Well, at least the base model Xbox Ally has essentially the same SoC as the Steam Deck. The Z2 A has 4 Zen 2 cores and 8 RDNA 2 CUs. It will be configurable up to 20 watts TDP instead of 15 on the Deck, but that's it. So much for "long in the tooth technology wise".
Sure, the Z2 Extreme variant will be more powerful, but it'll also be in a different price category (800-900,-€).
And in terms of user-friendliness: the Xbox Ally will run Windows. It won't launch into the regular desktop shell (by default), and it won't have as many services running in the background which might help with performance and battery life, and you'll probably be able to update drivers and Windows through it. Maybe it will have some preconfigured scripts/shortcuts to install Steam, Battle.net etc. But that's it. Expect to fall back to the desktop mode (or open a browser, terminal and Explorer window in the new gaming mode) for anything more advanced like installing emulators.
In terms of pick up and play this won't be much different to the Steam Deck, with the one exception being Game Pass - but even then don't expect any of the more demanding titles to run well.
This machine will be the same desktop-mode-not-required-but-allows-for-more-functionality thing that the Steam Deck is, but it will chew through battery faster in exchange for more compatibility.

The ROG Ally X's MSRP is 899,-€ and that's what it currently costs here in Germany at least. It was as low as 799,-€ though recently, but now it's back up. Considering this "Xbox Ally X" is the successor to it, I don't think it's unrealistic.
My friend is working on adding ActivityPub support to his blog platform (BDServer) so people can follow/comment from Mastodon, Lemmy, etc.
Current status: Lemmy and Misskey can find and follow his account (@blenderdumbass@blenderdumbass.org), but Mastodon can't find it at all, even though he sees proper ActivityPub requests hitting his server.

This article is published on a website which is powered by BDServer. And I'm trying to make this website support ActivityPub, so you could for example, subscribe to me from your Mastodon account. Yet it is easier said than done.
I'm not the most knowledgeable about Mastodon's APub implementation, but having a look at the Actor of that profile, it might be because it's invalid JSON-LD. Now, Mastodon doesn't actually do proper JSON-LD checks, you can follow PieFed profiles from Mastodon and they don't produce proper JSON-LD, but they do include "https://w3id.org/security/v1" in their @context, and doing a code search of Mastodon's source code does show some checks for if that's included.
Lemmy's I am familiar with and irrc it doesn't even check if @context is present.

Seems like somebody mentioned the account on the fediverse that started a chain reaction of various instances requesting a bunch of stuff. Which made it to Mastodon.social too. It still doesn't work though.
The server is written in python and the idea is to make it deploy-able without needing to install anything extra. So I'm trying to implement my own activity pub.
It's for django, but take a look into my ActivityPub Toolkit. It is designed to be compliant with ActivityPub and not with any particular implementation, so it should be easy for you to adapt to your own needs.

This only really works for people who have hardware whose fingerprint readers are supported by upstream fprintd; would be interesting if they (or another distro; haven't seen anybody implement this yet) add a "just works" option for installing and setting up e.g. libfprint-tod-vfs0090 or python-validity (which I use on two of my machines actually), similar to how some distros (Mint included I believe, but haven't dealt with it in a while) give you an option for installing Nvidia proprietary drivers (or just make it work out of the box).
However these drivers are extremely sketch at times so... I guess there's some good out of it not being preconfigured for people (because you have to look into it yourself and realize just how terrifying they are, both security and stability wise, python-validity especially)...
(though now I'm on NixOS where I have it pretty much "just work" through not that much effort, at least not as much as on Arch, and definitely not as much as on Mint which was painful because PPA fuckery)
This isn't too out there for GameFreak honestly. They've consistently made non-pokemon games every single console generation. People just ignore them because "GameFreak are the pokemon guys." Pocket Card Jockey is a top tier title that got no respect because it wasn't pokemon. Also it occasionally proves that GameFreak really needs more time or staff, because making a yearly pokemon title with the staff of a small studio and the expectations of a giant studio is rather difficult.
@Spooke Yeah the games are hit and miss. Little Town Hero was possibly their biggest miss, and bringing in john undertale to compose wasn't going to do anything for it. Giga Wrecker is a really cool idea though and Tembo the Badass Elephant, for how much of a silly mess it is, is a neat game. Also for how much shit some of the games get now I will still argue Legends Arceus was on of the best, and Legends Z-A will probably be a really solid title too from how it's shaping up. In general GameFreak just seems to do better when given time and experimentation. Probably should only handle the Legends sub-series at this point and let mainline be given to some other studio.

Open a TTY (Cttl+Alt+F3 for example, works from F1 to F6 but depending on Wayland or Xorg F1, F2 and/or F6 may be used so F3 should be good, otherwise try another one).
The TTY will ask for your username and password, so login with your normal user (not root).
You shoud get to an interactive shell, so you can go to the Gnome extensions directory (cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/).
You can now remove the problematic extension (rm -r …).
Now either you reboot your computer (the reboot command will be enough to restart the computer), this will ensure you don't keep a remaining session and you'll boot in your login manager (GDM I guess).

