in reply to Aaron • • •This is on my mind, because I suspect that's why I'm in trouble at work right now. I think my boss saw my abilities, and jumped to conclusions about the rest of me. Then she was terribly disappointed when she discovered her bargain purchase of her very own genius turned out to be a lemon, in her eyes. (Ew, there's an icky disabled person attached to my genius. Can I get a refund? This one goes in the dumpster!)
Sorry, lady. It's a package deal. You get the idiot with the genius, and the genius with the idiot. That's why those ableist terms don't make any fucking sense when we bother to look past fantasy to see the reality of an entire, complete, complex, multidimensional person.

in reply to Aaron • • •To any prospective boss of a neurodivergent person out there: If you can't provide what your pet neurodivergent "genius" needs for accommodations, you don't deserve the fruits of their labors, and you *will not get them*. This isn't because they will be withheld. It's because it isn't an option for them. You have to provide the one to get the other, because that's one of the raw materials that's required.
Treat us like human beings, and you will be rewarded. Don't, and...fuck, *we* will be punished along with you.
