I wrote something for Overland about it back in 2017:

'In 2014, the 25 July was nominated as ‘International Day of Solidarity with Jock Palfreeman’. In 2015, thanks largely to the efforts of New York City Antifa, this became an ‘International Day of Solidarity with Antifascist Prisoners’, which in 2017 is publicising Jock’s case as well as those of antifascist prisoners in Belarus, Russia and Sweden.'

PS. Jock was released from prison in Bulgaria a few years ago.

Good morning. The sun is bright and cheery and the world around me is library-quiet, only bird song trilling through the air now and then.

I've watered the garden which is poised to become riotous but right now is "just" healthy. Corn has a race on its hands with the green beans, thank goodness once again they're bush beans not pole/vine this year.

I am 48 years old. I expect the next year will be a lot like the last, with high highs and low lows and I'll maybe grow a little wiser.

My plans today are to have a gentle morning (doing it!), eventually stir myself for a cardio and stretching workout at the Y, visit a local bookstore, walk the boardwalk to the big fiddle, do a little writing, do a little reading, cook some comfort food and sit in the backyard to watch the garden grow. So basically an ideal day*.

I hope you all have an ideal day customized to your tastes, too. That'd be a nice birthday gift, if lots other folks had a good day, too.

*excepting world events, but maybe the universe can supply some good news there, too? Never hurts to ask, I suppose....

Today, one of the focal points was thermal imaging instruments, which are critical for monitoring land-surface temperature – and will be carried on upcoming missions such as the upcoming Copernicus Land Surface Temperature Mission. ESA’s Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission celebrated passing its 15-year milestone in orbit – the mission has helped improve weather and climate models. Three new contracts were signed for ESA’s InCubed programme, which is central to the agency’s efforts to turn promising concepts into successful Earth observation services, strengthening Europe’s position in this rapidly evolving sector.

June 27, 2025 @ 08:38 Good morning family & friends❣️ Bright and sunny and, depending on which weather guesser you believe, today's high is in the upper 80s to low 90s 🤷‍♀️. Either way, low humidity so will likely keep the house opened up and fans on. Pete has agreed to take me to Ollie's shortly, before it gets busy, as I need a rug and they are 25% off according to an email I got. (And not to brag or anything but I'm a 3-star general in Ollie's Army!) I haven't been anywhere since Monday night, and I figure if I could travel 25 miles away for an MRI at nearly midnight, endure all that was involved there, travel home well after midnight and not get to bed until after 02:00, then I can go to Ollie's in my same city for a rug. Then I can sleep the rest of the day if I need to, but we'll see how it goes. And I know that Pete won't let me carry anything or do any big shopping. Feeling pretty good this morning, which is currently the best time of day for me, with no (or very mild) symptoms so YAY for that! Even my Casey & Gwen can't argue with that logic right? (If you don't see me around for a while, that means that they did argue with that logic hahaha!) Anyway have a fantastic Friday and I will see you later...I hope 😜!