Per Mobiltelefon hat Maja nun mit dem MDR gesprochen. Sie habe damit gerechnet, dass das Kammergericht für die Auslieferung entscheidet. Was sie jedoch überrascht habe, sei "die Art und Weise" der Auslieferung gewesen. Noch am Abend davor sei sie so naiv gewesen zu glauben, dass die sächsischen Behörden eine Prüfung seitens des Bundesverfassungsgerichts abwarten würden. In Dresden sei sie jedoch in den Morgenstunden von acht schwerbewaffneten Beamten in einem Polizeiwagen zum Flughafen gebracht worden, wo ein Helikopter bereitgestanden habe. Begleitet worden sei der Wagen von einer Eskorte von "mindestens zehn" Mannschaftswagen der Polizei. Straßen auf dem Weg seien abgesperrt gewesen. Die 29-Jährige wird beschuldigt, in Budapest an Angriffen auf Neonazis beteiligt gewesen zu sein. Seit 1997 versammeln sich jeweils im Februar am „Tag der Ehre" rechtsextreme Netzwerke aus ganz Europa in Ungarns Hauptstadt, um der Waffen-SS des Nazi-Regimes und ihren ungarischen Kollaborateuren zu huldigen. Dagegen rufen Antifaschist:innen aus vielen Staaten regelmäßig zum Protest auf.
Zum sechsten Mal versammelten sich Unterstützer:innen von Hanna S. vor der Mauer der Nürnberger Justizvollzugsanstalt und verlangten die Freilassung ihrer Freundin: „Hanna, lass dein Haar herunter!...
Generalbundesanwaltschaft erhöht Druck auf #FreeHanna – ein politisch motiviertes Verfahren ist zu erwarten #NoExtradition
Wie heute aus einer Äußerung der Generalbundesanwaltschaft zu entnehmen war, wurde nun eine Anklage gegen die Nürnberger Antifaschistin Hanna erhoben. Der Ungeheuerlichste Vorwurf: „versuchter Mord“. Alex Schmidt, Pressesprecher des Solikreis #Nürnberg äußert sich dazu wie folgt: „Hier soll ganz klar der Druck auf unsere Genossin und alle anderen Beschuldigten erhöht werden. Wir sehen in diesem Vorgehen außerdem den deutlichen Versuch, die im Budapest-Komplex verfolgten Antifas mit derlei schwerwiegenden – absolut haltlosen – Vorwürfen zu dämonisieren, politisch zu isolieren und so letztendlich die Solidarität mit ihnen zu brechen.“
Bereits im März diesen Jahres versuchte die Bundesanwaltschaft bei #FreeMaja dasselbe. Damals teilte der Bundesgerichtshof diese Auffassung nicht und wendete so bei Majas Haftprüfung die Klassifizierung der Auseinandersetzungen in Ungarn als „versuchten Mord“ ab. Schmidt meint: „Dieser erneute Anlauf, die im Budapest-Komplex verfolgten Antifas als erfolglose Mörderbande darzustellen, gibt einen deutlichen Hinweis auf die politische Motivation der Bundesanwaltschaft……
Sa, 19.10.24, 17 Uhr, JVA Nürnberg - Am Montag, den 06. Mai 2024, wurde Hanna unter dem Vorwurf der Mitgliedschaft in einer kriminellen Vereinigung, sowie Körperverletzung verhaftet.
In den letzten Tagen wurde bekannt, dass Anklage gegen Hanna im Budapest-Komplex erhoben werden soll. Die Generalbundesanwaltschaft will Anklage wegen versuchtem Mord durchsetzen und erhöt damit den Druck auf alle Beschuldigten. Wir stehen allen Betroffenen weiterhin zur Seite und werden gemeinsam unsere Solidarität auf die Straße bringen.
Der Budapest-Komplex stellt derzeit einen der größten Repressionsschläge gegen Antifaschist*innen in #Deutschland dar. Während Tobi in #Ungarn im Knast sitzt und Ilaria zwischenzeitlich im Hausarrest war, wurde nun auch Maja an den faschistoiden Staat ausgeliefert. Auch Hanna droht weiterhin eine Auslieferung nach Ungarn. Weitere Beschuldigte werden per Öffentlichkeitsfahndung gesucht, ihre Umfelder drangsaliert und überwacht. Dabei wird das Drohszenario Ungarn immer wieder durch deutsche Ermittlungsbehörden ausgenutzt und versucht, Genoss*innen zu Geständnissen und Verrat zu bringen…

Seit drei Monaten sitzt Maja T. im ungarischen Gefängnis. Majas Vater Wolfram Jarosch berichtet, was das bedeutet.
„Salis ist nach den EU-Wahlen im Juni ins Europäische Parlament gewählt worden, nachdem sie über ein Jahr in einem ungarischen Gefängnis verbracht hatte. In Ungarn wird ihr vorgeworfen, einen Neonazi während einer rechtspopulistischen Veranstaltung in #Budapest im Jahr 2023 angegriffen zu haben. Mit der Wahl ins EU-Parlament genießt die italienische Aktivistin Immunität und wurde aus diesem Grund aus ihrer Haft in Ungarn entlassen.
Ihr Fall erregte internationale Aufmerksamkeit, als Fotos auftauchten, die sie erniedrigt in Handschellen und Fußfesseln beim Betreten des Gerichtssaals zeigten.
Im Januar hatte Salis einen Brief an das italienische Konsulat geschickt, in dem sie die Herausforderungen schilderte, mit denen sie im Budapester Gefängnis konfrontiert war. Unter anderem nannte sie unhygienische Bedingungen….“

Ab Mitte Februar wird die Nürnberger Antifaschistin Hanna in München vor Gericht stehen. Ihr wird vorgeworfen, im Februar 2023 am Rande eines Naziaufmarsches in Budapest an körperlichen Auseinandersetzungen beteiligt gewesen zu sein. Lasst Antifas nicht mit der Repression allein und kommt zur Demo am 22.2.2025 in München!
wie war das denn nun genau? Als das im Juli durch die Gazetten ging hieß es noch, die Anwälte hätten den Bullen bescheid gegeben, dass da eine Entscheidung aussteht, die Bullen hätten trotzdem angefangen und als die Entscheidung da war, war Maja noch in Deutschland oder Österreich unterwegs, das hätte also noch abgebrochen werden können. Begründung der Polizei (oder Justizminister?): "Wir dachten da wir schon auf dem Weg sind würde das Verfassungsgericht nicht mehr auf Durchsetzung seines Urteils bestehen". Erinnert sich da noch jemand dran?
Anklage gegen Maja erhoben Isolationshaft ist Folter #FreeMaja
„Nachdem wir lange im Unklaren darüber waren, wie es mit Maja weitergeht, gibt es nun erschreckende Neuigkeiten. Die Staatsanwaltschaft Budapest hat ihre Ermittlungen gegen Maja beendet und erhebt nun Anklage: Sie fordert 14 Jahre Haft unter besonders strengen Haftbedingungen. Das ist, wie auch schon bei dem im gleichen Komplex bereits verurteilten Tobi als eine Art Deal zu verstehen, ein "Kompromiss" im Gegenzug für ein Geständnis.
Maja kann diese Anklage annehmen und durch die Abgabe eines Geständnisses direkt 14 Jahre absitzen. Bei einer Ablehnung des Deals wird Maja in Budapest der Prozess gemacht wobei dann mit der Forderung nach einer deutlich höheren Haftstrafe zu rechnen ist.
Wir sind entsetzt, ja wirklich fassungslos über die geforderte Strafe und das Vorgehen der ungarischen Justiz. Solche Deals sind dazu da, um Beschuldigte massiv unter Druck zu setzen und letztlich zu brechen. Bei Nicht-Eingehen des Deals folgt die weitere unsichere Situation, ein langwieriger Gerichtsprozess der sich über Jahre ziehen wird, die Weiterführung der Isolationshaft und die Möglichkeit auf eine noch höhere Haftstrafe.“

