On 9/5, the extension of my pre-trial detention and that of my other co-defendants was officially received. However, the decision had been made months earlier, on 31/10, when the anti-terrorist police instructed the investigator to attribute the maximum charges to a highly inflated indictment.
Nevertheless, I will not focus on the decision of the Athens Misdemeanor Council – what council would take responsibility for releasing a defendant of the anti-terrorism police? – as well as the proposal and argumentation of the Athens Misdemeanor Prosecutor, Sotiris Bougioukos, who even rushed a whole month before the end of the semester to prove his obedience to the anti-terrorism law by assembling and proposing an abortive report, both for me and for the rest of the co-defendants. By rehashing the words of the anti-terrorist police, he simply repeats its position, revealing his indifference and the predetermined strategy followed by the dictatorship.
But there is no demand from the anti-terrorism and state mandates. We have been confronted countless times with their immorality, inhumanity and hypocrisy. In my case, the prosecutor had the audacity to use as an argument for the extension of my pre-trial detention the fact that on 9/11, 9 days after the tragic explosion and just 5 days after I had regained consciousness, remaining exhausted, with multiple injuries to my body, head and face, I claimed the obvious: my inability to study the case file and to attend a long interrogation process. Mr. Bougioukos also read the Medical Certificate of the Annunciation as he saw fit, since he only retained my mental clarity that the clinic recognized to me, but not the fact that “she cannot speak for a long time due to generalized weakness and injuries”. Double standards are, of course, an expected tactic of the judicial mechanisms, especially in cases that they prosecute under Article 187A where the anxiety of the repressive authorities to cover up the hypocrisy, injustice and rot of their system, their fear of revealing their true face and the vision of those they persecute for a different world, solidarity and equality, lead them to their well-known unstable geometries.
While these kinds of arguments are – unfortunately – to be expected, my description as anti-social showing disdain for human life, by a representative of the apparatus who has always supported and covered up this voracious system, seems not only absurd, but also contradictory. A line that on my side the world is fair, without violence, exploitation and oppression, without prisons and borders, individualism and selfishness. I’ve been divorced with their world for years now.

I have a pretty old laptop with an AMD dGPU and I am trying to do OpenCL compute on it to make sure that device switching is handled correctly in some stuff I am testing. All the instructions I see to install amdgpu drivers is to have --no-dkms as an install flag. Doing amdgpu-install --usecase=opencl --no-dkms --opencl=legacy results in ERROR: using '--no-dkms' with '--opencl=legacy' is not supported

CPU: i7-8550u (HD 620 iGPU and this has working compute)
If I use no dkms and no legacy, I get the current clinfo result. No detected gpu.
Problem is that popos has their own thing that will conflict with dkms and every single tutorial or guide for installing amdgpu drivers uses no-dkms as an install flag.
I haven't found any documentation on this except "don't do it lol". Which is why I'm confused. How?
Edit: finding more info and discovering that people didn't have bricked systems after using dkms which leads me to assume that later versions of popos do not have the issue that people were trying to avoid.

In gewisser Weise hat er natürlich recht, aber anders als er denkt. Natürlich reden die Leute verstärkt über dieses Thema, genauso wie sie über die angeblich extremen Gefahren der Zuwanderung reden. Und warum? Weil es ihnen Politiker:innen wie Linnemann und große Teile der Presse (allen voran natürlich Springer) seit Jahren einreden. Und wenn man es immer wieder hört und nicht in der Lage ist, sich die Fakten anzuschauen, kommen natürlich solche Gefühle hoch.

Aber die Logik dahinter ist ja sehr durchsichtig: Wenn die Ausländer alle raus sollen, dann muss Herr und Frau D wieder mehr ran - dann halt auch die Rentner.

I'm on Bazzite Linux 42 and was having some trouble with my 2.4GHz wireless keyboard disconnecting, so I decided to replace it. The new one is having similar issues despite being a different brand (new: XVX, old: Royal Kludge), so I suspect the culprit may actually have been software all along. I have a 2.4GHz wireless mouse connected to the same system that is generally reliable, so I don't believe it's an issue of 2.4GHz interference. The keyboards work well when connected to my Mac, so I don't believe it's faulty hardware.
This keyboard has one feature that may be helpful in troubleshooting: it flashes an LED when it’s trying to reconnect. (The previous one had no indicator.) I can clearly see that, after the keyboard has been idle for a bit, it starts trying to reconnect again. I suspected a power management issue, but I believe I’ve disabled that. I started with a rule in /etc/udev/rules.d/:
(These rules disable power management for both keyboard and mouse, just in case.) I got the IDs with lsusb. I’m assuming the part of the ID before the colon is the vendor ID and the part after is the product ID.
That didn’t seem to help at all, so I tried disabling USB power management with rpm-ostree kargs --append-if-missing="usbcore.autosuspend=-1". That made the problem better, but now it just seems to take longer (a couple of minutes) for the keyboard to lose connectivity. Also, now when it loses connectivity, it seems even disconnecting and reconnecting the dongle doesn't always fix it.
Since posting this, I've also tried installing powertop and checking the tunables. According to lsof -t, the dongle is connected directly to the root hub (under only xHCI host controller). I noticed in powertop that those controllers were still under power management, so I disabled them. That didn't seem to help. The keyboard still lost connection.

File transfer progress bars generally aren't worth shit, I have no idea how this is still a problem. It dates back to the early 90's, and it's still not done properly. Almost everything to do with file transfer report it to be finished before it actually is, because it doesn't consider write back cache. So it's only the reading part that is finished, not the writing part. Meaning the transfer isn't actually finished. Never never never trust it is my motto. Personally I'd rather not have the dysfunctional progress bar, if I could have an actually accurate completion notification.
PS: I just switched back to KDE/Plasma after many years. Overall I'm pretty pleased, but also a bit puzzled about a lot of the simplifications. like inability to disable caps lock, and the inability to change double click speed for the mouse. So now I need a startup command for the caps lock, and I needed to edit an ini file for the mouse for such simple things, that used to be accessible through settings??? But they finally added the ability to use numpad for hotkeys, which I found out, and was what made me switch back to KDE. Now I only miss the ability to use the scroll wheel on hotkeys too. To finally have similar functionality like I had 10-15 years ago with Compiz. 😜
i bet MANY people are left with halfway stuff written on their usbs after being in a rush and removing it insecurely on linux after the transfer is “done”.
AFAIK it can actually destroy the USB if it's removed while being written.
You can use sync in terminal. But it's tricky because it sometimes returns even when the writing isn't finished. My method is to use sync multiple time, if it returns immediately 2 times it should be clear, Only then do i dismount the stick, because I don't like to dismount a device with pending operations. But when the dismount says the stick is ready to be removed, you should be clear.
