Lemmy needs AI. [SATIRE]

Lemmy needs AI features integrated, this would help increase the efficiency of poster and commenter workflows, allowing for maximal upvotes per minute, and as a consequence it increases engagement across all communities. The direct increase in output of posters when they enhance their workflow with LLMs is staggering, and comments per minute for each post go through the roof. This allows for discussions to be longer, and LLMs can be deployed on the site in such a way as to write comments that leave the reader desperate to see what the next reply is, even further boosting how many hours people spend on each post.

Lemmy not integrating AI workflows is denying a choice that everyone should be making, AI will replace posters that don’t keep up, so learning AI workflows is now essential for posters and commenters. AI will be completely different tomorrow, the workflows are going to be completely different in a months time, and it will produce even MORE text, and even MORE images. You hear me, you should learn AI right now, otherwise the posters and commenters who use AI will overtake you in terms of upvotes, and then, well you all know how important upvotes are.

I propose that accounts have a mode that can be turned on to auto generate posts overnight, and on top of that AI should try to autocomplete every sentence people type into the editor. This will maximise the benefits to Lemmys written communities. I also propose having an AI art generator built into each post, so every post can have an image, further maximising engagement. Moderators can benefit from the shift in paradigm that AI have brought about, with AI being able to create and moderate communities that no one has even asked for! Lemmy should not only allow but encourage the adoption of these tools, and everyone should be jumping on this revolution like there is no tomorrow.

I also think that the developers should integrate AI into their workflow, it could automatically add features that people don’t even know they want. I am SHOCKED that the developers are still creating Lemmy at this point, as AI can already do 110% of their job, the other day ChatGPT wrote me a sorting algorithm that it told me was totally new, and that it was able to sort any list instantly regardless of size.

My stock portfolio has nearly doubled since I went all in on AI stocks, and I expect it to double in coming months, this tells you just how amazing AI is. Since all the companies are valued this highly despite having quite a small consumer base.

You need to use proper filtering software like spamassassin and actually hire someone to implement such rule if you want to implement that.

google *does not* hire anyone for such sort of roles - for example if something is incorrect on gulag maps and wastes hours of your time (even if you do not use google maps, other people use it and think that if it's on google maps, it must be true), google has intentionally made it so you cannot contact anyone at google to get it fixed.

@Suiseiseki my email server actually gets near zero spam. i don't use spamassassin but i use spamhaus blacklist. it works better than gmail at this point and doesn't block legitimate mail.

google used to do better at filtering spam. they've been slipping lately and they are jerks about making you jump through flaming hoops like using IP6, SPF and DMARC, and even then, they still blacklist large ranges of VPS hosts just because they can

Lenin: (T)he following discovery made by the “Left Communists” will provoke nothing short of Homeric laughter. According to them, under the “Bolshevik deviation to the right” the Soviet Republic is threatened with “evolution towards state capitalism”. Thirdly, in making a bugbear of “state capitalism”, they betray their failure to understand that the Soviet state differs from the bourgeois state economically. wordsmith.social/protestation/…

Quotes

  • Otto Kuusinen: As long as the working class wages only an economic struggle, the bourgeoisie does not see in that any great danger for itself; but when the working class organises politically, i.e., creates a political party which expresses its will as a class, the bourgeoisie begins seriously to fear for its rule. That is why reaction deals its main blows against the political party of the working class. At the same time, trying to undermine the party from within, capitalist propaganda endeavours to persuade the workers that they can do without their own party. One of the manifestations of bourgeois influence on the working class is the anarchist and anarcho-syndicalist denial of the leading role of a political party.

Enver Hoxha: N. Khrushchev, slandering our Party at the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and crudely interfering with our domestic affairs, said that the Albanian leaders were against the criticism of Stalin's personality cult because the personality cult methods are allegedly thriving in our Party, that terror and injustice are allegedly reigning in Albania. We shall not stop here to reject these slanders, but the fact that their author has fallen so low as to mobilize the public opinion against our Party using such "arguments" borrowed from the most rabid enemies of socialism and communism, shows his dark aims. It is evident that by linking at the 22nd Congress his unsubstantiated attacks on the Party of Labor of Albania with his "fight against Stalin's cult and the anti-party group", N. Khrushchev aimed at showing the "analogy" between the alleged "Albanian Stalinism" and the "epoch of the Stalinist crimes" in the Soviet Union, in order to create in this way the "atmosphere" he needed at the Congress and in the world public opinion to make his slanders more credible. The Party of Labor of Albania has always taken and continues to take account of the teachings of Marxism-Leninism concerning the role of the masses, classes, party and leaders. It has always considered and continues to consider the manifestation of the personality cult as phenomenon alien to Marxism-Leninism, harmful to a communist and workers' party. wordsmith.social/protestation/…

They tend to lag behind on purpose for stability reasons, but a year out of date is pushing it.

Part of the issue they have is that one of the most popular apps for lemmy, Sync, has been abandoned by its dev. They said they have roughly 5k/month sync users, and if they update, their experience will break further. The egregious part is that app has subscription options, and it's still been 10+ months since the last update.

