macOS 26 Tahoe will be the last version of macOS for Intel powered Apple Macintosh computers.

Intel Macs make fabulous Linux machines! If you have an Intel Mac, there's options. All is not lost.

Between the excellent build quality and the fantastic displays I'd even suggest that Macs are a superior, non-obvious choice for picking up a used machine for experimenting with Linux. I've used Minis for Linux containerization nodes in the home lab in the past as well.

Be careful though, make sure the hardware spec matches the price. Lots of uninformed (delusional?) Mac zealots out there think their 5-10 year old Mac is worth way more than the hardware spec would imply. Paying a 5-10% premium for the better build quality on an iMac or lappie in the used market is worth it in my opinion. For the Mini, not so much.

I wouldn't spend money on Apple hardware to put Linux on... but a lot of it will come up for free when something minor goes wrong with it.

The A1278 is my favorite MacBook laptop.

I have installed Linux on that laptop for quite a few customers (other models, too, of course).

The US intelligence community assesses that Israel’s bombing campaign on Iran has set back its nuclear work back by about five to six months, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

Israel has been bombing Iran for five days, including striking the Natanz nuclear plant and other facilities.

The Wall Street Journal report said US officials believe Iran’s efforts could be delayed further if strikes continue.

Can/should I just use a networked folder as a duplicati backup destination?

Stumbling through getting a proper backup regime in place. I have an unraid system running a proper array, and am trying to setup backups for two separate machines (one windows one debian). I've successfully setup a file share, and have duplicati running. Are there disadvantages to just setting the network folder as the destination for the backup? It seems a little hamfisted (and the data rates are terrible).

It seems like there's probably a better way to do this...

Or maybe something akin to the "Green Book" that Blacks in the United States produced during the 1950s and 1960s to show which establishments in which cities were "safe spaces" when traveling? Not saying an actual book today but maybe an app on the phone maybe? Listing trans-safe bathrooms when out in public? Until the law can be changed maybe something like that can help.

But to “finish the job”, presumably a regime change in Iran, Israel needs the U.S. Which pretext is #Netanyahu going to come up with next?

Clearly, the #US and #Israel share intelligence on #Iran's nuclear program. Israel, or #Netanyahu rather, has been claiming for years that Iran is rapidly approaching nuclear weapon capability, requiring immediate action. The US intelligence assessments though have concluded that Iran is not actively pursuing a nuclear weapon.

For the record. The ghost of Colin Powell's UN presentation... in a way.

On February 5, 2003, Colin Powell stood before the UN Security Council with maps, photos, and intercepted communications, declaring these were "facts and conclusions based on solid intelligence" proving Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program. Six weeks later, the Iraq invasion began based on this testimony. No WMDs were ever found, and Powell later admitted his speech was a "great intelligence failure" and permanent "blot" on his record. Twenty-one years later, Israel deploys strikingly similar rhetoric about Iran's "nuclear threat" to justify its strikes - same manufactured urgency, same unverified claims, same predictable script for war.