„Die von Ungarn beantragte Auslieferung von Maja T. war am 27. Juni 2024 vom zuständigen Berliner Kammergericht für rechtmäßig erklärt worden. Eine von T.s Anwälten erwirkte einstweilige Anordnung des Bundesverfassungsgerichts in Karlsruhe (Az.: 2 BvR 1103/24) am nächsten Morgen kam rund vier Stunden zu spät: T. war zum Zeitpunkt dieser Entscheidung schon über Österreich nach Ungarn gebracht worden. Die Anweisung an die Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Berlin, eine Übergabe zu verhindern und die Rückführung zu erwirken, blieb folgenlos.
Die Karlsruher Entscheidung sei juristisch "ein großer Erfolg", teilte Anwalt Richwin mit. Sie werde T. aber nicht ohne Weiteres aus der Isolationszelle führen. Das Bundesverfassungsgericht hat die Auslieferung einer mutmaßlich linksextremen Person nach Ungarn für rechtswidrig erklärt. Zugleich übte es Kritik an einem Berliner Gericht. Das Urteil ist auch politisch brisant.

Gegen den „Tag der Ehre“ und dessen Teilnehmende – auch 2025
Jedes Jahr im Februar wird in Budapest Mitgliedern der Waffen-SS und ihrer ungarischen Kollaborateure als Märtyrer gedacht. Diese hatten 1944 erfolglos versucht, der Einkesselung durch die Rote Armee zu entkommen. Seit 1997 findet der sogenannte „Tag der Ehre“ statt. Mittlerweile wird er von der militanten ungarischen Nazi-Gruppierung Légió Hungária organisiert, die für Übergriffe auf Linke bekannt ist und 2018 ein jüdisches Gemeindezentrum in Budapest angegriffen hatte.
Im Februar 2023 kam es rund um den „Tag der Ehre“ zu Festnahmen von Antifaschist:innen, denen Angriffe auf Neonazis vorgeworfen werden. Europäische Haftbefehle und Fahndungsaufrufe hatten zur Folge, dass in den nächsten Wochen mehr als 10 Linke untertauchten, da klar war, dass es kein faires Verfahren in Ungarn geben wird….“

Trotz dessen entschied ich mich zu sprechen, denn ich stehe heute hier, weil ich vor acht Monaten mit einem Akt des Rechtsbruches entführt und hierher ausgeliefert wurde - von einem Land, dessen Verfassung versprach meine Würde zu achten und zu schützen, doch dessen vermeintlich rechtsstaatlichen Organe sich über das höchste deutsche Gericht hinweg setzten, um ihres illegalen Handelns und des mir hier Drohenden wissend. "Der Spruch des Bundesverfassungsgerichts zu ihren Gunsten hat der antifaschistischen Aktivistin Maja T. nichts mehr genutzt. In einem Brief aus dem Gefängnis, welcher der Frankfurter Rundschau vorliegt, schildert die 24-jährige nicht-binäre Person aus Thüringen ihre Situation.
„Von meinem Sieg zu sprechen traue ich mich gerade nicht, war ich doch bereits an Händen und Füßen gefesselt, als meine Anwälte ihn (den Antrag) einreichten, war bereits ausgeflogen in ein Jetzt und Hier, das mir seit sieben Monaten den Atem raubt und mich ungeduldig vor sich her treibt, wie ein entrissenes Herdentier zwischen Häuserschluchten“, heißt es in den Notizen.
Maja T., der Gewalttaten gegen Teilnehmer eines Neonazi-Treffens in Budapest im Jahr 2023 und die Mitgliedschaft in einer kriminellen Vereinigung vorgeworfen werden, steht in Ungarn vor Gericht und befindet sich in Isolationshaft. Zur Verhandlung wurde sie im Februar in so engen Ketten vorgeführt, dass sie den Saal nur in kleinen Schritten betreten konnte...."
Nach einer Entscheidung des Bundesverfassungsgerichts hätte Maja T. nicht nach Ungarn ausgeliefert werden dürfen. Jetzt meldet sie sich aus der Haft in Budapest.

"Mein Name ist Maja. Vor fast einem Jahr wurde ich rechtswidrig nach Ungarn ausgeliefert. Seitdem werde ich hier in menschenunwürdiger Langzeit-Einzelhaft gefangen gehalten. Gestern, am 4. Juni 2025, sollte über meinen Antrag auf Verlegung in den Hausarrest entschieden werden. Diese Entscheidung wurde verschoben. Die früheren Anträge auf Verlegung in den Hausarrest wurden abgelehnt. Ich bin nicht länger dazu bereit, in dieser untragbaren Situation auszuharren und auf Entscheidungen einer Justiz zu warten, die über die letzten Monate meine Rechte immer wieder systematisch verletzt hat. Ich beginne daher heute, am 5. Juni 2025, einen Hungerstreik. Ich fordere, dass ich nach Deutschland zurück überstellt werde, dass ich zu meiner Familie zurückkehren kann und dass ich von zuhause an dem Verfahren in Ungarn teilnehmen kann.
Ich kann die Haftbedingungen in Ungarn nicht weiter ertragen. Meine Zelle war über drei Monate rund um die Uhr videoüberwacht. Ich musste über sieben Monate außerhalb meiner Zelle immer Handschellen tragen, teilweise auch in meiner Zelle, egal ob beim Einkaufen, bei Skype-Telefonaten oder bei Besuchen....."

Now Maja is taking the ultimate step: a hunger strike. The reason for this is the renewed postponement of a decision on the conversion of their pretrial detention to house arrest. Instead of acting immediately, the court in Budapest, Hungary has postponed the decision until June 20.
My name is Maja. I was illegally extradited to Hungary almost a year ago. Since then, I have been held here in inhumane prolonged solitary confinement. Yesterday, on 4 June 2025, a decision was supposed to be made about my petition to be transferred to house arrest. That decision was postponed. My prior petitions to be transferred to house arrest have been rejected. I am no longer willing to endure this unbearable situation and wait for decisions from a judiciary that has systematically violated my rights again and again in recent months. For that reason, I am beginning a hunger strike today, 5 June 2025. I demand to be transferred back to Germany, to be able to return to my family, and to be able to participate in the trial in Hungary from my home.
I can no longer tolerate the prison conditions in Hungary. My cell was under 24-hour video surveillance for more than three months.....

