you know, sometimes its worth a shot to try to reach out to someone. sometimes the problem is on the DNS end, unbeknown to the admin. a few months ago i couldnt read a @igd_news article bc their DNS was blocking my VPN IP and when I pointed it out to them, to got the issue fixed. plus like... apt can literally be setup to run via tor. very silly of them to blanket block IPAs like that.

in redirecting all output of a command, standard output and standard error, it seems the correct syntax is:
some_script.sh > /dev/null 2>&1
except one website I am reading put >& and then later put &> and so I tried and it seems both work exactly the same... am i wrong that they are both working? if i am not wrong, how do they both work? I feel like &> would background "some_script.sh" while its standard output is going to bitbucket, and then... i don't even know.

yeah, i feel like i should move full-time to bash at some point. it’s just not worth it if you want to do any portable scripting. i used fish for years but all it did was teach me awful, awful habits. zsh is much better but any time i go to write a script, i want to do it in bash… and while it largely confirms to standards, afaik your initial question, both forms are identical in zsh. so there’s little shit you have to check on every time. it’s rough.

désolé mais ce que tu dis est absolument débile, j'ai horreur de ce genre de rapport à la musique : à peu près toutes les musiques que j'écoute encore aujourd'hui et que j'écouterai sûrement toute ma vie, ce sont des musiques avec lesquelles j'ai eu du mal au début (en particulier le reggae tiens!). Le goût ça se forme, les jugements c'est jamais définitifs, surtout dans un domaine aussi subjectif. Là où j'ai encore du mal c'est le classique, je bloque, mais je désespère pas. Maintenant avant que tu brodes là dessus, je parle bien de musique, non je parle pas de haïr l'autre ou de suspendre les libertés publiques, ça je m'y habituerai pas et c'est justement pour ça que ce que tu écris me choque profondément.

I have Linux Mint installed on my work PC. As I work with IT I am sometimes tasked with doing stuff like restoring Iphones and such, which is normally done through Itunes. But there's no Linux support for Itunes, and I haven't been able to install it through Wine. I also can't use a VM as my PC isn't powerful enough for it. I'm hoping there's a solution for this, as I will have to re-install Windows if I can't get it to work on Linux, and I really want to avoid that.
Wine can't properly access USB devices, so even if you got iTunes installed, it wouldn't work.
I'm sceptical that a VM is out of the question, one should run on almost anything, though not necessarily perform well. I would give it an attempt, if you didn't already.
Still, it might be simplest to set up a windows install with itunes on a usb, or second partition, and boot into windows only when you need to.
One would think, but so you haven't actually done it, right? Because I might be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure I tried to install Windows onto a USB drive one time, but I couldn't get the installer to show the USB drive.

fortunately updates to the packages in said flavor are rare enough that I can probably ignore this for 3 months and see if it solves itself.

I had considered reaching out, it's just a couple guys running that project, and tbh they should know that blocking data center IPs is a bad call since their (relatively) light distro with compositing disabled is a great choice for running on headless desktop VMs with no GPU.
the main reason I defaulted to 'wait and see' is mostly just, I'm tired and my task list is 20 miles long 😩
