En effet, on peut tout bien produire. Dans l'industrie, de la viande... ou du légume, le plus préjudiciable est certainement le process. Je ne mange pas certains produits. Par dégoût du mode de production et donc du résultat obtenu.
Le problème est bien plus large que le manque d'empathie pour l'animal. Faut rester vigilant, curieux, et se méfier de tous les discours simplistes. Après chacun fait ce qu'il peut.
L'esclavage n'a jamais été un discours simpliste. Les animaux ressentent la joie, la peur, l'ennui, la souffrance, le stress, etc tout comme nous. On veut vivre une vie sans souffrance tout en la refusant aux autres espèces, nos voisins sur cette planète.
Le discours simpliste de cette asso consiste à mettre tout dans le même sac, sans distinction entre les pratiques. Mais je suis conscient que c'est stratégiquement voulu.

L'antispéciste est à l'espèce ce que le racisme est à la race ou le sexisme au sexe. Les racistes violent le principe d’égalité en donnant un plus grand poids aux intérêts des membres de leur propre race quand un conflit existe entre ces intérêts et ceux de membres d’une autre race. Les sexistes violent le principe d’égalité en privilégiant les intérêts des membres de leur propre sexe. De la même façon, les spécistes permettent aux intérêts des membres de leur propre espèce de prévaloir sur des intérêts supérieurs des membres des autres espèces. Le schéma de discrimination est le même dans chaque cas. Il n’y a aucune raison, hormis le plaisir égoïste de préserver les privilèges du groupe exploiteur, de refuser d’étendre le principe fondamental d’égalité de considération aux membres des autres espèces. La capacité à souffrir est le seul critère valable pour un principe d’égalité de considération. Si un être souffre, il ne peut y avoir aucune justification morale pour refuser de prendre en considération cette souffrance. Fixer cette limite selon une autre caractéristique comme la force, l’intelligence, la rationalité serait la fixer de façon arbitraire comme choisir comme critère le sexe ou la race.

Largement masqué, il est vrai, par des pratiques capitalistes honteuses, une autre réalité. Le nier est soit malhonnête soit lié à une méconnaissance de ce type d'élevage, soit le fruit d'une croyance, ou une conviction profonde si tu préfères.
On peut bien sûr argumenter rationnellement sur ces réalités pendant des heures. Le cœur du blocage est finalement convictionnel. Un peu comme avec certains cathos à propos de l'avortement et de l'euthanasie. La réponse est radicale et intrasigeante. Çà tue le débat dans l'oeuf. Y'a pas vraiment d'issue envisageable hormis la conversion.

Not sure if blows were exchanged or what, seems like he ran off and maybe got chased by a few people looking for more. Half a dozen #LAPD appears to have intervened and are protecting the guy, but they're drawing a crowd.
ABC7 is reporting that a dispersal order has been given, and definitely a lot more nose-to-nose contact between protesters and #LAPD, but not in front of the detention center itself, where the CA National Guard are.
The Al Rojo Vivo camera crew ended up behind the riot line with a few people repeating chants and got sprinted on, very aggressive (and effective) dispersal. Someone yelled "scatter!" which would have been a slapstick moment if not for the fact that, you know, armored and quite armed police officers were sprinting at them.
Starting to hear pops. Tear gas may have been deployed, but if so not much of it.
KCAL reporter last night explained that those yellow rings are a crowd control device. Basically portable terrain. Didn't get the "you buy it from your defensecorp shithead^H^H^Wsalesperson" name for it, but the #LAPD apparently calls them slinkies. Would love to know the formal name if anyone knows it.
Dudes hanging off the truck and others uniformed like them are Sherriff's deputies. LAPD themselves are in all-black riot gear. I don't know if the perimeter in the top are CA National Guard broadening their own perimeter. It would be the right time for that, so yea, maybe.
The National Guard's part of this is basically done, now. Their orders are to protect federal property, that's where the federal government's authority ends according to whatever is left of the flesh of federalist democracy in the US.

The LA County Sherriff's office showed up as extra cop muscle late last night. I'm sure plenty of them are looking forward to getting to fire on the crowd, especially as the #LAPD are still the bulk of the fighting force. So the LASD can run overwatch.

I guess the deployable terrain is LA County Sherrif's toy, it's exclusively under their control it seems. Wonder if they got that under the 1033 Program¹?

Speaking of the 1033 Program, LA County Sherrif's office brought what I believe is an LRAD, a sonic cannon that will absolutely permanently damage the hearing of people in the crowd if and when it is used.
I can't pay attention to what's going on and research this any more, but it looks like LA County Sherrif's Department does own LRADs, at any rate. This one looks different but not *that* different.

During the 2020 protests, police have used an LRAD sonic weapon to disperse protesters. What is it, how does it work, and how can you protect your ears?
But it's worth mentioning that in addition to suppressing civilian populations, the LRAD is also well-loved among the naval warfare community. It is excellent for pointing at a boat with would be raiders/bombers/etc. and making them *really* want to not be going where your cannon is pointed from.
If you've never seen videos of these devices used to repel pirates, it gives you a good sense of their efficacy.
The really scary thing to me about the 1033 Program is that LRAD is nowhere near as bad as it gets.
I believe that the Area Denial System (ADS) has not yet been sold to US Sherrif's departments, but… not for lack of trying. It is a high-power (100 kW) microwave gun. You point it at people and their skin starts heating up.