Razzien in falschen Wohnungen, demütigende Behandlung der Angetroffenen, traumatisierte Erwachsene und Kinder – bei Hausdurchsuchungen im sogenannten Budapest-Komplex in Leipzig und Jena sind die beteiligten Landespolizeien am 15. März 2023 brutal und herablassend aufgetreten. Darüber berichtet ein Dokumentarfilm, den das nichtkommerzielle Medienprojekt »Insight Reports« am Mittwoch auf Youtube online gestellt hat. Unter dem Titel »Zwischen Trauma und Gewalt« werden dabei bislang unveröffentlichte Vorwürfe gegen die Behörden erhoben. Die Filmemacher*innen stützen dies auf Interviews mit Betroffenen, die an dem Tag von der Polizei angetroffen und behelligt wurden.
Bei Hausdurchsuchungen im Budapest-Komplex ging die Polizei in Leipzig und Jena brutal und herablassend vor. Über diese und andere unbekannte Details berichtet über ein Jahr später ein neuer Dokumentarfilm.
"Obwohl sich Maja nun seit fast einem Jahr in Isolationshaft in Budapest befindet, die deutsche Außenministerin Annalena Baerbock die deutsche Botschaft damit beauftragen wollte und Maja vor Gericht vorgeführt und erniedrigt wurde, ändert sich nichts.
Der Umgang mit Maja und die Haftbedingungen sind menschenunwürdig, unvorstellbar und trotzdem tagtägliche Realität für Maja. "....ich möchte Sie wissen lassen, mein Protest verstummt nicht, nein, ich trete in den Hungerstreik. Es ist die Konsequenz aus dem, was ich seit anderthalb Jahren erfahre, als ich im Knast lebendig begraben wurde.
Ich möchte erzählen von heute Nacht, in der meine Augen plötzlich flimmerten und mich ein helles Licht aus dem Schlaf riss. Doch davor hatte ich einen Traum, in dem ich dachte, ich wisse nicht mehr, wo ich sei. Das „Ich“ irrte durch die Gänge eines Gebäudes, es vermochte nicht stehen zu bleiben, floh, aber fand keine Tür, die sich öffnen ließ. Also stieg das „Ich“ Treppen herauf und herunter, es erschöpfte, der Verstand versuchte zu analysieren. Doch das „Ich“ drehte sich im Kreis, schlug gegen Wände. In dem Traum war ich allein, ich hörte bloß dumpfe Stimmen voller Wut und Trauer, die mich berührten, als seien sie Sonnenstrahlen. Dann riss mich ein helles Licht aus dem Schlaf, nur 2 Sekunden lang, und die Deckenlampe erlosch wieder, die Schritte des Beamten verhallten, ich lag wach und hatte Angst davor, wieder in den Traum zurückzukehren. Dabei spiegelt er doch bloß das wieder, was ich seit 18 Monaten erlebe...."

Die Situation ist die: dass Zaid A. demnächst in einem ganz anderen Gefängnis sitzen könnte – in einem in Ungarn. Dorthin droht dem Nürnberger und gebürtigen Syrer die Auslieferung. Die Haft in der JVA Köln, in der sich Zaid A. derzeit befindet, ist bereits die Auslieferungshaft. Denn das rechtsautoritär regierte Ungarn unter Viktor Orbán will ihn dort vor Gericht sehen....

Rexhino »Gino« Abazaj könnte an Ungarn ausgeliefert werden, wo er wegen derselben Vorwürfe gesucht wird wie die EU-Abgeordnete Ilaria Salis. Im Interview äußert er sich zur Flucht aus Finnland und zur Haftsituation.
„Am 10. Dezember hätte es soweit sein können. Tobi hat an diesem Tag seinen letzten Tag der Strafhaft in Ungarn abgesessen. Er hätte freigelassen werden sollen. Doch es kam anders. Dafür gesorgt hat vor allem das LKA Sachsen.
Im Oktober wurde ein europäischen Haftbefehl gegen Tobi beantragt. Dieser wurde ihm in der Woche vor seiner Entlassung aus der ungarischen Strafhaft überstellt. Während der Gerichtsprozess am 4. Dezember für die weiterhin beschuldigte Berliner Genossin weiterging, traf ein anderes ungarisches Gericht die Entscheidung, dem Auslieferungsantrag der deutschen Behörden stattzugeben. Folglich schloss sich der Strafhaft Auslieferungshaft an. Am 20.12. erfolgte die Überstellung an deutsche Beamte, die Tobi daraufhin nach Karlsruhe gebracht haben. Am 21.12 wurde Tobi beim Bundesgerichtshof dem Haftrichter vorgeführt und wird seitdem durch die angeordnete U-Haft gefangen gehalten….“

