Quotes

  • Otto Kuusinen: As long as the working class wages only an economic struggle, the bourgeoisie does not see in that any great danger for itself; but when the working class organises politically, i.e., creates a political party which expresses its will as a class, the bourgeoisie begins seriously to fear for its rule. That is why reaction deals its main blows against the political party of the working class. At the same time, trying to undermine the party from within, capitalist propaganda endeavours to persuade the workers that they can do without their own party. One of the manifestations of bourgeois influence on the working class is the anarchist and anarcho-syndicalist denial of the leading role of a political party.

LILYGO T-LoRa Pager is an ESP32-powered communications device with LoRa, NFC, and GPS

Pagers may have largely gone out of fashion in the age of the smartphone, but the T-LoRa Pager from LILYGO puts a modern spin on the class communications device. It’s a portable device with a 2.33 inch widescreen display, a thumb keyboard for tapping out messages, and support for LoRa, NFC, and GPS (GNSS), theoretically allowing you to communicate without relying on cellular networks.

My new normal?
Bed around 9pm-10pm.
Asleep around 9:15pm - 10:15pm.
Awake around 2am.
Last night I drank some bed time tea infused with melatonin. Took about 45 minutes for the effects to really kick in.
Sleep tracker showed I had about 48% of my sleep was "deep sleep" which is the highest it's been in a long time.
But I'm wide awake at 2AM in the morning.
Fuck.
And if this morning is anything like this past week or so I'll probably go back to sleep around 8-9am this morning where I'll sleep for another 3 hours.

yeah - your pattern def. sounds like something different. I hope you manage to figure it out - i had some bouts with sleep issues a long time ago, and took meds for a while, but mine was mostly anxiety driven when I was in college/early career, and it improved on its own as I got older and settled in.
in reply to N3VEM

I am wondering if it's not anxiety related because definitely the older I'm getting the more anxiety I'm developing. Didn't used to be claustrophobic and now I'm getting so worse. Used to not be afraid of heights (just falling) and now I can't even get 3 or 4 rungs up a ladder without freaking out. Problem is I have no idea how to get any of that tested or diagnosed.

BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD pays your doctor a $40,000 bonus for fully vaccinating 100 patients under the age of 2. If your doctor manages to fully vaccinate 200 patients, that bonus jumps to $80,000.

BUT HERE'S THE CATCH: Under Blue Cross Blue Shield's rules, pediatricians lose the whole bonus unless at least 63% of patients are fully vaccinated, and that includes the flu vaccine. So it's not just $400 on your child's head - it could be the whole bonus. To your doctor, your decision to vaccinate your child might be worth $40,000, or much more, depending on the size of his or her practice.

It's not about your children's health...IT IS ABOUT THE DOCTORS' WEALTH!

An open source project the size of Lemmy needs constant work to manage the project, implement new features and fix bugs. Dessalines and I work full-time on these tasks and more. As there is no advertising or tracking, all of our work is funded through donations. Unfortunately the amount of donations has decreased to only 2000€ per month. This leaves only 1000€ per developer, which is not enough to pay my bills. With the current level of donations I will be forced to find another job, and drastically reduce my contributions to Lemmy. To avoid this outcome and keep Lemmy growing, I ask you to please make a recurring donation:

Liberapay | Ko-fi | Patreon | OpenCollective | Crypto

If you want more information before donating, consider the comparison with Reddit. It began as startup funded by rich investors. The site is managed by corporate executives who over time have become more and more disconnected from normal users. Their main goal is to make investors happy and to make a profit. This leads to user-hostile decisions like firing the employee responsible for AMAs, blocking third-party apps and more. As Reddit is a single website under a single authority, it means all users need to follow the same rules, including ridiculous ones like censoring the name "Luigi".

Lemmy represents a new type of social media which is the complete opposite of Reddit. It is split across many different websites, each with its own rules, and managed by normal people who actually care about the users. There is no company and no profit motive. Much of the work is carried out by volunteer admins, mods and posters, who contribute out of enthusiasm and not for money. For users this is great as there is no advertising nor tracking, and no chance of takeover by a billionaire. Additionally there are no builtin political or ideological restrictions. You can use the software for any purpose you like, add your own restrictions or scrutinize its inner workings. Lemmy truly belongs to everyone.

Dessalines and I work fulltime on Lemmy to keep up with all the feature requests, bug reports and development work. Even so there is barely enough time in the day, and no time for a second job. Previously I sometimes had to rely on my personal savings to keep developing Lemmy for you, but that can't go on forever. We partly rely on NLnet for funding, but they only pay for development of new features, and not for mandatory maintenance work. The only available option are user donations. To keep it viable donations need to reach a minimum of 5000€ per month, resulting in a modest salary of 2500€ per developer. If that goal is reached Dessalines and I can stop worrying about money, and fully focus on improving the software for the benefit of all users and instances. Please use the link below to see current donation stats and make your contribution! We especially rely on recurring donations to secure the long-term development and make Lemmy the best it can be.

Donate

Just saw this by chance: Donations and Patrons for Lemmy development surged massively on Liberapay in the last weeks!

Don't know what the exact cause was/is for this big surge - but I am glad to see it. No matter what personal problems people may have with the main devs, they are doing great work on the platform.

Also of interest, since this is a good place to plug things, other threadiverse things:

And I couldn't find a way to donate to mbin, in lieu of that:

  • Muammar Gaddafi: We will not surrender. We will defeat them by any means. We are ready for the fight, whether it will be a short or a long one. We will be victorious in the end. This assault is by a bunch of fascists who will end up in the dustbin of history.

Anyone who possessed dollars or sterling was king in Germany. A few American dollars would allow a man to live like a millionaire. Foreigners swarmed into the country, buying up family treasures, estates, jewelry and art works at unbelievable low prices.
  • Lionel Robbins: It was the most colossal thing of its kind in history: and next probably to the Great War itself, it must bear responsibility for many of the political and economic difficulties of our generation. It destroyed the wealth of the more solid elements of German society: and left behind a moral and economic disequilibrium, a breeding ground for the disasters which have followed. Ho Chi Minh: It is well known that the black race is the most oppressed and most exploited of the human family. It is well known that the spread of capitalism and the discovery of the New World had as an immediate result the rebirth of slavery which was, for centuries, a scourge for the Negroes and a bitter disgrace for mankind. What everyone does not perhaps know, is that after sixty-five years of so-called emancipation, American Negroes still endure atrocious moral and material sufferings, of which the most cruel and horrible is the custom of lynching. wordsmith.social/protestation/…
