Isaiah 63
(This is about you.
The beginning of the passage is an event that has not yet occurred.
The rest is about a condition that has been since antiquity and remains to this day and will not conclude until the beginning piece has occurred.
In the middle is a proclamation of the then-coming salvation that the Christ would deliver to all Israelites--and completed doing so.)

[Part 1 of 2. Part 2 in comments.]

`Who [is] this coming from Edom? With dyed garments from Bozrah? This that is honourable in his clothing, Travelling in the abundance of his power?' -- `I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.'

2 `Wherefore [is] thy clothing red? And thy garments as treading in a wine fat?'

3 -- `A wine-press I have trodden by myself, And of the peoples there is no one with me, And I tread them in mine anger, And I trample them in my fury, Sprinkled is their strength on my garments, And all my clothing I have polluted.

4 For the day of vengeance [is] in my heart, And the year of my redeemed hath come.

>Revelation 19
>11 And I saw the heaven having been opened, and lo, a white horse, and he who is sitting upon it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness doth he judge and war,
>12 and his eyes [are] as a flame of fire, and upon his head [are] many diadems -- having a name written that no one hath known, except himself,
>13 and ***he is arrayed with a garment covered with blood,*** and his name is called, The Word of God.

5 And I look attentively, and there is none helping, And I am astonished that there is none supporting, And give salvation to me doth mine own arm. And my wrath -- it hath supported me.

6 And I tread down peoples in mine anger, And I make them drunk in my fury, And I bring down to earth their strength.

7 The kind acts of Yahweh I make mention of, The praises of Yahweh, According to all that Yahweh hath done for us, And the abundance of the goodness to the house of Israel, That He hath done for them, According to His mercies, And according to the abundance of His kind acts.

>The House of Israel. You. Your brother nations. Not non-Israelites invited in long ago--with which came punishment, having them rise to be priests and governmental leaders. Christ gathered Israelites away from them. Today those non-Israelites that were living and ruling are called jews, holding dearly to their false title, false covenant, and false entitlement, exactly as real as blacks claiming they're Egyptian. They are "those who say they are jews and are not, but do lie."
>You are of the Israelites. God kept His promise and made us many nations. And He kept true to His warning. He scattered Israelites out of the land through centuries, through the Assyrians and the Babylonians, into Europe and North Africa and eastern Asia and eventually North America, making us more numerous despite disobedience.

8 And He saith, Only My people they [are], Sons -- they lie not, and He is to them for a saviour.

9 In all their distress [He is] no adversary, And the messenger of His presence saved them, In His love and in His pity He redeemed them, And He doth lift them up, And beareth them all the days of old.

>God saved us--and not nons.
>All Israelites--the vast majority in antiquity being descendants who had bled off and become other nations--had still been married to God, bound through a law they'd never known.
>God was "like a husband" to the unfaithful Bride (the vowed nation-state). The Bride was adulterous. Adultery is punishable by death according to the vow / the law.
>Romans 7
>Are ye ignorant, brethren -- for to those knowing law I speak -- that the law hath lordship over the man as long as he liveth?
>2 for the married woman to the living husband hath been bound by law, and ***if the husband may die***, she hath been free from the law of the husband;
>3 so, then, the husband being alive, an adulteress she shall be called if she may become another man's; and if the husband may die, she is free from the law, so as not to be an adulteress, having become another man's.
>4 So that, my brethren, ye also were made dead to the law ***through the body of the Christ*** [...]
>This is why it was necessary and sufficient that Christ died for our salvation. He is Yahweh incarnate. He was the Husband.

in reply to The Tired Horizon

I tried to set up with the reamper box but cant find the right cables. I was going to use the media player into it but its XLR in only on this reamper. So I had to figure out another solution.

Then I remembered my Ditto looper lets me drop sounds into it. I'm pretty experienced with mic placement now after 30 years of doing this LOL, so dropped the 2 samples click into it via USB. And this actually worked out better than reamping/excess cabling....

in reply to The Tired Horizon

I tend to focus the mic close on the edge of the dust cap, but have also done a couple at 45 degrees towards the same position.

I realised my radiator in my room is creating a kind of slap-back reverberation too. My solution is to place a fleece over it and this seems to have made the file size smaller by 3-400 samples.

Typically I'm getting 700ish samples length of sound from the 2 samples source.

Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

album: "Recovery" (2010)

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now, there's a steel knife in my windpipe
I can't breathe, but I still fight while I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right, it's like I'm in flight
High off of love, drunk from my hate
It's like I'm huffing paint, and I love her the more I suffer, I suffocate
And right before I'm about to drown, she resuscitates me
She fuckin' hates me, and I love it

"Wait! Where you going?" "I'm leaving you"
"No, you ain't, come back"
We're running right back, here we go again
It's so insane 'cause when it's going good, it's going great
I'm Superman with the wind at his back, she's Lois Lane
But when it's bad, it's awful
I feel so ashamed, I snapped, "Who's that dude?"
I don't even know his name
I laid hands on her, I'll never stoop so low again
I guess I don't know my own strength

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

You ever loved somebody so much
You can barely breathe when you're with 'em?
You meet and neither one of you even know what hit 'em
Got that warm fuzzy feeling, yeah, them chills, used to get 'em
Now you're getting fuckin' sick of looking at 'em
You swore you'd never hit 'em, never do nothing to hurt 'em
Now you're in each other's face, spewin' venom in your words when you spit 'em
You push, pull each other's hair, scratch, claw, bit 'em
Throw 'em down, pin 'em
So lost in the moments when you're in 'em

It's the rage that took over, it controls you both
So they say, yeah, best to go your separate ways
Guess that they don't know you 'cause today, that was yesterday
Yesterday is over, it's a different day
Sound like broken records playin' over, but you promised her
Next time, you'll show restraint
You don't get another chance
Life is no Nintendo game, but you lied again
Now you get to watch her leave out the window
Guess that's why they call it windowpane

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

Now I know we said things, did things that we didn't mean
And we fall back into the same patterns, same routine
But your temper's just as bad as mine is
You're the same as me, when it comes to love, you're just as blinded
Baby, please come back, it wasn't you, baby, it was me
Maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems
Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is I love you too much to walk away, though

Come inside, pick up your bags off the sidewalk
Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk?
Told you this is my fault, look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed, I'll aim my fist at the drywall
"Next time? There will be no next time"
I apologize, even though I know it's lies
I'm tired of the games, I just want her back
I know I'm a liar, if she ever tries to fucking leave again
I'ma tie her to the bed and set this house on fire

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

Ray McGovern Reports on Schiller Institute Conference with Judge 'Nap' on 'Judging Freedom' eir.news/2025/05/news/ray-mcgo…

I used to work with a lady who would always take an interest in my music. She’d ask how our jam sessions went and if I’d recorded anything new. But, anytime I had something new, she’d listen to it through, and then tell me that it’s “not her kind of music”.
It always bemused me that she would take such an interest if she didn’t like what I was making.

I decided to write her a song that she would enjoy.

Music was being streamed at work all the time, so I knew what sort of songs she was into. Classic Rock. Australian Pub Rock in particular. She was a single mum in her 50’s, a strong, hard woman, an Aussie battler.

I wrote Proud Woman in a weekend, and recorded it at home. A mate I regularly jam with did the vocals and when it was done, I uploaded it and shared it with her when I got to work.

She liked it.

The experience taught me the value of an audience of one. The focus on writing a song for one person, with the aim that they - that person in particular - enjoys it, gave me a different perspective on the whole creative process.

Please enjoy my song:

I relate to this so much.

I’ve been an independent musician for 30+ years, and I have written many songs for one person numerous times.

I feel that because I’ve come across and known so many special people in my life, that:
A. They deserve to feel special
B. It’s important to me to let them know how inspirational and supportive they’ve been for me.

One of these songs, for a Russian bartender friend of mine, was included on this collection

4 Non Blondes - What's Up (Official Music Video)

4 Non Blondes' "What's Up" is an empowering rock anthem that resonates with themes of frustration and self-discovery. Released in 1992, the song features powerful vocals from Linda Perry and a catchy chorus that has made it a timeless classic. Its relatable lyrics and energetic sound continue to inspire listeners, solidifying its place in 90s music history.

Lyrics:
25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I, I am feeling... a little peculiar.

And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's going on?

And I say:
Hey yeah yeaaah!
Hey yeah yeah.
I said hey
What's going on?

And I say:
Hey yeah yeaaah!
Hey yeah yeah.
I said hey
What's going on?