"Seit dem 12. November 2024 ist unser Genosse Gino in Frankreich inhaftiert. Gegen ihn liegt ein von Ungarn ausgestellter Europäischer Haftbefehl vor, der ihn beschuldigt, 2023 in Budapest Gewalt gegen Nazis ausgeübt zu haben. Bei einer Auslieferung drohen Gino bis zu 16 Jahre Haft.
Es wäre ein Skandal, wenn Frankreich bereit ist, mit der faschistischen Regierung von Victor Orban zusammenzuarbeiten.
Deshalb möchten wir Druck auf die Justiz ausüben und der Stimme der antifaschistischen Solidarität gegen die Zusammenarbeit der französischen Justiz mit einem rechtsextremen Staat international Gehör verschaffen.
Am 15. Januar wird die französische Justiz über das Schicksal unseres Genossen entscheiden, und wir möchten den Druck verstärken. My name is Maja. Since June 5, I have been on hunger strike [ see here ; Ed. ]. I started it to protest my illegal and unredressed extradition from Germany to Hungary a year ago, the repressive persecution of anti-fascists, the dubious legal proceedings with a pre-determined outcome, my solitary confinement, which continues to this day, and the inhumane conditions of detention in Hungarian jails. Now, after almost six weeks, I have decided to suspend my hunger strike.
I don’t want to continue abusing my health, because I feel that if I don’t turn around now, it will soon be too late. So, it wouldn’t do much good if my requests were met. I would be scarred for life, perhaps I already am. I never wanted to get to this point; I naively hoped that something as radical as the hunger strike would finally raise awareness among those in charge and all those who can change something, that they would take action, after a year of soothing statements, smiles, and ignorance.
Now, there’s not much left of me. My body—a skeleton, with an intact, fighting, and living spirit. It smiles, searches the horizon for freedom and community, and refuses to accept the lack of justice. But I’m not ready to take the step toward imminent death. Of course, we’re not sure; maybe there are still a few days, maybe a few weeks. But if I were to lose consciousness, I would be shifting the responsibility onto the people fighting alongside me, something I’m not ready to impose on anyone. The same would happen if I were subjected to force-feeding.
On July 1st, I was transferred to a prison hospital, 250 km from Budapest, because by then there were already serious concerns about the stability of my health. The new location is quieter than the jail in the big city, but just as isolated, if not more so. Contact with my family is also severely limited. My lawyer, always an indispensable support, now needs a whole day to visit me. During my hour-long walk in the courtyard, I don’t meet any fellow inmates. I spend the remaining 23 hours in the cell, because there are no activities here. The loneliness is heartbreaking, homesickness fills the horizon. Medically, it is possible to get the body back on its feet in this place, but mental recovery seems impossible here. With the predictable return to Budapest, nothing will have changed, because there awaits me what made the hunger strike a necessity. Neither hospital nor prison in Hungary can be a solution.
My demands remain unchanged! I require a transfer back to Germany or house arrest and legal proceedings in accordance with the rule of law. I am determined not to remain silent and to protest, even in the future, for as long as necessary.
I am now ending my hunger strike so that no one is responsible for any long-term or permanent damage to my health. However, this does not absolve anyone of the responsibility to create humane detention conditions, free from pain and suffering, for everyone, to conduct independent judicial proceedings in accordance with the rule of law, whose sentence is not written in advance, and to guarantee the integrity of the detained person, to respect their dignity instead of despising and punishing them. If this does not happen, if my demands are still ignored, I am determined to resume my hunger strike.
I demand what is necessary—that I be able to be at home with my family, that I be able to develop through school, work, etc., that I be able to prepare for trial on an equal footing and no longer be buried alive in a cell. I am still waiting for a clear and honest word, an apology from those responsible for my extradition, as well as an offer of reparation. Even if it comes last, it is the most important thing to me.
Thank you to all those who spoke out, who stood by our side, and to those who have been there, courageously, for a long time, to those who firmly defend the need for anti-fascism, to those who support us, who sacrifice nights and days, who donate, and who are anchors. ‚Jarosch ist seit Mittwoch unterwegs. Er startete an der Justizvollzugsanstalt Dresden und will die 800 Kilometer lange Strecke in die ungarische Hauptstadt zu Fuß zurücklegen. Nach eigenen Angaben fordert er mit der Aktion eine Beendigung der Isolationshaft seines Kindes und dessen Rücküberstellung nach Deutschland. In der JVA Dresden saß Maja T. bis zur ihrer Auslieferung nach Ungarn in Haft…. (…) "Es ist ein wichtiges Signal, dass nun endlich eine Delegation des Auswärtigen Amtes nach Ungarn reist. Doch bisher hat sich an den tatsächlichen Bedingungen nichts verändert. Selbst während des 40-tägigen Hungerstreiks wurde Maja im Haftkrankenhaus weiter isoliert," so Jarosch.
Bundesaußenminister Johann Wadephul (CDU) hatte zuletzt erklärt, er wolle sich für bessere Haftbedingungen von Maja T. einsetzen.
Doch wie aus einer Mitteilung des Solikomitees vom Freitag hervorgeht, hat das Berufungsgericht in Budapest Hausarrest erneut abgelehnt. Es beruft sich dabei auf den Hungerstreik und dessen gesundheitliche Folgen des Angeklagten. Das Gericht wirft Maja T. vor, das Verfahren zu verzögern.….‘
Die mutmaßlich linksextreme Maja T. steht in Ungarn wegen Gewalt gegen Rechtsextremisten vor Gericht. Erst kürzlich hatte die non-binäre Person einen Hungerstreik beendet. Nun läuft Majas Vater aus Protest nach Budapest.
Liebe Mitmenschen, Gefährt*innen und Unterstützer*innen,
‚mein Name ist Maja. Seit dem 5. Juni befinde ich mich im Hungerstreik. Ihn begann ich als Protest gegen die rechtswidrige und doch nicht wiedergutgemachte Auslieferung von Deutschland nach Ungarn vor einem Jahr, die repressive Verfolgung von Antifaschist*innen, die vorverurteilende und fragwürdige Prozessführung, genauso gegen die bis heute andauernde Isolationshaft und die menschenverachtenden Haftbedingungen in ungarischen Knästen. Nun habe ich mich dazu entschlossen den Hungerstreik nach fast sechs Wochen zu pausieren.
Ich möchte meine Gesundheit nicht weiter strapazieren, denn ich spüre, wenn ich jetzt nicht umkehre, ist es bald zu spät dafür. Dann würde es auch wenig nützen, würden meine Forderungen erfüllt werden. Ich wäre fürs Leben gezeichnet, bin es womöglich schon jetzt. Ich wollte es nie soweit kommen lassen, hoffte naiv darauf, dass ein so radikaler Schritt wie der Hungerstreik endlich Bewusstsein bei den Verantwortungsträger*innen und allen, die etwas ändern können, schafft, dass sie handeln, nach einem Jahr Beschwichtigungen, Lächeln und Ignoranz….‘
„Die in Ungarn inhaftierte non-binäre Person Maja T. beendet ihren Hungerstreik. Das erfuhr MDR-Investigativ aus Majas Umfeld. In einer anschließend verbreiteten schriftlichen Stellungnahme begründete Maja den Schritt mit gesundheitlichen Problemen:

