For non New York followers, this was our celebrity dynasty mayoral candidate in New York, our former governor, savior and educator during COVID / #TrumpVirus and down in flames during the #MeToo height after many accusations. He came ba-ack. Maybe now gone.

New York has finally gotten ranked-preference voting, where anyone (like Cuomo) needs 51% to win instantly, and choice 2, 3, etc. may go to a runoff. Cuomo conceded - something.

Meanwhile, the two most popular candidates among the people - the NYC comptroller who fought for immigrants, and an American Muslim - teamed up to send a message: "I hope you'll vote for me #1, but if you really like him, vote me for #2." Seems there was a large contingent of "anyone but Cuomo" voters. I could be wrong now... (Monk: "But I don't think so")

And the #1 winner, of the two pro-sanity candidates is: (drumroll) ...Zohran Mamdani


And on to round 2. (The #context - This is the first ranked election for mayor in NYC - It is the primary, to choose the democratic candidate, who almost always will be the next mayor of New York. Both the two allied front-runners ("not Cuomo") have many fans.

To hold them somehow forever hungry but not starving. To hold them under #US and EU bombs but not extremely malnourished. To cut the babies in pieces but not dying because of starvation....
And for this, they are not able to agree to review the pact.

A key part of the New York City mayoral races was Ranked Choice Voting.

I'm not seeing many news articles mention this yet (correct me if I'm wrong though!).

Ranked choice let's us vote first for who we actually want.... and then put in backup votes for "good enough" candidates and allows us to compromise and find common ground.

It destroys the concepts of "lesser of two evils" and "throwing away your vote".

I hope we see Ranked Choice voting everywhere.

A tiny circuit board containing an ESP32-S3 hides inside a USB-C plug on each cable, and can carry out a keystroke injection attack. The cable’s firmware is open-source, and has an impressive set of features: a payload syntax checker, payload autocompletion, OS detection, and the ability to impersonate the USB device of your choice.

The cable provides a control interface over WiFi, and it’s possible to edit and deploy live payloads without physical access to the cable (this is where the syntax checker should be particularly useful). The firmware also provides a remote shell for computers without a network connection; the cable opens a shell on the target computer which routes commands and responses through the cable’s WiFi connection (demonstrated in the video below).

The main advantage of the Evil Crow Cable Wind is its price: only about $25, at which point you can afford to lose a few during deployment. We’ve previously seen a malicious cable once before. Fairly often on here I see people sharing stories about #PublicLibraries being like a secret cheat code around late-capitalist extraction and the collapse of communitarian values we see every day in a world built on individualism, consumption and individualistic consumption. Here’s another one:

After arranging a drag queen story hour at her very rural library, out of the abundant depth of her caring and curiosity and without a great deal of political context, and not quite knowing what she had gotten into when chuds with sidearms and bibles showed up to block the door with their pickups, and being very appreciative when, truly spontaneously as we’d never organized together before, a much larger number of anarcho inflected antifascists of all flavors appeared from across the region to help keep the day safe (the queens were extremely sparkly and the kids were extremely giggly), the librarian was so appreciative and got so curious (again, as librarians do) that she now wants to put together a series of intro workshops around topics like de-escalation, mutual aid, protest safety, community defense and consensus-based autonomous organizing.

So, tl;dr.. some christofascists showed up to be mean and dumb about queer and trans people and scare little kids and now the targeted library is starting to look a little like an anarchist infoshop 🖤😂🖤

Leider gibt es (spätestens) seit Corona auch viele Erdenkinder (mehr groß, als klein), die sich im Wald genau so "benehmen", wie in Berlin Kreuzberg und anderen gentrifizierten "Brennpunkten" in anderen Großstädten. Sie glauben, ihnen gehöre die Welt, Rücksichtnahme auf Andere sei nicht vonnöten, sondern der Wald sei ausschließlich für sie gewachsen und ihr und ihres Anhangs Eigentum.
Darum kann ich dem schönen Sinnspruch leider nicht uneingeschränkt zustimmen. Aber dafür kann der Sinnspruch nix 😉