Uhh, uh, uhuhuh uhuhuh
Uhh, uh, uhuhuh uhuhuh

And I try
Oh my God do I try
I try all the time

John Denver - Take Me Home, Country Roads (Official Audio)

John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" is a beloved folk-country classic that evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing for home. Released in 1971, the song features heartfelt lyrics and a memorable melody, capturing the beauty of rural life and the comfort of familiar places. Its enduring popularity has made it an anthem for many, celebrating the spirit of the countryside.

Lyrics:
Almost heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze

Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

All my memories gather round her, miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

I hear her voice in the morning hour, she calls me, the radio reminds me of my home far away
And driving down the road I get a feeling that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

Everybody singing…

Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

Take me home, down country roads
Take me home, down country roads

All my memories gather round her, miner's lady, stranger to blue water.
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye.
Country roads, take me home to the place I belong.
West Virginia, mountain momma, take me home, country roads.

Evanescence - Bring Me To Life (Official Music Video)

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core where I've become so numb
Without a soul (soul), my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up) wake me up inside
(I can't wake up) wake me up inside
(Save me) call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up) bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up) before I come undone
(Save me) save me from the nothing I've become

Now that I know what I'm without, you can't just leave me
Breathe into me and make me real
Bring (bring) me (me) to life

(Wake me up) wake me up inside
(I can't wake up) wake me up inside
(Save me) call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up) bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up) before I come undone
(Save me) save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
I've been living a lie
There's nothing inside
Bring me to life

Frozen inside without your touch, without your love
Darling, only you are the life among the dead
All this time, I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me
I've been sleeping a thousand years, it seems
Got to open my eyes to everything
Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
Don't let me die here, there must be something more
Bring me to life

(Wake me up) wake me up inside
(I can't wake up) wake me up inside
(Save me) call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up) bid my blood to run
(I can't wake up) before I come undone
(Save me) save me from the nothing I've become

Bring me to life
I've been living a lie (bring me to life)
There's nothing inside
Bring me to life

Don’t get me wrong: I really do think there’s an employment market threat from gen AI.

Huge swaths of white-collar jobs — particularly entry-level jobs — have long been mostly bullshit (in the Office Space sense that what matters is the •appearance• of progress, and not actual results). Automated bullshit generators certainly threaten those jobs.

AI can certainly generate TPS reports that nobody reads.

2/

This entry was edited (1 month ago)
in reply to Paul Cantrell

And there’s an even larger segment of jobs where the job truly is, “Eh, autopilot is good enough, just repeat the obvious pattern, it only needs to be right sometimes. Better than the garbage we’re replacing!”

Sometimes that work is even legitimate. I wrote about this here: hachyderm.io/@inthehands/11360…

Something that detects and randomly regenerates contextually relevant patterns certainly could displace some of that work. As long as it doesn’t really matter if it’s wrong, just as long as it sort of has the correct shapes…well, sure, LLMs!

3/

I once worked at a company that sold industry-specific core-business software to deep-pocketed corps who couldn’t / wouldn’t / shouldn’t roll their own. I got into a discuss with my manager about whether our products were essentially — my words — a hoax.

Me: “Look, our products are riddled with bugs and holes. They’re nearly impossible to deploy, manage, and maintain. They frequently don’t even work •at all• on the putative release date, and we sell the mop-up as expensive ‘consulting.’”

1/

This entry was edited (1 month ago)
in reply to Paul Cantrell

As the article says, all of this especially threatens entry-level work. In so many worlds, we keep new people busy with something a bit mechanical where the results don’t really matter so that they can get acculturated, get socially integrated in the company and the industry, learn the lingo, learn the business. (If we get robots to do all our “wax on! wax off!” then how do you train the next Karate Kid?)

So yes: the job threat from BS generators is real, because jobs are full of BS.

4/

in reply to Paul Cantrell

Right now, there is a •preposterous• amount of money devoted to propping up an AI industry that is causing massive environmental damage, sits on unethical foundations, is enriching some of the worst people on earth, nurses a whole mountain of fascist fantasies (hachyderm.io/@inthehands/11455…), and isn’t even profitable.

For all those reasons, I’m really, really careful about what kind of hype I share. And — this is important! — I’m careful about what kind of hype I allow to get inside my own head.

7/

This entry was edited (1 month ago)
in reply to Paul Cantrell

Whatever LLMs and gen AI may or may not •actually• be good for, whatever jobs they may or may not actually reshape or displace, right now we’re in the middle of a bubble. The sheer amount of money involved makes it almost impossible to think clearly about this, much less have a useful public discussion. Even well-founded hopes and fears for the tech fuel a fire that I very much do not want to fuel.

