Suggestions for crowdsec + caddy + docker setup

Hi all!

I'll try to be quick but I apologise first as I am pretty new to security stuff and my questions might be obvious to the more experts.

I have a VPS (hetzner) set up with docker, caddy for the reverse proxy, and authentik as the only login method for a couple of services (hedgedoc and forgejo). Since most of these has to be available and accessible on the internet, I also setup crowdsec and built caddy with the relevant bouncer. This allows crowdsec to inspect the caddy logs for all the services I am serving through it and act accordingly. Edit: all the services are in docker containers.

So far, so good. However, I also saw that crowdsec can directly monitor container logs with the docker integration or through container labels. Also, I saw a couple of collections on crowdsec hub specifically for Authentik and Gitea.

I feel I am missing something so my question are:

  1. Would it be useful to monitor container logs given my setup or would it be redundant?
  2. Should I add the app-specific collections, or would docker logs monitoring be enough?

::: spoiler My current crowdsec collections

It seems the same, except Iran has been funding terrorism and supporting families of terrorists for years, decades. No secret. They'd happily nuke any country in the world for their god when they can. The threat is actually real. Iraq believed in waging jihad too, they only differed in their methods of accomplishing it, not their goals. The real problem is not recognizing that its Islamic doctrine and teachings behind these Islamic countries that make them impossible to have peace with. Thomas Jefferson learned it and wrote about it early in US History. Modern leaders mistake Islam for just a religion, but it's much more than that. It means to conquer the whole world, and it doesn't care how it's done, violence, stealth, or deceit. It uses everything it can, and keeps coming. Gaza's residents are perhaps the fiercest Muslims committed to this belief. No other Muslim country wants to take them for their dedication to it.

Never really noticed before until now because until now I was more caught up in the #story but this morning I'm just looking to kill some time, kick back, and relax a little.

And I can't stop noticing all the damn product placements for Sony products! Frankly they're distracting.

As expected, amid the war with #Iran, settler violence and criminal activity are escalating. Northeast of #Ramallah, #settlers are accelerating their land grabs through the establishment of new outposts, roadblocks, arson attacks on fields, and the uprooting of trees - all under the protection of the army and in line with official government policy. Land is being looted in broad daylight, while the state turns a blind eye.

After settlers, with the help of the army, succeeded in expelling most of the Palestinian shepherd communities and clusters from the east and northeast of Ramallah, in the last few days they have accelerated the seizure of agricultural land belonging to the residents of the villages of Al Mughair and Duma all while attention is focused on the events with Iran.

Over the past two weeks, two new outposts have been established at the entrances to the villages of Al Mughair and Duma. In Al Mughair, the outpost was set up along the eastern access road, which the army blocked immediately after the outbreak of the war. In Duma, the new outpost now controls the village's only remaining access road, after the settlers and the army blocked the other two. Back in July 2023, we published a post about a checkpoint that was placed east of the village of Al Mughair, warning that its purpose was to prevent landowners from accessing their lands that are located east of the village - paving the way for settlers to seize them. Unfortunately, we were right. Link to the post from July 2023 is in the comments.

As far as we understand, these two new outposts are essentially extensions of the main outpost established in the area about a decade ago inside an abandoned military base, known as "Malachei Hashalom". This outpost is one out of ten outposts that the racist and corrupt Israeli government decided to "legalize" on February 12, 2023. Link to the government decision in the comments.
The outpost of Malachei Hashalom serves as an eastern extension of the settlement of Shiloh and its violent outposts. Through a network of outposts that were established since the late 1990s, settlers have succeeded in taking control over nearly the entire area between Shiloh and the Jordan Valley. Now, they are working to consolidate their grip towards the north and the south along the Alon Road, while the army, under the authority of the Apartheid Central Command Major General Avi Blot, allows them to run wild.

About a week ago, it was reported that the army had declared 800 dunams in the area surrounding the outpost of Malachei Hashalom as "state land". However, we have yet to see the official declaration and the accompanying map, nor have we found any signage on the ground, which is the usual procedure in such cases. What we did receive, however, is an unusual document in Arabic, unlike anything we have seen before. Signed over two months ago on April 9, 2025, the document announces an intention to hold a “hearing" prior to either declaring roughly 825 dunams of land or registering it in the land registry as "state land" . The attached map shows that the targeted area is surrounding the outpost of Malachei Hashalom. Link to the document is in the comments.

