Today was an awesome day at work. I managed to get a bit of time to completely year down this Lenovo X220 tablet, apply new thermal paste to the CPU, upgrade the RAM to 16GB DDR3, and replace the Seagate 500GB spinning rust drive with a 250GB WD Blue SSD. It's rocking Linux Mint 22.1 XFCE. Just finishing up by adding Krita, and some other software that might be useful on this neat machine. Have to pick up an eprom programmer some time so we can start flashing coreboot to some devices.
We upgraded the memory from 8GB to 16GB. One of the memory slots was not working, but got it working again after cleaning with a brush and rubbing alcohol. Some of the memory contacts in the slot must have had something stuck between them. Works great after cleaning.
We took out the bluetooth module, as my son does not plan on using that, so one less wireless device to worry about for power and security.
Redid thermal paste. Thorough cleaning.
Seems to be working much better now. It was not booting up at all right before this cleaning and working on and off for the past couple weeks. Hopefully this cleaning and service resolves that.

Most humans with two ears have a pretty good sense of directional hearing. However, you can build equipment to localize audio sources, too. That’s precisely what [Sam], [Ezra], and [Ari] did for their final project for the ECE4760 class at Cornell this past Spring. It’s an audio localizer!
The project is a real-time audio localizer built on a Raspberry Pi Pico. The Pico is hooked up to three MEMS microphones which are continuously sampled at a rate of 50 kHz thanks to the Pico’s nifty DMA features. Data from each microphone is streamed into a rolling buffer, with peaks triggering the software on the Pico to run correlations between channels to determine the time differences between the signal hitting each microphone. Based on this, it’s possible to estimate the location of the sound source relative to the three microphones.
The team goes into great deal on the project’s development, and does a grand job of explaining the mathematics and digital signal processing involved in this feat. Particularly nice is the heatmap output from the device which gives a clear visual indication of how the sound is being localized with the three microphones.

Because it encourages others to buy their hardware — the house always wins! It might sound very specific, but it's not limited to this group of people: "We're forced into paying for Windows!", "We are forced into only being able to use certain features in Windows!", "We are forced into SecureBoot!", etc, etc. Okay, but it's not like we only have a handful of hardware vendors anymore, how about supporting open hardware instead? Sometimes my entire screen will turn green requiring a reboot. This has happened while gaming but also while watching videos in browser. I'm trying out undervolting/underclocking using LACTL. Have you experienced this? What was the cause and how did you fix it?
Seems to be a common issue. Lots of posts point to the PSU as the issue. Do a search on your card and green screen + linux and see all the results. Good luck.
I've experienced random stuff like that in past - not exactly the same though and not that chip.
I'd suspect power issue, either cpu and/or gpu causing a spike that results in some voltage rail to go unstable. More likely GPU, unless your applications are really thrashing all cpu cores.
How old PSU? how much headroom? how good brand of PSU? Might also be a motherboard power management issue.
Also - it might not hurt just to unplug and reseat every power cable.

It looks ike mangohud is an application to monitor stuff. I've never used it but you could give that a go - see if you're ever getting close to the 750W.