Im Juni war Maja T. wegen schlechter Haftbedingungen in einem ungarischen Gefängnis in den Hungerstreik getreten. Diesen hat T. nach Informationen des MDR beendet - der Gesundheitszustand hatte sich stark verschlechtert.
‚Das EKG zeigt, dass Majas Herzfrequenz zeitweise auf 30 Schläge pro Minute sinkt. Maja wiegt aktuell – mit Kleidung – nur noch 66 kg und hat damit bereits 14 kg verloren. Die gesamten Körperfettreserven sind aufgebraucht.
Die Ärzte planen für heute ein Belastungs-EKG. Sie erwägen die Implantation eines Herzschrittmachers.
Maja wird erklärt, dass ein 24-Stunden-EKG mit kontinuierlicher Überwachung im Haftkrankenhaus nicht durchführbar sei. Als Alternative wird Maja eine Verlegung in ein ziviles Krankenhaus vorgeschlagen. Dort sei eine durchgehende EKG-Überwachung technisch möglich. Allerdings würde Maja in einem zivilen Krankenhaus rund um die Uhr ans Bett gefesselt, da dort nicht dieselben Sicherheitsmaßnahmen wie in einem Haftkrankenhaus bestehen…‘
‚Der Gesundheitszustand von Antifaschist:in Maja hat sich rapide verschlechtert. Aus diesem Grund hat sich das „Rettet Maja Aktionscamp“ gebildet, um vor dem Auswärtigen Amt weiter Druck auf die Bundesregierung auszuüben.
Seit nunmehr 39 Tagen befindet sich die nicht-binäre, antifaschistische Person Maja im Hungerstreik. Vor einem Jahr wurde Maja von deutschen Behörden rechtswidrig nach Ungarn ausgeliefert und seitdem unter menschenunwürdigen Bedingungen in Isolationshaft festgehalten. Diese Haftumstände haben Maja zum Hungerstreik gezwungen.
Infolgedessen hat sich Majas Gesundheitszustand dramatisch verschlechtert: Die Fettreserven sind aufgebraucht, und die Herzfrequenz liegt mit nur noch ca. 30 Schlägen pro Minute weit unter der eines gesunden Erwachsenen. Der ungarische Staat hat Maja inzwischen in ein Gefängniskrankenhaus verlegt und droht mit Zwangsmaßnahmen wie der Einsetzung eines Herzschrittmachers oder Zwangsernährung.…‘
‚Wegen des Gesundheitszustands wurde T. vor Kurzem in eine Gefängnisklinik verlegt. Wie der „Spiegel“ am Donnerstag unter Berufung auf das Umfeld berichtet, soll Maja T. dort ein Herzschrittmacher eingesetzt werden. Die Herzfrequenz sei zeitweise auf 30 Schläge pro Minute gesunken.‘
Der Gesundheitszustand der in Ungarn inhaftierten Maja T. soll sich nach SPIEGEL-Informationen massiv verschlechtert haben. Die Ärzte wollen offenbar eingreifen, weil T. Organschäden drohen.
‚Aktuellen Berichten zufolge wurde die antifaschistische Person Maja, die vor über einem Jahr rechtswidrig nach Ungarn ausgeliefert wurde und seitdem regelmäßiger Folter ausgesetzt ist, aufgrund ihres Hungerstreiks inzwischen in ein Haftkrankenhaus verlegt.
Es ist der 32 Tag des Hungerstreiks. Laut Unterstützer*innen wurden nun Augenbewegungsstörungen beobachtet, sodass von einem Eintritt in die „okuläre Phase“ des Hungerstreiks auszugehen ist (mehr Einzelheiten zu den Hungerphasen in unserem Post vom 25. Juni). Damit ist davon auszugehen, dass ein akut lebensbedrohlicher Zustand Majas erreicht ist.
Laut Berichten erklärten die Ärzt*innen des ungarischen Haftkrankenhauses, dass sie sich nicht an die Patient*innenverfügung Majas gebunden fühlen, die eine Zwangsernährung explizit ausschließe. Wir wollen dies im Folgenden einordnen:‘
"Uns erreichen besorgniserregende Nachrichten aus dem ungarischen Haftkrankenhaus, die wir selbst nicht weiter verifizieren oder konkretisieren können.
Maja hat heute, am 5. Juli 2025, in einem Telefonat mit der Familie von der Einschätzung der Ärzte des Haftkrankenhauses berichtet, in welchem Maja aktuell gefangen gehalten und betreut wird:
- Maja wiege nur noch 65 kg und habe damit ca. 13 kg abgenommen.
-Leber und Niere seien nicht mehr in bester Verfassung.
-Es liegen erniedrigte Werte von Eisen, Phosphor, Vitamin K (wichtig für Blutgerinnung) und Hormonen vor.
-Der Bilirubin-Wert (ein Farbstoff aus dem Abbau des roten Blutfarbstoffes, der über die Leber/Galle ausgeschieden wird) sei erhöht.
-Es liegen Wassereinlagerungen am Fuß vor.
-Es seien Augenzuckungen beobachtet worden.
Die behandelnden Ärzte erklärten außerdem, dass sie sich nicht an Majas Patientenverfügung und an Majas Ablehnung von Zwangsbehandlung gebunden fühlen. Sie würden handeln, wenn sich Majas Zustand verschlechtere, ohne Rücksicht auf Majas erklärten Willen......"
'28 Tage Hungerstreik – 1 Jahr Isolationshaft – Psychische Folter – Und die Aussicht auf 24 Jahre Knast!
All das erlebt Maja T. in einem unrechtmäßigen Verfahren in Ungarn – obwohl es keine Beweise für Majas Schuld gibt. Maja T. wird vorgeworfen, 2023 an einer Auseinandersetzung mit Faschisten beim „Tag der Ehre“ beteiligt gewesen zu sein. Der „Tag der Ehre“ ist ein europaweites Neonazi-Großevent, bei dem jedes Jahr im Februar SS und Wehrmacht gefeiert werden.
In einer durch das Bundesverfassungsgericht für rechtswidrig erklärten Aktion wurde Maja letztes Jahr nach #Ungarn verschleppt.
Dort sitzt Maja seitdem in Isolationshaft – eine Praxis, die psychische Folter ist. Maja hat nur wenige Stunden Sonnenlicht am Tag, die Zellen sind von Kakerlaken befallen und Maja erhält schimmliges Essen. Ohne Aussicht auf Besserung!
In Ungarn erwartet Maja, besonders als nonbinäre, queere Person, kein faires Verfahren und bis zu 24 Jahre Knast.
Wegen dieser Aussicht, dort über Jahrzehnte „lebendig begraben zu sein“ wie Maja es selbst sagt, hat Maja sich am 5. Juni entschieden, als letztes Mittel in den Hungerstreik zu gehen....'
Antifaschisten demonstrierten in Aachen für die Freilassung von Maja T. T. ist in Ungarn inhaftiert. Die Demonstranten sprachen sich gegen rechte Gewalt und die Repressionen aus.
Zwei Anklagen im #BudapestKomplex wegen versuchten Mordes „Eine politische Motivation“
"Der deutsche Staat stellt selbst Ungarn in den Schatten, wenn es um die Härte des Strafmaßes gegen Antifaschist:innen geht. Neben dem obligatorischen Paragrafen 129a und dem Vorwurf der „schweren Körperverletzung“ wird zwei Angeklagten sogar versuchter Mord unterstellt. Die Verteidiger:innen haben sich nun an die Öffentlichkeit gewandt und werfen dem Generalbundesanwalt vor, einen politischen Prozess zu führen.
Im Rahmen des Budapest-Komplexes wurden am 17. Juni diesen Jahres sechs weitere Antifaschist:innen durch den Generalbundesanwalt am Oberlandesgericht (OLG) in Düsseldorf angeklagt. Die Angeklagten hatten sich Anfang des Jahres – trotz einer drohenden Auslieferung nach Ungarn – freiwillig den Strafverfolgungsbehörden gestellt.
Doch neben dem Vorwurf der gefährlichen Körperverletzung – dessen bisher alle Angeklagten des Budapest-Verfahrens bezichtigt wurden – wird zwei Angeklagten gar versuchter Mord unterstellt. Zusätzlich wird ihnen im Rahmen des bekannten § 129a vorgeworfen, Teil einer linksextremen kriminellen Vereinigung zu sein...."
Auch in der BRD würde so verfahren. Der körperliche Einsatz macht so nur Sinn, bis die Aufmerksamkeit da ist. Eine Beendigung kann auch einen moralischen "Sieg" darstellen.