8/

in reply to Paul Cantrell

So look, if you talk to me about the job threat from the things we currently call “AI,” well…

…if where you’re going with that is “The concentration of wealth is an existential crisis! Establish UBI! 99% marginal tax rate! Capital gains tax! Wealth tax! Abolish billionaires!” then yes, I’m •all• ears. My pitchfork is already sharpened.

But if where you’re going is “Get in on it now while you still can! Buy the AI vendors’ products! Drink radium for that youthful glow!” then…kthanksbye. I am not going to be a vector for your marketing propaganda, no matter how agitated you are.

/end

in reply to Paul Cantrell

P.S. Hat tip to @pluralistic for the radium reference. He was talking about other things (pluralistic.net/2024/09/19/jus…), but the whole vibe of that “Radium will magically restore you to health!” era is by far the best historical comparison I’ve found from the current froth-mouthed AI hype.

RUN DMC - King Of Rock

RUN DMC's "King Of Rock" is a groundbreaking hip-hop anthem that solidified the group's status as pioneers in the genre. Released in the mid-1980s, the track blends rap with rock elements, showcasing their innovative style. Its bold lyrics and energetic beat have made it a classic, influencing countless artists and shaping the future of hip-hop.

Lyrics:
I'm the king of rock, there is none higher
Sucker MCs should call me sire
To burn my kingdom, you must use fire
I won't stop rockin' 'til I retire

Now we rock the party and come correct
Our cuts are on time and rhymes connect
Got the right to vote and will elect
And other rappers can't stand us, but give us respect

They called us and said we're gettin' iller
There's no one chiller
It's not Michael Jackson and this is not "Thriller"
As one def rapper, I know I can hang
I'm Run from Run-D.M.C., like Kool from Kool and the Gang
Roll to the rock, rock to the roll
D.M.C. stands for devastating mic control
You can't touch me with a ten-foot pole
And I even made the devil sell me his soul

Now we crash through walls, cut through floors
Bust through ceilings and knock down doors
And when we're on the tape, we're fresh out the box
You can hear our sound for blocks and blocks
For every living person we're a purple treat
It's me and D.M.C., Jay, where's the beat?

Now we're the baddest of the bad, the coolest of the cool
I'm D.M.C., I rock and roll, I'm DJ Run, I rock and rule
It's not a Trick or Treat and it's not a April Fool
It's all brand new, never ever old school

You got the music in your body and you can't comprehend
When your mind won't wiggle and your knees will bend
Music ain't nothin' but a people's jam
It's DJ Run-D.M.C. rockin' without a band

Now I walked on ice and never fell
I spent my time in a plush hotel
I stood on many stages, held many mics
Take airplane flights, at huge heights
So all you sucker MCs, you gotta say please
'Cause when he jumps high, I'm pulling down weeds
Got a song so strong, it's knocking down trees
It isn't hard to believe it's Run-D.M.C.?

I am from, around the way
And Run goes to school, every day
And Jay plays the records he has to play
And we get down with no delay, hey!
I rock the party with the words I speak
And Run says the rhymes that are unique
And Jay cuts the records every day of the week
And we are the crew that can never be beat

So don't try to diss me, try to be my friend
'Cause if you do, you'll get yours in the end
The rhymes we say, shall set a trend
Because a devestating rap is what we send

Every jam we play, we break two needles
There's three of us but we're not The Beatles
My name is Darryl, you can call him D
You can call me Darryl Mack, or you can call him D.M.C.
People always ask, "D.M.C., what does it mean?"
D's for never dirty, MC for mostly clean

Like we said before, we rock hardcore
I'm DJ Run, I can scratch, I'm D.M.C., I can draw
And now we got the knack, to attract
Our rhyme's an aphrodisiac
We'll reign on your brain and rock your knot
When it comes to rock, give it all we got
To be MCs, we got what it takes

Let the poppers pop and the breakers break
We're cool, cool cats, it's like that
That's the way it is, so stay the hell back
We're causin' hard times, for sucker M
'Cause they don't make no songs like these
Period!

(Don't stop!)

So I just whipped up a tiny Kitten app that tells you what your IP address is.

Yes, there are dozens of such services. But I wanted something I trust (because I built and host it).

Please feel free to use it.
