okay fedi, i finally caught up a little on the #cc #creativecommons #signals thing.
so like... there just isn't going to be a CC-NFAI (No Fucking AI) option? CC's idea of being proactive is helplessly embracing this shit and then asking the owners of AI scrapers to pretty please give credit and maybe some money based on *their* financial means? I wouldn't say this to a fellow human under normal circumstances but with respect to AI scrapers, how about fuck your financial means, you should have asked the price before you stole my shit?
Also, maybe I'm misunderstanding the whole thing, so feel free to clarify anything I stated incorrectly.

in reply to benda • • •@brhfl My understanding is that the "signals" just aren't needed if you want no AI scraping at all, it's just an option for if you're ok with it. If not, you can just use "Content-Usage: ai=n" without any added "signals."

Not necessarily defending anything here, btw.

in reply to bri • • •@brhfl I totally get your feelings there. It does seem a bit naive to expect silicon valley slimeballs to respect these requests.
I've had the feeling for a while that the CC folks are basically the shitlibs of the copyright arena (if that makes sense), and this just helps confirm that.

Sure, some more radical folks prefer copyleft, and i was always open to the idea but I barely fell on the side of CC bc i want the right to tell nazis to fuck off. But this proposal isn't even a legal mechanism the way CC licenses were. It seems like just nicely requesting AI scrapers to respect your wishes. Toothless.
