Initiée par le professeur universitaire Gheorghe Piperea, eurodéputé roumain de l'Alliance pour l'union des Roumains (AUR), affilié au groupe des Conservateurs et Réformistes européens (ECR), la motion a été signée par plus d'un dixième des membres du Parlement européen, soit 74 eurodéputés, satisfaisant ainsi aux exigences procédurales.
Elle sera inscrite à l'ordre du jour de la prochaine réunion de la Conférence des présidents, prévue le 2 juillet, et soumise au vote lors de la session plénière du Parlement européen à Strasbourg, du 7 au 10 juillet 2025, selon l'AUR. «Cette initiative n'est motivée ni par des ambitions politiques ni par des griefs personnels et ne vise pas les commissaires exerçant leurs fonctions avec intégrité. Elle porte exclusivement sur les graves dysfonctionnements de gouvernance décrits dans le document annexé. J'appelle tous les membres du Parlement européen, quelle que soit leur affiliation, à participer activement au débat en plénière et à soutenir la transparence, la légalité et une gouvernance démocratique exemplaire», a déclaré Gheorghe Piperea, ECR.
🔻Pour que la motion soit adoptée, elle doit recueillir la majorité absolue des membres du Parlement, soit plus de la moitié d'entre eux. En cas d'adoption, elle entraînera la démission collective de l'ensemble de la Commission européenne, conclut le parti AUR.