Maja T. war im Dezember 2023 in Berlin verhaftet worden. Ungarischen Behörden zufolge soll die Person im Februar 2023 gemeinsam mit weiteren Antifaschist:innen Angehörige der rechtsextremen Szene in Budapest angegriffen haben. Im Juni 2024 erfolgte die Auslieferung nach Ungarn – trotz eines noch laufenden Eilverfahrens vor dem Bundesverfassungsgericht. Dieses beurteilte die Auslieferung an Ungarn, wo einer nichtbinären Person entwürdigende und erniedrigende Haftbedingungen drohen, später als Verstoß gegen die EU-Grundrechtscharta.
T. befindet sich laut Unterstützer:innen in Isolation und fordert mit dem vor 26 Tagen begonnenen Hungerstreik unter anderem eine Unterbringung im Hausarrest...."

‚Für Paula, Emmi, Clara, Luca, Nele und Moritz ist es nun soweit: die Anklageschrift ist da. Das Ganze ist eine einzige Schweinerei, hier unsere Einordnungen dazu.
Wie den Medien bereits zu entnehmen war, ist ab jetzt, nicht wie angenommen Dresden oder Jena zuständig, sondern das OLG Düsseldorf. Nochmal zur Erinnerung: die meisten der sechs Beschuldigten kommen aus Leipzig und Jena, haben hier Freunde, Familie, gewohntes Umfeld.
Die Wahl des OLG Düsseldorfs ist eine klar politische. Man möchte es den Angehörigen und Freund:innen so schwer wie möglich machen, ihre Lieben im Knast zu besuchen und zu unterstützen. Für viele von ihnen bedeutet das ab jetzt mehr als 6 Stunden Fahrt für einen Besuch und dann wieder zurück. Wer das finanziell nicht hin bekommt, kann auf der Strecke bleiben.
Außerdem soll so die vor Ort stattfindende Soliarbeit unterbunden werden. Ein weiterer Schritt um die Gefangenen und ihre solidarischen Umfelder zu brechen und zu vereinzeln.
Es zeigt sich: der Budapest-Komplex wird einmal mehr zum ‚großen Schlag gegen die gefährlichen Linksextremen‘ hochstilisiert. Dazu können wir nur sagen, dass wir und die Angehörigen auch diesmal stärker sein werden als diese neue Hürde. Egal, was ihr uns in den Weg legt, wir lassen die Gefangenen nicht allein!‘

Maja T.: Hungerstreik, Haftkrankenhaus – und dann?
"Seit dem 5. Juni befindet sich Maja T. im Hungerstreik, um gegen die Haftbedingungen zu protestieren und die Rückkehr nach Deutschland zu erreichen. Nach 25 Tage hat sich der Gesundheitszustand offenbar so stark verschlechtert, dass die seit einem Jahr inhaftierte Deutsche am Dienstag (01. Juli) in ein Haftkrankenhaus an der rumänischen Grenze transportiert werden soll.
Nach Angaben des Vaters Wolfram Jarosch, der zu jedem Prozesstag nach Budapest reist, ist das Gefängnis 200 Kilometer von Budapest entfernt. Die gesundheitlichen Folgen sind nach seiner Einschätzung gravierend: starker Gewichtsverlust, zunehmende Müdigkeit, eingeschränkte Konzentrationsfähigkeit....."

Was haben sich die Verantwortlichen für die Abschiebung eigentlich gedacht?
Wohl nicht viel, eher viel zu wenig. Sonst wäre es zu dem was Maja T. erleiden muß nicht gekommen. Warum setzt sich keiner der Verantwortlichen für sie ein. Oder tut das jemand? .....

@diritschka "24 Jahre Haft bekommt bei uns nicht mal jemand für Mord mit besonderer Schwere der Schuld.": ja, das verstehe ich tatsächlich nicht. Und ich verstehe auch nicht, weshalb man sich für Maja T. so einsetzt und für andere nicht. Der Vorwurf von Körperverletzungsdelikten bei anderen würde anders gehandhabt werden. Mir wäre es lieber, wenn man sich für die Geiseln in Gaza so einsetzen würde. Vermutlich 5 Deutsche sind auch noch dort - wenn sie überhaupt noch leben ...

I'm beginning to understand some of the frustrations that people acquire when they start getting older.
I used to just soak up sciency stuff. Not that I understood very much, but I felt like I understood "enough" to get some benefit out of it.
Anymore though...it just doesn't register. It's just words. The words don't have meaning anymore. It's like reading a dictionary in a foreign language or something.
And it's frustrating as shit. I *used* to be smart.
I'm trying very hard not to blame the *world* for my inability to grasp seemingly simple concepts, but man, it's hard.
Of course, there are other factors at play. Some of this stuff I would have probably learned in school, had these things existed way back in the last century. I have heart disease which lends itself handily to brain-fog.

