#ALT4you "The Ephebians believed that every man should have the vote (provided that he wasn't poor, foreign nor disqualified by reason of being mad, frivolous, or a woman). Every five years someone was elected to be Tyrant, provided he could prove that he was honest, intelligent, sensible and trustworthy. Immediately after he was elected, of course, it was obvious to everyone that he was a criminal madman and totally out of touch with the view of the ordinary philosopher in the street looking for a towel. And then five years later they elected another one just like him, and really it was amazing how intelligent people kept on making the same mistakes." Terry Pratchett, Small Gods

Lety Does Reacting to “One Piece” Episodes 1135 & 1136

And we're back with the anime! Took a short break to read some manga instead, skipped a few episodes, and now here we are! And as I suspected, this picks up with how Kuma's experienced the past two years of the Great Pirate Era. Unlike what I suspected, no Enel content. Wah.

Lety Does Recapping (Half of) “One Piece” Volume 108

Stopped my One Piece reactions a little whiles ago cause the anime got too hard to watch, so we're just gonna skip ahead a few episodes and read the manga instead! And oh boy, I thought Oda loved using Sanji as a punching bag, but curly brows' got nothing on Bartholomew Kuma.

Hihi! Lety here, auto-commenting from my main account (which doesn't have a 🔕 icon)!

This is how my PeerTube videos look on other Fediverse platforms!

Remotely interact with this video using an account on an ActivityPub-powered platform like Mastodon Social! Just click the “Add comment...” box under any PeerTube video and enter your Fedi handle in the pop-up. That’ll direct you to the federated post for that video on whatever platform you use.

Or, if you’re already logged in on Mastodon or wherever you're seeing this message, just look at the post I’m responding to!

Replies and favorites on that post show up as comments and likes on PeerTube, and following the account that posted it subscribes you to my videos.

Heads up, though! While some platforms might allow you to respond with custom emojis, gifs, images, polls, and reactions, most of that fancy stuff won’t show up correctly on PeerTube. The same goes for any edits you might want to make to your response unless you delete & re-draft.

If you already know all this or are tired of seeing this wall of text, you can hide these explanation posts by going to your account preferences and creating a new filter with the title and keyword “#LetyDoesPeerTubeExplainer” and all context boxes checked.

Thanks so much for watching! ⚡⚡⚡

"Denmark's involuntary birth control program in Greenland involved the forced placement of intrauterine devices (IUDs) in thousands of Inuit women and girls, often without their consent, during the 1960s and 70s. This campaign aimed to control the population and has been described as a violation of human rights, leading to ongoing investigations and calls for compensation from the victims."

Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Palestine, has denounced it bluntly: “Israel is the second largest per capita recipient of initial EU funding through the European Innovation Council. European institutions will have to answer for the innovations that have facilitated Israel’s assault on Gaza. This program must be stopped immediately” (X, 28 August 2025).

@phaedral Yeah, it was the week we did Frogs (1972), but there was a 1992 movie also called Frogs which was technically a sequel but not labeled as such, and was considerably more popular, so it was easy to mix up the two. So during the week leading up to the event, @Taweret and others kept reminding people not to do a #WrongFrogs by watching the 1992 version by mistake.

After we finished watching the 1972 Frogs, a few of us randomly decided we wanted to watch the 1992 Frogs as a double feature. So we did.

Mumia Abu-Jamal’s Eyesight Endangered Due to Medical Negligence

Imprisoned for more than 43 years in the United States, Mumia Abu Jamal suffers from irreversible vision loss that can lead to permanent blindness. His eyesight is threatened by two correctable conditions. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and his contracted health care provider, Wellpath, allowed his eyesight to deteriorate to the point of rendering him functionally blind. In particular, his treatments for his cataract and recently diagnosed diabetic retinopathy were delayed for several months. His supporters encourage people to contact the prison to demand that he receive appropriate treatment (see here).
