IRC started in 1988 when Jarkko Oikarinen created a real-time chat protocol 🌐 It soon grew into major networks like EFnet (1990) and Undernet (1992), shaping online communities long before social media.

Here's a May 1993 memo by J. Oikarinen and D. Reed about IRC protocol that defines an Experimental Protocol for the Internet community: archive.org/details/rfc1459

How does a remote desktop work? Essentially, it mirrors the contents of one PC onto the display of another PC, either through a dedicated app, a web browser, or the native capabilities of your operating system. There are two primary protocols: RDP, or Remote Desktop Protocol, and VNC, or Virtual Network Computing.

Let's start with KasmVNC. It's open source, free of charge, and you can download the server component from their GitHub page. It's packaged for various Linux distributions including Alpine Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Kali Linux, or Oracle Linux, all for ARM or x86 CPUs. It doesn’t have a server component for Windows or macOS though, so it’s Linux only.

Once the server component is installed on the PC you want to remote into, you'll need to use the command line. Simply run 'vncserver', and you'll be prompted to create a user that you’ll use to login to your remote desktop.

Then, add your user to the ssl-cert group with the command displayed in your terminal.

Then go to your client PC, open a web browser, type the IP address of the server followed by the port number indicated when you ran the 'vncserver' command.

You'll be asked to enter your login and password for the user you created, then you're in. You'll get a nice sidebar with options to tailor performance, frame rate, compression, and more. And if you want to really get into the details, there’s a YAML configuration file you can edit either in /etc/kasmvnc, or you can have your own config file for your user in .vnc.

If you want to remote into a Linux PC, most desktop environments have settings that let you enable remote desktop. In GNOME, for example, you go to the sharing page, then 'remote desktop', and enable remote control. KDE has the 'krfb' app that allows you to share your desktop.
On the client side, all you need is either an RDP or VNC client. The 'Connections' app in GNOME and 'KRDC' in KDE are probably the best integrated apps, or you can use 'Remmina'.

"If you want to remote into a Windows PC, your best bet is the in-built Remote Desktop Protocol or RDP. To enable it on Windows 11 Pro (home doesn't support it), simply open the Settings app, click 'System', then 'Remote Desktop', and toggle it on. A pop-up will ask for confirmation, just click 'Confirm', and voila - you're done with the server-side setup.

On the client, you'll need an RDP client. For Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, you have Microsoft's Remote Desktop app. And for Linux users, there's Remmina - a free, open source tool available on any distro through Flathub.

If your server is a Mac, the process is quite similar. First, open System Settings, navigate to General, and then to the 'Sharing' page. Here, enable 'Remote Management'.

Next up, you need a VNC client on the client PC. Just input the IP address and the username of your Mac's user. However, one thing to keep in mind is that performance can vary. Since the resolution on Macs can be quite high, you might find it's not as fast as you'd like.

Some virtual machine clients can let you remote into a VM, for example, in Virtualbox, you have a remote display tab in the “display settings” of your VM. Now to make sure this works, you’ll need to install the Virtualbox Extension pack, which you can download for free from Virtualbox’s website.

Then, in Virtualbox, you can click the tools tab, the the little list button, and then extensions. Here, click install, then select the extension pack, and you’re done. Now you can enable remote display in the VML’s Display settings.

I think progressives never thought about this because we banked on immigration and demographic change allowing us to win culturally and electorally but the issue is immigrants tend to be overwhelmingly male, that is how Trump won actually he won over a lot of Hispanic,Black,Asian and indigenous men who feel humiliated by a new culture, economy and world.

Also, cars are dangerous AF. Tens of thousands of people die a year because of them. Hence why we have licenses and maintenance rules and an unbelievably extensive road system with clear signals and lights.


And despite all these rules, the number of car deaths is much greater then any other cause of death. It's not a lack of rules that are the problem with cars (nor guns).

Officiellement, bien entendu, il y a les gentils de gauche, d'un côté, attachés à la "sociale", et les méchants de droite, individualistes qui défendent le profit. Bien sûr ! Ce clivage binaire, même s'il a perdu de sa superbe ses dernières années, a gardé des accents de vérité auprès de nombreux gogos qui continuent à croire au théâtre d'ombre que la caste projette sur le débat public pour hypnotiser et manipuler le petit peuple. Tout le problème est que, à force d'entre-soi et d'endogamie, les acteurs de ce théâtre peinent de plus en plus à faire illusion.

Dans cette imagerie pâlissante d’Épinal, le jeu des Ferracci paraît de plus en plus emblématique de ce que notre République compte de moribond, de malsain, de "pourri" au sens shakespearien du terme. Non que l'on trouve ici, de façon manifeste, des inégalités qui justifieraient des procès. Mais c'est la privatisation assumée de l'intérêt général qui, ici, dégoûte. Cette façon très parvenue de nous prendre pour des idiots, et de nous faire croire que nous devrions être dupes du jeu qui se joue.

