A week or two ago I made a post outlining all the ways in which Bluesky was failing - or actively harming - its marginalized users. Two days ago, Bluesky banned Lexi Alexander, a Palestinian-American leftist filmmaker who had tens of thousands of followers on Bluesky. She was permanently banned without so much as being given a warning - as is common on Bluesky. Despite mass backlash, Bluesky staff have refused to reinstate her account or even to so much as explain their reasoning for banning her.
This is unforgivable. Bluesky staff have had every chance to listen to the grievances of their marginalized & leftist users. Instead they've chosen - repeatedly - to cozy up to the right and suppress us in the name of white comfort. This is a site that bans Palestinians and leftists without explanation while going out of its way to platform violent bigots like Jesse Singal and JD Vance - in the former case, even going so far as to ban his critics and revise the rules to accommodate him. The myth of a progressive Bluesky is dead.
I'm not going to say that nobody should be using Bluesky, because unfortunately, niche platforms like Mastodon simply do not allow us to reach as many people as we can elsewhere. But it's well past time that we stopped pretending that Bluesky is morally superior to Twitter instead of just being a different flavor of white supremacist tech bro hell.

Hopefully this will serve as a wake up call and get more Bluesky users to consider at the very least making a backup account on Mastodon.

- Welcomed Jesse Singal, banned his critics, and changed the rules to justify him staying - Staff has publicly mocked people for complaining about Singal's presence (now that he's been personally cited in anti-trans legislation, hailey.at is blocking anybody who asks her to apologize) - Spent a year banning Palestinians (even those who did their best to be unobtrusive and not spam the site) for fundraising while trying to survive a genocide, recently revised its rules to justify these bans - Banned someone for making a bot that exposed the head of T&S's likes (which are public) - Welcomed & verified JD Vance - Has repeatedly banned smaller leftist accounts (my own included) without any warning or explanation - Bluesky CEO has said she would welcome Trump himself to the site - Claims to value 'volunteer moderation', but consistently deletes leftist blocklists of Zionists, anti-Palestinian racists, etc - while leaving lists of Palestinians & leftists that accuse them of being scammers / bots up.

The thing about monopoly of violence is, well, that the state has the monopoly on violence. Journalism can be better at recognising that fact instead of wasting time talking about ‘violent protests'.
Civilians never have the monopoly on violence. The state always does.
The same goes with unseen versus seen violence. You may think that some person with a rock at a protest is the violent one, but to do that you need to erase the daily mass violence inflicted by the state on citizens and non-citizens.
You need to be able to compare a rock thrown by a protester with tanks and jets and mass incarceration and ICE kidnapping children and border cops letting innocent people die of thirst and teargas and torture and more.

Israel ist ein Ethnostaat und zudem auch als jüdischer Staat (nicht säkularer Staat) definiert.
Es ist ähnlich wie in Apartheid Südafrika, wo die Macht einzig von einer eingewanderten Ethnie gehalten wird und die native Bevölkerung als Menschen zweiter Klasse mit weniger Rechten existieren.
Judentum ist halt eine Ethnoreligion und soweit ich weiß sehen die meisten Juden das auch so - Konvertiten gibt es extrem selten und Missionierung in irgendeiner Form ist auch nicht wirklich vorgesehen. Ich kann mir auch schlecht vorstellen, dass Palästinenser mit Kusshand aufgenommen würden, wenn sie massenhaft zum Judentum übertreten würden.

DuckDuckGo does have AI searches turned on automatically. You have Opt-Out. To do that, click on the little gear thingy "after" you search for something, click All Search Settings, then AI Features, and then click off and Never. But at least you can do it.
I use DDG as my search engine, right in the address bar, and I never see AI results. I just ran one of these against the other and got the exact same results, and just as fast. I don't understand.
