drop Linux in a heartbeat.

you can use AndFLDigi to transmit digital messages over analog radio (and receive/decode), so if you had a way to "encrypt" and "decrypt" text on the phone, ephemerally, you could send ASCII messages that looked like garbage. I reckon next to *no* LEO would know what is going on. Even if they find the radios and the frequency, if the secret (probably PSK) is kept secure and rotated frequently enough, at least once a day, say, it seems that it would be extremely effective.
This is only relevant if you don't care if someone can find out where you're transmitting from; that is, you only care that they don't know *what* you're transmitting.
I don't know, offhand, what cipher/encryption technique would be useful. I do figure that only a handful of people should have the PSK and radios in general.
probably some "SPA" in an html on the phone would be the best bet. maybe distribute that securely, like login to "https://1.2.3.4/_priv/app.html" and "save-as", each day.
@bquirky OTP are great, i have private generators for them, the issue with them is everyone needs the pad, and if a pad gets burned, all pads get burned. You have to distribute them and keep the pads secure. I replied to my own post with a possible way to distribute the PSK

@ThatCrazyDude @bquirky yes, that's just the modem part, same as AndFLmsg (i said the wrong name before); it's multi steps for bob and alice to exchange a message:
alice encodes using some app on the phone that doesn't store the text(s), alice uses a text-to-audio software modem to convert to 2.5khz audio (or whatever) and keys the radio to transmit the audio.
bob uses a software modem app to listen to the radio audio, which gives bob text, which bob uses "some app" to decode.
@ThatCrazyDude @bquirky the "some app" is the thing with the pre-shared key; that's the novel part in my scheme. And it's only novel in that i've never heard of anyone using this method to shroud messages over analog radio this century
@bquirky well, you can do that pretty easily by pimping output from 'openssl' command to minimodem ( whence.com/minimodem/) to send and from minimodem to openssl to receive.
@ThatCrazyDude @bquirky right, nothing i am saying is novel, i'm putting the idea of the entire system into the ether so people know that there is an incorruptible way to do radio coms in the open. you can use those $30 pairs of FRS radios from any big box store to operate with ephemeral, secure messages.
