A chemical leak occurred at a powder plant in Ohio, releasing around 3,000 gallons of nitric acid. The leak caused a plume of nitric oxide, which is toxic when inhaled or absorbed into the skin.

Residents of the nearby village of Zaleski were evacuated due to the potential health risks. The situation is expected to last for a few hours and is dependent on wind conditions.

On June 3, Israeli forces again opened fire on civilians seeking aid, reportedly killing at least 27 people.
The US/Israeli-backed GHF temporarily suspended operations after this spate of mass shootings.
On June 8, Israeli forces again fired upon civilians seeking aid at two separate distribution points in Gaza, killing twelve.
On June 9, Israel and Israeli-backed forces opened fire on a crowd at an aid site in Gaza, killing 14.
And on June 10, at least 36 people were reported killed and 208 wounded when Israeli forces again fired on crowds seeking aid in Gaza.
Since May 27, some 160 people have reportedly been killed in massacres at these GHF sites, which people in Gaza are reportedly beginning to refer to as a “death trap”.

I get the impression that a lot of people in the west fundamentally fail to understand what the purpose of an economy actually is.

So, I'll do a short 🧵 on the topic.

An economy is a model for allocating labour and resources in a way that meets the needs of the people in the country.

The original argument for capitalism was that market economy with private ownership is the most effective way to allocate labour and resources in a way that benefits everyone.

A rare type of cancer is growing among millennials and members of Generation X, new research shows.

Diagnoses of appendix cancer have tripled in the US for people born between 1976 and 1984 — and it has quadrupled for those born between 1981 and 1989.

The study was published on Monday in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Researchers from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center analyzed data from the National Cancer Institute’s Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program to arrive at these findings.

« Après des années d’occupation croisée de Jérusalem, le commandant musulman Salah ad-Din Al-Ayyoubi [connu sous le nom de #Saladin en Occident] entra dans la ville en #1187 après la bataille de Hattin, et la libéra des croisés qui s’en étaient emparés et y avaient commis des massacres sanglants. Salah ad-Din rendit la ville à ses habitants, autorisa les chrétiens à y rester, restaura la mosquée #Al-Aqsa et rénova le Dôme du Rocher. #Jérusalem redevint alors partie intégrante du monde musulman et resta sous domination ayyoubide, puis mamelouke, avant d’être gouvernée pendant près de quatre siècles par les #Ottomans, durant lesquels musulmans, chrétiens et juifs y vivaient dans une relative paix.

À la fin de la Première Guerre mondiale, l’Empire ottoman s’effondra, et la #Palestine tomba sous mandat britannique en #1917. Cette même année, la #Grande-Bretagne publia la Déclaration #Balfour promettant l’établissement d’un « foyer national pour le peuple juif » en Palestine, alors que la population majoritaire du pays était composée d’Arabes palestiniens. Dès lors, le projet sioniste, préparé depuis la fin du XIXe siècle, se mit concrètement en marche. La Grande-Bretagne facilita l’immigration juive, permit l’achat de terres par des moyens détournés, et aida à la formation de milices armées telles que la #Haganah et le groupe #Stern, tout en interdisant aux Arabes de s’armer et en réprimant violemment toute résistance palestinienne.

Le déséquilibre démographique s’installa par la force. Plusieurs révoltes palestiniennes éclatèrent, la plus importante étant la Grande Révolte de #1936, durement réprimée. Puis survint la #Nakba en 1948, quand les milices sionistes, avec l’appui de l’Occident, proclamèrent l’État d’ #Israël, entraînant l’expulsion de plus de 750 000 Palestiniens de leurs villages et villes, dans des #massacres horribles tels que celui de Deir Yassin. La Palestine fut ainsi volée, transformée en un État colonial soutenu militairement, économiquement et diplomatiquement par les grandes puissances.

Dès lors, les #États-Unis devinrent le principal protecteur d’Israël, lui apportant un soutien inconditionnel, notamment par l’usage du droit de veto à l’ #ONU pour bloquer toute résolution condamnant les crimes israéliens ou appelant à la fin de l’occupation. Israël poursuivit ses politiques de #colonisation, construisit un mur de séparation, et annexa Jérusalem-Est en 1967, en violation du droit international.

Pour assurer la sécurité d’Israël, les puissances dominantes ne se contentèrent pas de le soutenir, mais mirent en œuvre la destruction systématique des pays arabes puissants de la région. L’ #Irak fut envahi et détruit en 2003 sous un prétexte mensonger. La #Libye fut désintégrée après l’intervention de l’ #OTAN en 2011. La #Syrie fut plongée dans une guerre sanglante. Le #Soudan fut divisé. Le #Yémen s’effondra sous une guerre dévastatrice. Quant à l’ #Égypte et les États du Golfe, ils furent soumis à une pression économique et politique constante, les rendant incapables de résister aux volontés occidentales. It's time for the governor and legislature of California to declare independence from the United States. He should take back the California national guard and order them to seize federal buildings. It’s worth mentioning that the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty in #1967 that resulted in 34 US Navy dead and 171 wounded also took place on 8 June .. It maybe possible that on that special day the Israelis morphe from being genocidal into sea pirates.

