Even when they invented, though, they were often gatekept out of receiving credit for innovation. 2/
Technology doesn't care about skin color unless its inventor makes it so. Original ideas don't appear only in the minds of those possessed of one skin color. Invention doesn't respect gender, either. Of course famously the real discoverer of DNA was a woman.
But racism and misogyny like to twist history in every conceivable fashion to mis-educate future generations. It's a disease that replicates.
