Sorry for being later than I thought, I'm having a pretty stressful time lately.
I disagree with the judgement thing, while we obviously don't have full context for Iran's circumstances, I still think we should always challenge and judge power as much as possible to try and always push humanity further towards harmonious living and aiding each other, no matter where they live.
The sanctions point is fair, but I think counting on Oil for Iran's economy was a bad move, which could have been in my opinion at least partly caused by the religious influence, if you want I can elaborate.
Finally, the article (because of the sanctions I'il take it not being recent): It does seem like a mixed bag (I tried my best to ignore the neolib bullshit, but please correct me if some slipped in), while the poverty rates have developed positively, I do think the inequality they mentioned between ages (in employment) and sexes (hopefully don't have to elaborate) is a bad indicator for future development (not just economically, but also in society), so more nouanced than I was, my bad.
Also, is the poverty rate indicator static? I feel like that should be adjusted over time.
The last paragraph I just agree with.

Why is U2 considered "grunge?"

Growing up, I didn't really question why this band would be played along side Nirvana, Bush, Soundgarden, Linkin Park, etc. because my radio station of choice was not just grunge, but also "adult alternative." So it would play pop shit, too, sometimes.

But I still, to this day, often find U2 listed among grunge artists, or their songs get played on grunge playlists. The fuck? How is this shit grunge? It doesn't fit in any way! It doesn't have the sound, it doesn't have the style, shit it doesn't even have the same emotional resonance. It's happy and hopeful.

gpu is probably the easiest. only two choices and just get the best you can afford while using +60% of your whole pc budget.

cpu and motherboard is much harder. i would recommend a AMD Ryzen 9000 series X3D CPU that fits in a Zen 5 motherboard because they have a very long life cycle (at least zen 4 did) unlike Intel so you can upgrade the CPU in +5 years without changing the motherbord.

this would be my non final first recommendation. 6600 is more than double the performance. you could reduce to 16GB ram but DDR4 is so cheap and windows is bloated. also maybe cheaper case.

Honestly maybe check around and see if you can get a 6700xt used for a decent price. the 12GB is probably going to go a long way.
Though maybe the 580 is the play for now and then you can just upgrade the gpu at a later date for a 9060xt and call it a day, I don't think the 5800X is going to bottleneck a 9060xt anyways.

You should probably take this as a good time to go through all the credentials in your password-manager and remove every account that you have no actual use for (this IS important for your security) and then change the password/passphrase (or whatever else you use) for all accounts that remain after that pruning.

Hint: Any good password-manager will let you sort the entries by when they were latest modified, so do that, then start updating at the one modified longest ago making it now the most recently modified and keep going until the one you modified first as part of this process is the longest ago modified again – done.

[QUESTION] Cutting Board Recommendations (Machine Washable, No Microplastics)

Hi all! We'd like to stop using our plastic cutting boards due to cutting little bits of plastic into our food. Unfortunately, the most obvious alternative, wooden cutting boards, are more of a pain to clean.

I'd love suggestions on what I could use instead. I saw there's a brand called Epicurean that uses some sort of other material that can be machine washed. Has anyone used them before?

I'd especially love something made in Germany or in the EU, but I'm open to looking farther afield if necessary.

I just had to do a power reset on a ThinkPad T490s laptop.

It was not turning on with just battery and not being plugged in with the power adapter. It would turn on if I plugged the charger in. The battery had a charge.

I took the back plate off, disconnected the battery. Held the hidden power reset button in for thirty seconds, then held the power button down for thirty seconds. Plugged the internal battery back in.

Now it turns on when power button is pressed while not plugged into a charger.