Hell, I don't feel like I'm much help to even myself, much less anyone else. I feel like I aged 10 years, with brain fog & low energy being at the top of the list of negative symptoms. And I've learned that, because my age is 59, it means my lung and heart capacity will consistently diminish ~5% each decade if I don't take active steps to stop it from happening. Roknrol, losing your ability to learn about new science seems significant. I hope you find a way to bring it back. Perhaps switching your "why" from your enthusiastic sense of wonder to finding out why your brain lost that ability, may serve to bring it back? I hope it does come back. I believe it's important.

@flowerpot My first "health" goal is to quit smoking. Unfortunately, without any sort of real support structure for my mental health, that has gone badly. Whenever I'm two days into quitting my depression spirals and...well...let's just say that the crisis lines have advised me to not quit smoking until that changes.
I do need to work on my cardio.
I've been helping neighbors with yard work and such as I'm able...I figure some exercise is better than none. Plus, I've got to maintain my house and yard here, so I'm getting a lot more exercise than when I'm in the US twiddling my thumbs.
I haven't played with my diet much...I'm so used to "fast food" or just heating something in the microwave that that's a whole 'nother burden I'm not ready to shoulder. I *do* eat healthier here, but only marginally.
The whole thing is a process...one that I'm trying to manage slowly, because "all at once" almost never works out for me.
@flowerpot I got Covid once, but "seemed" to recover from it ok. Unfortunately, the symptoms of long-covid are very similar to the symptoms of advanced heart disease, so I suspect regardless of the actual cause, that's probably a lot of what's going on. Until they find a way to clean the plaque out of my arteries and it becomes a cheap enough procedure for me to qualify, I'm pretty sure that's not going to change any time soon.

I've been on the fence since I've been trying Hyprland. What I want out of a window manager / DE is lots of window customization settings (borders, animations, etc.), & having configuration inside one file or one directory with hot-reloading (I'm switching from KDE since its config files all over the place). Hyprland is very popular among WM users with a large ecosystem, though I prefer stacking rather than tiling. I can make it work with some window rules, and shell scripts using hyprctl & jq.
I'm wondering how many little things I will need to fix / figure out. For instance, when I open the firefox bookmarks library with CTRL SHIFT O. When that window is open but not focused, and not on top, if I press CTRL SHIFT O again on a DE it comes back to the top, but not on Hyprland. I could probably find a fix for that?
I might be answering my own question but I really want to hear thoughts.
Yeah if you prefer stacking/floating windows definitely go for Wayfire or one of the others stacking/floating compositors. There's not much point in using a tiling compositor if you don't like the tiling.
I'm not a tiling guy, and the tabbed mode on sway seems to me like the best I've used. I believe it's a much better experience than stacking compositors by a lot. Having a tab bar, and everything maximized to it (except what I consider is better off floating) is the best I've experienced. Stacking mode is the same just that is uses too much space by stacking the tabs, so I really don't like stacking mode. So sway tabbed mode, in combination with a tiling concept of a workspace per particular objective (I use 10) and a simple bar (yamber) has no alternative on the stacking spectrum of compositors.
BTW, if going with a stacking compositor, I recommend labwc instead. I found a smoother and way more stable experience than wayfire (some functionality stops working often like sunset functionality, and usually way behind on wlroots support, not a take on wayfire devs, just that I find it more unstable than labwc).
Of course I'm biased towards less eye candy, though I still appreciate the equivalent to basic picom/compton on the Xorg world, which is the norm on any wayland compositor AFAIK.
Sway is definitely great for tabs. I tried it on Hyprland for a while and mixing tiling + tabs was horrendous, it was such a hassle to use that I just stopped trying to use tabs inside tiles after a while. I even tried the hy3 plugin to make Hyprland behave like i3 including tabs and it was better, but there were very annoying bugs... Tabs are the only bad thing I have to say about Hyprland though, otherwise it's a great compositor. If you like dynamic tiling, obviously. Maybe the tabs have been improved since then, it was a year ago and I haven't been following the updates since I switched back to Sway.
I don't know if there are stacking compositors that allow you to tab windows together like Haiku does, maybe that would be closest to what op looks for since they prefer stacking?

1st turnoff for me was the creator added this anime background which overwrote whatever background you had. I found the file and wrote a hook to automatically delete it on update reverting to mt background, only to find that there was a condig option to do the same thing
2nd The maintainer is a bigot and I won't support bigotted projects when there are other (better) options like sway which I know use.
TLDR: Creator violates Wheatons Law. I don't like that.
There's an option in the config to replace the default anime background by a more sober one with the hyprland logo (wish I had know that BEFORE doing a presentation on a large second screen for the first time and realizing that hyprpaper kept my custom background on my workspaces but defaulted to the anime wallpaper on the second screen because in hyprpaper backgrounds are configured per screen 😂 ). And no matter whether you use that option or not, it shouldn't overwrite the background you choose. It's displayed only if you don't have any background configured. Otherwise it's either a bug or misconfiguration in hyprpaper.
Definitely not going to defend the dev on the other stuff.

in reply to LandedGentry • • •Well, at least the base model Xbox Ally has essentially the same SoC as the Steam Deck. The Z2 A has 4 Zen 2 cores and 8 RDNA 2 CUs. It will be configurable up to 20 watts TDP instead of 15 on the Deck, but that's it. So much for "long in the tooth technology wise".
Sure, the Z2 Extreme variant will be more powerful, but it'll also be in a different price category (800-900,-€).
And in terms of user-friendliness: the Xbox Ally will run Windows. It won't launch into the regular desktop shell (by default), and it won't have as many services running in the background which might help with performance and battery life, and you'll probably be able to update drivers and Windows through it. Maybe it will have some preconfigured scripts/shortcuts to install Steam, Battle.net etc. But that's it. Expect to fall back to the desktop mode (or open a browser, terminal and Explorer window in the new gaming mode) for anything more advanced like installing emulators.
In terms of pick up and play this won't be much different to the Steam Deck, with the one exception being Game Pass - but even then don't expect any of the more demanding titles to run well.

The DS had a seven-year lifespan and the original Switch had eight. Even living room console have an average near decade long lifespan. So, of course Valve isn’t going to throw their money into a second generation.
