Went to the village website, no notices. Navigated to the utilities page and it said call for “emergency situations” call xxx. After hours to call the police dept dispatch, which I did, and they said sorry we can’t help you’ll have to call the utility in the morning.

Then why say to call the police dispatch? Why not just say, after 4:30 or on weekends, you’re fucked?

At its core, #CCSignals is an attempt by Creative Commons, a Silicon Valley-based organisation, to legitimise the AI grifts of its donors – Google, Microsoft, and Meta (Zuckerberg).

Creative Commons was always a thinly-veiled attempt at enabling Big Tech data farmers to get more data (that’s why the whole “open data” realm is so well funded/popular – open as in “open for business” not free as in “freedom”) but at least their original licenses (non-commercial, share-alike, no derivatives, and yes, sometimes even just attribution) were genuinely useful for people as well as for corporations.

I like to think (perhaps naïvely, I don’t know) that Lawrence Lessig had his heart in the right place when he came up with it all. But I’m biased. I learned how to present from him (including how to use my presentation display) and we even presented a session together back in the day when I was running Open Source Flash. I’m also a big fan of his concept of “institutional corruption”. But I have no illusions that we see eye to eye on all things and I haven’t spoken to him in over a decade.

Anyway, that’s neither here nor there.

This is Creative Commons jumping the shark (is jumping the shark the original enshittification?) and destroying their credibility with a scheme that doesn’t benefit people, only their corporate donors.

Keep using the existing licenses, as they have value, but don’t help them legitimise this latest land grab by the same trillion-dollar corporations and billionaires who are busy destroying our habitat, human rights, and democracies.

In fact, if they go ahead with this, it might be an idea to fork the original Creative Commons licenses and publish them under a different name in an effort to counter the use of their legitimacy to whitewash Big AI.

I want to like Star Wars more than I do.

I grew up watching Star Wars a few years before the prequels came out.

I loved it! I was a big Star Wars fan. I honestly almost completely lost interest in it after I became an even bigger Trek fan.

I’ve been playing Lego Star Wars and it’s been fun, but it made me realize that the stories all seem surface deep to me.

I get the movies from the 70s were not going to deep dive in Luke’s training, but in each film it’s just like, “And… you’re a Jedi master now.”

There are other races and we do not get to really learn much about them. I guess the Mandalorian filled that out some, but I couldn’t get into that show.

I guess this is more of a rant about how Star Wars feels like and empty shell of a series than something with more substance.

I really wish, that there was something that went deeper.

I have not watched all the Disney+ shows yet, but I might start Ahsoka or Andor tonight. I watched Obi Wan and liked it, I tried Mando 2 times and did not like it one bit.

I loved the Shadows of the Empire book.

Resistance Operations Expose Zionist Failure in Gaza: Hamas


Hamas asserted that the continued precise operations by its armed wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, alongside the PIJ’s al-Quds Brigades, prove the Zionist regimes failure to break the will of the Palestinian people or defeat their Resistance.

In a statement published on Wednesday, the group said these operations demonstrate the Resistance’s strength, its control over the battlefield, and its ability to exact a heavy price from the occupation, adding that the Zionist government bears full responsibility for failing to reach an agreement due to the obstacles it keeps putting and dragging out the negotiations to serve Netanyahu’s personal gains.

Hamas also criticized the statements made by the head of the occupation government regarding “absolute victory”, dismissing them as part of an effort to promote illusions and unrealistic claims about achieving the war’s objectives, particularly what it called the delusion of retrieving the captives through military force.

The Zionist occupation forces announced on June 25 that seven of their personnel, consisting of one officer and six soldiers, had been killed during a lethal ambush executed by the Palestinian Resistance in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

An initial Israeli military investigation revealed that the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when Resistance fighters triggered a pre-planted explosive device along a route frequently used by invading Israeli forces, targeting a Puma-type Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) that was transporting a combat engineering unit.

The explosion set the APC ablaze while the soldiers remained trapped inside, leading to the deaths of all seven personnel in the resulting fire, with the intensity of the incident reportedly complicating the identification process for several hours due to the state of the remains.

The al-Qassam Brigades released footage of a complex ambush targeting two military vehicles in southern Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Zionist military had announced the death of seven of its soldiers from the 605th Combat Engineering Battalion in battles on Tuesday in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza, with the slain troops ranging in age from 19 to 21 years old.

The footage captured the moment an explosive charge was thrown directly into the cabin of one of the troop carriers with soldiers stationed inside it, destroying it and setting it ablaze.

The al-Qassam Brigades provided details of Tuesday afternoon’s coordinated ambush, in which its fighters destroyed a Zionist armored personnel carrier using a “Shawaz” explosive device tossed inside the vehicle’s cabin by al-Qassam fighters. According to the statement, the attack completely destroyed and burned the APC with its entire crew inside.

Shortly afterward, the al-Qassam fighters targeted another Zionist armored personnel carrier with a locally-produced improvised explosive device near the Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in the Ma’an area, south of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The statement noted that Zionist helicopter evacuations were observed at the scene and continued for several hours.

Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for the al-Qassam Brigades, praised the complex ambush and the fighters who carried it out, stating, “Our Resistance fighters set unmatched examples of valor and prowess.”

far less bloat too.

wows like versions focusing on different package managers.
(e.g. as i was just reading about, a voidlinux xbps puppy and how easy )

there is mmmuch going for puppy.
yes it's a mite unconventional, compared to the glut of debian and redhat based linuxen. so what. conformity to convention is not a factor.
could even have a puppy with .debs or .rpm.

the anti-bloat, the innovation, the low-entry-bar friendly vibes... its a very refreshing combination of aspects.
very appealing, enticing, enthusing.

heh, and in wondering about cheating the distro-challenge again, with bedrock, i wonder about having a bedrock install [without my regular artix-devuan-gentoo-void base] with a base of slitaz, puppy, slax, (even DamnSmallLinux and tinycore?!) and other small quirky distros... []... maybe it makes even more sense... given these distros can do their own use of other package managers ~ afaik, only 1 at a time though ~ makes sense to put them in a bedrock context, where can get access to all the package managers (without jamming them all into one puppy and it stepping on its own toes tripping itself up) safely in each their own stratum. (... each their own strata. ? ... grammer fail. boik. idk if that's plural or not, there, properly.). so could even do a bedrock install that's entirely populated by puppies, but still availing me the same access to all the same package managers' commands and repositories as i have now (with artix, devuan, gentoo, and voidlinux strata).