Imaginez qu'une eurodéputée française soit arrêtée illégalement et victime d'actes de maltraitance qui s'apparentent à de la torture par un État officiellement «allié» de la France ? Il y aurait des sanctions immédiates et une crise diplomatique. Ici, les autorités françaises n'interviennent pas, voire justifient le sort de cette élue. C'est sans doute du jamais vu, et cela illustre l' #impunité absolue dont bénéficie l'État d' #Israël : c'est bien la situation que nous avons sous nos yeux.

On apprend ce mercredi que Rima Hassan a été placée à l'isolement dans des conditions difficiles à la prison pour femmes de Neve Tirza, près de la ville israélienne de Ramla. Le militant brésilien Thiago Avila a subi le même sort. Ils ont été placés dans des prisons séparées.

L'eurodéputée aurait été punie pour avoir écrit «Free Palestine» sur un mur de sa prison, et est actuellement en grève de la faim. Elle a été transférée dans une petite cellule sans fenêtre, dans des conditions extrêmement précaires, sans accès à la cour de la prison. Les autorités israéliennes la maintiennent enfermée depuis plus de 3 jours, de façon totalement illégale, parce qu'elle a refusé, comme la plupart de ses camarades, de signer un document stipulant que l'opération humanitaire à laquelle elle participait était «illégale», mais aussi un engagement à ne plus fouler le sol Israélien pour une durée de 100 ans.

La violence symbolique est immense : Israël massacre le peuple de Rima Hassan, l'arrête pour une action non violente, veut l'obliger à ne plus jamais fouler le sol de son propre pays, spolié par la colonisation, et l'incarcère dans des conditions très dures. Mais son cas n'est malheureusement pas isolé : si Israël fait subir un tel sort à une élue franco-palestinienne très médiatisée, imaginez le sort réservé aux dizaines de milliers de Palestiniens anonymes, enfermés dans les geôles coloniales sans droit à la défense.

Ce n'est pas tout. Le journaliste d’Al-Jazeera, Omar Faiad, qui se trouvait sur la flottille de la liberté et qui vient d’être libéré, rapporte que les autorités israéliennes ont menacé Rima Hassan. Un agent lui a dit : «Si tu ne signes pas le papier, je te cogne la tête contre le mur». Greta Thunberg témoigne également : «Ils ont prévu de leur rendre les choses difficiles,ils n’ont pas accès à un avocat» au sujet de Rima et des français encore détenus.

Un médecin français, Baptiste André, autre membre de la flottille expulsé vers la France, explique aux médias que les détenus ont subi des privations délibérées de sommeil , d’eau, de nourriture, et des humiliations, avec de la musique à fond et une impossibilité d’aller aux toilettes. Ces pratiques s'apparentent à de la «torture blanche», utilisées pour faire craquer psychologiquement des détenus.

Un tribunal israélien a prononcé des «ordres de détention» des huit militant-es ayant refusé de signer le document jusqu’à une prochaine audience fixée au 8 juillet. Donc dans près d'un mois ! Il s'agit sans doute d'un nouveau coup de pression. L'ONG israélienne Adalah, qui appuie les prisonnier-es de la Flottille pour la Liberté au tribunal explique que les militant-es pourraient être renvoyé-es dans leur pays cette semaine, peut-être demain, par une procédure d'expulsion forcée. En attendant, 8 personnes restent enfermées : quatre Français, une Allemande, un Turc, un Néerlandais et un Brésilien.

Que fait le gouvernement français ? Non seulement il ne fait pas pression pour défendre les droits de ses ressortissants, mais il valide les agissements d'Israël. François Bayrou a déclaré ce 11 juin à l'Assemblée : «Les six Français se sont vus offrir le choix de rentrer dans notre pays à l’instant et un certain nombre d’entre eux l’ont refusé. Je trouve inacceptable que l’on instrumentalise les choses de cette manière».

La macroniste Prisca Thevenot a écrit : «La flottille n’est pas un projet humanitaire mais une opération de communication qui ne sert finalement qu’une chose : le Hamas». Et sur LCI, la chaine du milliardaire Martin Bouygues qui sponsorise le fils Sarkozy, la mythomane Caroline Fourest accuse également les membres de la flottille de travailler pour le Hamas.
C'est donc un acharnement collectif contre des personnes courageuses, enfermées, qui ne peuvent pas se défendre. Le complotisme, la lâcheté et le mensonge au service du #génocide. "