Meanwhile, settlers in the area are taking over agricultural land along the Alon Road. The goal is to establish a chain of outposts and agricultural land seizures stretching between the outpost of Malachei Hashalom and the isolated and notoriously violent settlement of Kochav Hashahar. East of the village of Al Mughair, you can witness large swaths of farmland that have been set ablaze by settlers in order to block Palestinians from accessing their land. In recent days, an olive grove with dozens of trees northeast of the village of Al Mughair was uprooted. Along the Alon Road, several spots already show signs of settlers plowing, clearing, and cultivating the land.

This is what looting in broad daylight looks like under the racist and corrupt government and the most powerful army in the Middle East.

Good morning Fediverse's EU tech policy nerds!

Up today: the @EUCommission's #DMA workshop with #gatekeeper #Microsoft.

We haven't started yet and the room is still empty, but I'm hoping we'll discuss how #Windows is abused to dominate other markets, by aggressively nudging users to #Edge, #Xbox, #OneDrive, #ChatGPT, etc.

Haha this conversation with #Windows lawyers is so wild I don't even find time to post here about it.

So, I asked them how it's legal under the #DMA's Art 5(2) data cross-use prohibition to automatically sign up Windows users with #OneDrive and thereby sharing my personal data (login credentials) with the service.

The lawyers confirmed that this is what they do and argued strangely this was legal because "there are many ways to sign in to Windows". Local accounts anyone? 🤥

εpsilon patch

image

Image:

ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot’s first mission to the International Space Station now has a name: εpsilon. The mission name and patch were announced today at the Paris Air Show by ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Sophie Adenot, who joined remotely from the United States, where she is training for her spaceflight.

Sophie Adenot is one of the five astronauts selected from ESA’s most recent astronaut class of 2022. Following the successful completion of their basic training in spring 2024, Josef Aschbacher announced during the Space Council in Brussels that Sophie and fellow graduate Raphaël Liégois had been assigned their first missions to the International Space Station, currently planned for 2026.

The εpsilon name and patch reflect the power of small, yet impactful contributions and how multiple parts unite to create a whole. In mathematics, “ε” represents something small. In the extensive collaborative effort of space exploration, involving thousands of participants, all roles, including the astronaut's role, stay small yet meaningful.

During her εpsilon mission, Sophie will perform numerous scientific experiments, many of them European, conduct medical research, support Earth observation and contribute to operations and maintenance aboard the International Space Station.

»The number of malnourished children in the Gaza Strip is rising at an alarming rate, with 5,119 children between 6 months and 5 years admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition in May alone.

Acc. to data received from the UNICEF-supported nutrition centres across the Gaza Strip, this represents a nearly 50% increase from the 3,444 children admitted in April 2025 and a 150% increase from February when a ceasefire was in effect and aid was entering the Gaza Strip in significant quantities.«

"They were waiting for me when I got off the plane. Officer Martinez intercepted me before I entered primary processing and took me immediately into an interrogation room in the back, where he took my phone and demanded my passcode. When I refused, I was told I would be immediately sent back home if I did not comply. I should have taken that deal and opted for the quick deportation. But in that moment, dazed from my fourteen-hour flight, I believed C.B.P. would let me into the U.S. once they realized they were dealing with a middling writer from regional Australia. So I complied.

Then began the first “interview.” The questions focussed almost entirely on my reporting about the Columbia student protests. From 2022 to 2024, I attended Columbia for an M.F.A. program, on a student visa, and when the encampment began in April of last year I began publishing daily missives to my Substack, a blog that virtually no one (except, apparently, the U.S. government) seemed to read. To Officer Martinez, the pieces were highly concerning. He asked me what I thought about “it all,” meaning the conflict on campus, as well as the conflict between Israel and Hamas. He asked my opinion of Israel, of Hamas, of the student protesters. He asked if I was friends with any Jews. He asked for my views on a one- versus a two-state solution. He asked who was at fault: Israel or Palestine. He asked what Israel should do differently. (The Department of Homeland Security, which governs the C.B.P., claims that any allegations that I’d been arrested for political beliefs are false.)"