I left Sync for summit a couple of months ago due to the above, and boy howdy is it better. ~~Actual FOSS,~~ huge amount of options, very similar ux and flow as sync. It's a champion.

Here's hoping more people trickle off of sync to a better app and lemmy world can drop that from their issues list.

Of course a white dude who writes for The Washington Post and the New Yorker thinks racism was the SECONDARY reason for Trump’s second term.

This is an extremely offensive point of view to those being hurt by 47’s administration. The winner’s campaign slogan was “Mass Deportation” and his opponent (who had over 100 days to campaign because Biden DID step down) was a black woman.

60% of WHITE MEN voted for Trump, who made no bones about the fact that he was going to deport every person of color he could find.

95% of black women voted for Harris. In fact, the ONLY demographic that went majority Trump was WHITE people.

SOOOOOOO……. Quit falsely blaming Biden and start looking around at our fellow white guys. The next 10 you see? 6 of them are likely Nazis. @TonyStark

Some day there will be a documentary about Eurovision, showing how they heroically invented a technology that filters out booing during Israel's performance, banned pride flags from stage, beat up people shouting “free palestine”, and shut down all opposition to banning a genocidal state from participating, despite multiple nation's public broadcasters urging them to have at least a conversation about it.

I'd say this isn't like Eurovision, but sadly this is very much aligned with Europe's spirit.

In our world, violence can be so normalized, if necessary, that it's the bearer of the message that annoys us, for the insult of forcing us to have a glimpse down the ivory tower is so great, not even a human life could compare.

This is what RTVE, the Spanish public broadcasting service, and the Belgian public broadcast, due to pressure by unions, portrayed during the ESC finals:

Maybe going to the ESC and yelling isn't nice to the artist who isn't representing the state of Israel (necessarily) in any legal or ideological way.

However, every other option has been attempted. The public broadcasting services of multiple countries have attempted to start a conversation at the EBU about Israel's participation, which was always shut down the moment it started. Even the winner of last year's ESC, Nemo, said they don't see much of a reason as to why Israel is allowed to participate.

If Russia could still participate, you could bet your ass that thousands of people with Ukraine flags would protest this event and its superficially displayed peace to remind people of the reality of millions suffering from their war. Which would be the right thing, always.

To brush off these protestors as violent or annoying, when all non-disturbing ways have been tried, is unfair.

  • Democritus: Many who have not learned wisdom live wisely, and many who do the basest deeds can make most learned speeches.

  • Democritus: Neither art nor wisdom may be attained without learning.

  • Democritus: Fame and wealth without wisdom are unsafe possessions.
  • Muammar Gaddafi: We will not surrender. We will defeat them by any means. We are ready for the fight, whether it will be a short or a long one. We will be victorious in the end. This assault is by a bunch of fascists who will end up in the dustbin of history.
  • Democritus: By convention sweet is sweet, bitter is bitter, hot is hot, cold is cold, color is color; but in truth there are only atoms and the void.
  • Democritus: We know nothing accurately in reality, but (only) as it changes according to the bodily condition, and the constitution of those things that flow upon (the body) and impinge upon it.

  • Democritus: 'Tis not in strength of body nor in gold that men find happiness, but in uprightness and in fulness of understanding.
  • Democritus: He who does wrong is more unhappy than he who suffers wrong.
  • Samuel P. Huntington: The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion (to which few members of other civilizations were converted) but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.
  • Marjori Palmer: One of the most morale-damaging aspects of the inflation was the "sack of Germany" that occurred at the height of the (1923) inflation. Anyone who possessed dollars or sterling was king in Germany. A few American dollars would allow a man to live like a millionaire. Foreigners swarmed into the country, buying up family treasures, estates, jewelry and art works at unbelievable low prices.
  • Lionel Robbins: It was the most colossal thing of its kind in history: and next probably to the Great War itself, it must bear responsibility for many of the political and economic difficulties of our generation. It destroyed the wealth of the more solid elements of German society: and left behind a moral and economic disequilibrium, a breeding ground for the disasters which have followed. Hitler is the foster child of the inflation.
  • Lenin: There is no trace of utopianism in Marx, in the sense that he made up or invented a 'new' society. No, he studied the birth of the new society out of the old, and the forms of transition from the latter to the former, as a natural-historical process. He examined the actual experience of a proletarian mass movement and tried to draw practical lessons from it.
  • Che Guevara: Many will call me an adventurer - and that I am, only one of a different sort: one of those who risks his skin to prove his platitudes.
  • Democritus: The first principles of the universe are atoms and empty space; everything else is merely thought to exist.
  • Bertolt Brecht: Lenin is enshrined In the large heart of the working class.

"NEVER, EVER trust a woman with a hyphenated last name."

8+ years ago, I followed a sharp young Silicon Valley programmer on Twitter who morphed over a year as he fell in love and got married.

HE changed his last name.

But no hyphen. They decided to do a mashup of HIS AND HER last names. Equality and such.

His was something like Bashear, I don't recall, maybe her's was Sanchez.

THEY decided on Bashez.

True story.

I sometimes wonder if they're still together.