Acte I : l'enrichissement de Pierre Ferracci

Initialement, il était un petit Pierre Ferracci, né en 1952, héritier de la résistance communiste corse. Sa seule évocation donne envie de pleurer (et nous passerons ici sur les nombreux faits d'arme politiques et sociaux du personnage). Fils de la plus grande figure de la résistance communiste corse (je renvoie ici chacun à sa compréhension de l'expression...), le petit Pierre s'enrichit dans l'expertise comptable et le conseil aux entreprises tels qu'ils peuvent être conçus en Corse.

Autrement dit, Pierre Ferracci crée le groupe Alpha et le groupe Secafi pour conseiller ses amis communistes et, au premier chef, ses amis de la CGT. Quand un plan social se dessine à l'horizon, le délégué CGT a l'habitude d'appeler Secafi et Alpha pour acheter une expertise qui permet de négocier de bonnes "mesures d'accompagnement" face aux patrons. Vu les chiffres de la désindustrialisation en France depuis 40 ans, le marché est très porteur.

Il explique que, selon les déclarations officielles, le groupe soit valorisé à environ 75 millions € (chiffre probablement sous-estimé).

Acte II : les Ferracci, ou comment parvenir ?

Dans cette formidable ascension directement due au déclin économique français depuis 1975, les Ferracci vont devenir l'un des meilleurs symboles des parvenus post-soixante-huitards.

Il y a notamment l'affaire de la villa corse de Pierre, dont son fils Marc est actionnaire (nous allons y revenir). Mais il y a aussi l'achat du Paris Football Club, revendu en début d'année à la famille Arnault, comme nous l'avons signalé. Dans le microcosme parisien, Pierre n'est plus seulement un habile marchand qui s'est enrichi grâce à la CGT. Il devient une figure politique et sociale qui compte et qui impressionne.

Parmi les éléments de sa puissance, on trouve son fils Marc, énarque, témoin de mariage de Macron, député marcheur, puis ministre de l'Industrie. Nous avons largement détaillé ses affaires patrimoniales dans notre papier dédié. Il incarne le capitalisme de connivence contemporain : entre sa carrière public et son enrichissement personnel, il est à peu près impossible de faire le distingo.

Acte III : de la CGT au macronisme, il n'y a qu'un pas

Dans cet ensemble, une question se pose : celle de la distance qui sépare l'apparence contestataire de la CGT, et sa réalité "systémique".

D'un côté, il y a les discours "grandes gueules" dénonçant les profits du grand capital, et autres éléments de langage controuvés. La retraite à 60 ans, les acquis sociaux, les nouveaux droits, les nouvelles protections, etc.

D'un autre côté, il y a une réalité plus confondante : ceux qui ont accompagné les plans sociaux sous l'étiquette CGT depuis quarante ans, ont gagné beaucoup d'argent. Jusqu'à, par exemple, bâtir des villas de rêve en Corse, sous l'étiquette SCI Tour de Sponsaglia, au coeur d'une série judiciaire digne de Netflix. Reste que l'ensemble construit approche les 1.000 mètres carré habitables, que la Cour de Cassation n'aurait pas refusé de démolir.

Et c'est bien cela qui gêne dans le capitalisme de connivence macroniste : les chouchous du régime obtiennent un régime de faveur qui pose de sérieuses questions.

Acte IV : combien gagnent les Ferracci au ministère de l'Industrie

Cette question, je la pose directement en reprenant (mais ce n'est qu'un premier épisode) les éléments patrimoniaux de Marc Ferracci, fils de Pierre. Aujourd'hui, le ministre de l'Industrie en France, que nous pourrions aussi rebaptiser ministre des plans sociaux, est actionnaire à 35% d'un groupe spécialisé dans les entreprises en difficulté...

Autrement dit, lorsqu'un patron d'usine écrit à Bercy pour dire "je suis en difficulté", "j'envisage de fermer mon site en France", "je sollicite votre aide pour sauver mon entreprise", c'est un ministre actionnaire d'un cabinet de conseils aux entreprises en difficulté qui répond. Certes, nous voulons bien prêter au ministre le crédit de la bonne foi. Mais enfin, combien de temps peut-il faire croire que Marc Ferracci actionnaire d'Alpha et de Secafi est complètement sourd aux appels de Marc Ferracci sollicité, en tant que ministre, par des entreprises qui cherchent à éviter la faillite ?

Concrètement, sommes-nous sûrs que le sauvetage des entreprises en France n'est pas confié à une famille qui prélève sa "dîme" sur la moindre intervention de l'Etat ? Personne ne peut l'affirmer, mais le seul fait que la question se pose est un vrai sujet aujourd'hui.
