The street that my mum lives in is a one-way street, but wasn't marked as such on #Google Maps. This caused many drivers to drive the wrong way. I have tried to edit it on Google Maps (there is such functionality), but to no avail. No matter how often I submitted a change (with photos of street signs!), Google said "Sorry, we could not verify it".
Solution: Edit the street on #OpenStreetMap! A few months after I did this, Google seems to have stolen the data, as it regularly does, and now the street is correct in both datasets!
I wonder if their 'verification' process is literally just "look it up on other maps like OSM and see if it says the same thing" so that they can claim that Technically, It Was Contributed To Us

To make an edit on Google Maps you need another user with privileges to approve the change. Or make lots of changes yourself to level up and have more control.

In my experience, edits on Apple Maps are applied within some days up to two weeks at most. They appear to use some user based trust rating, as my initial edits needed significantly more time. I made approximately 100 edits so far.

I picked up an old optiplex I'm trying to use as a NAS and do other things with. Initially I put Debian on there but felt like I was running into too many problems with things like power management, remot desktop, Docker, and mounting drives.
So I put Openmediavault on there and it's working now. But what are some of the best ways to get the most out of it?
Can I do most things through the browser interface, or should I remote into it to install things?
How easily can I mount it as a network drive to other computers? I still have a Windows PC so I'd like to access it from there too if possible.
And what's the best way to get other services running on it? I'm thinking of how it's possible to set up torrenting software and control it with a remote app from your phone. (For managing and sharing my distros, of course).

Speaking of maps, I've noticed several articles now, especially in the AP, with maps of the area where Iran is partly cut off so that it looks significantly smaller than it actually is. Granted it must be challenging to create a squarish map of that area that includes both Israel and Iran, but I can't help thinking this is an editorial choice. Iran is a large country, much larger than Iraq and almost the size of Saudi Arabia. They were accepted but the next time I was there I noticed it had reverted to the incorrect location and details.
Now I'm wondering if it's correct in OSM or if I need to correct it there first!

To make an edit on Google Maps you need another user with privileges to approve the change. Or make lots of changes yourself to level up and have more control.
